Cool record player! I'm guessing that this model RCA portable record player dates from the late 60's. I have an RCA VPP21Y portable record player/AM Radio that was made in 1970. It has a round body with a red and white plaid cloth pattern with a carrying strap made from the same material. It also comes with a fog white top. It's designed to look like a bit like a hat box. Are you familiar with this model? It seems like a fairly rare model since I haven't seen many around.
@desoto1961 Awesome Desoto! Actually I made a mistake when I wrote my post last night. Mine also has the same red, yellow, and green cloth on the body and carrying strap. I originally got mine as my first record player for Christmas a few days before my third birthday. A few years later, I accidently snapped the tonearm off, and it was discarded. Luckily I found another one on eBay. It needs a new idler wheel. Do you know where I can find a replacement, or someone who can refurbish the original?
@desoto1961 Thank you very much. I'll definitely check them out. BTW, have ever posted a video of your VPP 21Y record player here? I'd love to see yours in action. :)
Too funny when you look back on the one sentence article shown here (5:23) about the Beatles having two hit songs on the Top Ten list. I can remember how I would scurry off to the record dept. when my mother was shopping at any store chain and look for any old or new 45 record of the Beatles. Fond memories.
Rock on Desoto!! Beautiful player and in one of most favorite colors. This video was soooo fun!! Just full of surprises!! What was the black Capital record under "Get Back"?? Promo "Penny Lane"?? xoxo

Fine machine. Fine taste in music. I had the honor of watching Sir Paul last summer in Nashville.
