Thomas had a mediocre record as a law student, and failed to make any difference as a lawyer with the EEOC and the appeals court. He left a lot of cases untouched.

I like Thomas's respect for neutrality and his steadfastness to what he believes is correct despite of his race. However, his view is miopic. First, as a justice, he does policy, whether he likes it or not. Second, his policy cannot assume that the playing field for the races in the US is even. Beyond personal merit, some people were forced to be inferior for a very long time. The field must be evened out before equalit and neutrality can be established. He may be sincere but seems to be unwise.

People were vulnerible due to fiat currency, central banks, federal reserve policies etc. Nothing more. Ineffeciency and corrupt practices. This effected almost everyone, it brought on the great depression and every recession since.

In a world where everyone is running around with their hair on fire and a "solution" for every "problem", Thomas brings us back to the time-tested proven basics.
Clerence in my opinion is an anti black conservative in black skin. I bet he marries a white woman to increase his chance of success and gain acceptance amongst white people. This guy is a true hypocrite, after he benefiting from the civil rights movement, he is now working hard to end everything that have helped black people including himself in the past.
Get his book My Grandfather's Son. You'll see how much he really cares for black people. Before I read the book I did not like Thomas. Now I have nothing but grudging admiration for this man.

There is no general inclination to striking down statutes per se. Virtually all the statutes struck down by this court were passed by a Democratic Congress, so its not surprising that liberal justices were more likely to upheld them.

Thomas had a mediocre record as a law student, and failed to make any difference as a lawyer with the EEOC and the appeals court. He left a lot of cases untouched.
The issue with Anita Hill should not have been dropped. A Supreme Court judge should be setting an example, not blabbering about his taste in porn movies.

As far as Obama being gay, I don't care. But your other points are true. However, the President is only 1/3rd of the government. He only carries out the laws. He doesn't make them or interpret them.

Clarence knows what it is to be black, and he chose to NOT use it as an excuse for NOT succeeding. He chose to embrace his intellect and individualism - instead of your prescribed homogeneous "group think" based on skin color. He BECAME something because of who he WAS, not because of anything that a collective group of similar-pigment people TOLD him he should do.

Affirmative Action was federally sanctioned by the Nixon administration. I am a white man paying a despicable amount of child support. How many black men out there share my burden? I ask this question because I have come to a greater understanding of government oppression against fathers. White fathers, black fathers. Please. In Clarence Thomas we have a black man who is an affirmative action beneficiary and, ironically, is the most vocal opponent of affirmative action. That's called raising up the ladder behind you. Also, don't be naive. An ideal world IS color blind, this world IS NOT. I like Thomas's respect for neutrality and his steadfastness to what he believes is correct despite of his race. However, his view is miopic. First, as a justice, he does policy, whether he likes it or not. Second, his policy cannot assume that the playing field for the races in the US is even. Beyond personal merit, some people were forced to be inferior for a very long time. The field must be evened out before equalit and neutrality can be established. He may be sincere but seems to be unwise.

Yes, by 1937, Roosevelt had convinced the US Supreme Court that there was merit to his ideas, as they began famously undoing decisions of the previous 32 years that had left so many Americans vulnerable to the economic downturn of the Great Depression. The Court picked up the pace of undoing the damage with the appointment of Chief Justice Earl Warren.

When Nixon took office, he appointed four members to the Court, and the most conservative of them, Rehnquist, began an aggressive process of dismantling the pro-rights decisions of the Court's previous thirty-plus years. This conservative Supreme Court has swung us hard-right back toward the feudal society overseen by McKinley, Coolidge, and Hoover.

Justices often considered more "liberal" - Justices Breyer, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, David Souter and John Paul Stevens - vote least frequently to overturn Congressional statutes, while those often labeled "conservative" vote more frequently to do so. At least by this measure, the latter group is the most activist.

Of court Thomas is most inclined to - he thinks the way the Constitution was originally intended and how COngress operated up until 1933 was the right way. There's be a huge departure since then and that is why he is often against the imperial congress.

There is no general inclination to striking down statutes per se. Virtually all the statutes struck down by this court were passed by a Democratic Congress, so its not surprising that liberal justices were more likely to upheld them.
