  • Imagine the intense feeling of having a million dollars straped to your back, awesome flic!

  • I guess the Allstate guy didn't take his own advice......

  • This inspired GTA.

  • this could only remind me about almighty COD modern warfare 2 (no Russian)

and the badass makarov = De niro

at 1:26 you will hear him saying "goooo"

  • that vest pacino weres would not save him form a 5.56 round green tip or not it will fuck him up.

  • I love Fire fights!!!!

  • This scene will always give me goosebumps

  • One awesome movie but I wonder why director Mann hired ex SAS troopers to advise for the downtown LA battles....there are many American experts from several special ops outfits....

  • Best gun fight in movie history .

  • I was in the Army before this came out but my brother was in the Marines after this was out and he can confirm this shootout was used as a unofficial training tool, specifically Val Kilmers reload and the shoot ,move, and communication.

  • @lockonstratos21 Yeah I know, but still had me rolling.

  • Looks like Magua's a pretty good shot after all

  • @milballs Magua served in Vietnam so he knows a thing or two about M16s.

  • The guy that did the sound design for this movie(he also did Saving Private Ryan) should be THE ONLY ONE ALLOWED TO DO GUN SCENES in Hollywood.

Language fails me. There's no word for fantastic-magic-awesome-orgasmic.

  • Comment removed

  • hope that nigga got allstate for his towncar.

  • @LockonStratos21

omg, im rolling in laughter over this comment... hahahahaha cause the guy does allstate commercials hahahahaha

  • @cormansguitar He made this movie way before he made all state commercials bro. He was also on a tv show called The Unit about a special forces squad.

  • While I hate that they fire like 1000 shots without reloading its still fucking bad ass. And Ill just pretend that they reloaded everytime the camera turns for even 1 second :D

  • I want whatever guns they're using! It seems like they make reloading obsolete!

  • 9 ppl tried to be heroes during the heist and lost a dime

  • Magical rifles with 20-30 round clips that can fire hundreds of rounds without a reload.

  • @dadoody 30 rounds in the case of the Colt 733s, 35 rounds in the case of the Galil. The choice of the 733 is a very good one as it's 11.5" barrel allows it to be used fairly easily inside a vehicle. The film did show reloads and there were numerous instances where not everyone was firing and they could have been reloading. That said, yeah...they shot double what they should have. Not to bad for Hollywood though, better than the vast majority of war movies in fact.

  • @Nater245689 Well...Mann instructed the "seasoned police officer" to not make a rambo, even tho his rifle could fire fullauto, as it would be unrealistic for a Police Officer to spray around, he´d want to be accurate, so no stray rounds can potentially hit any bystanders...

THAT, and the sound design, and they show reloads (the long haired dude actually reloads so good, that supposedly this was shown to SF recruits going "you will reload like this"), makes this probably the most realistic one...

  • Best. Shootout. Ever.

Not to mention probably the most realistic Hollywood shootout scene in history.

  • MOTHA FUCK THE POLICE :)

  • my god do they ever empty a ton of ammo in a short span of time

  • this is better than the dark knight robbery

  • I promise you By-standers.You will be more safe.Ducking to cover, then screaming like 6 year old girls when they find out there vigina will eventually bleed

  • 9 ppl tried to be heroes

  • 1:07 RAMIREZ! OUR DRIVER IS DEAD, we're on foot now.

  • @Rivannous OH NO! Snake Doctor's been hit!

  • @nickmitsialis

    ;D you are funny.

hey, thumbs up for this guy!

  • @Rivannous OK! Glad you're familiar with Haysbert's other roles;

  • @nickmitsialis

lol. I haven't even seen that film and I am not familiar with nothing. I am a freak sitting in front of my computer with nothing to do but writing silly comments... and you call me familiar with something?

    you definitely are funny

  • @Rivannous Dennis Haysbert, the actor who played 'the driver' played president Palmer on '24' and another fairly well known character on a TV show called The Unit--his call sign was 'snake doctor';

  • @nickmitsialis

wow. you seem to be an expert!

my quote was from Modern warfare 2, this shitty game...

I just saw Heat yesterday and it's a brilliant movie.

    have a nice day!

  • @Rivannous You too! Never played MW2...always more of of a CoD guy.

  • @nickmitsialis He was also in "Major League" and "Navy Seals" with Charlie Sheen. But Sheen got him killed in Seals.

  • @CuervoBlack06 I haven't seen 'Seals' in AGES; but I remember Haysbert playing the Cuban manager---cuz my wife is a HUGE Baseball fan AND She's Cuban too---needless to say Major League is on more than I care to say.

  • So fucking realistic... Awesome gunsounds!!! Louder than all the other surrounding noises in the streets! I love it. Every gun has a different sound...

  • so damn cool

  • 3:14 second chance noob

  • I've watched this movie like 5-6 times. Almost all other movies with shootouts, hands down!! Matrix ranks in #1 for so many ratings, seriously get that fake un-realistic crap out. This movie was so well produced and choreographed 15 years ago, Robert De Niro and Al Pacino in one movie? = Boss

It was filmed in a real city environment, with real gun sounds in which it was barely edited. The sounds echo around you, just to present the war-zone environment feel. Best shootout of all time!

  • This is the best gunfight in the history of film. It's horrifying, intense and real. But it adds an emotional and important plot substance to the film. It's so well choreographed. The second Val gets hit it feels like a whole new frantic sets in. Heat is perhaps the greatest exploration of cop vs criminal in film. You find yourself rooting for both Pacino and de Niro the whole movie.

  • The gunshots actually feel... loud!

  • Unlimited ammo hax O:

  • Val Kill is fuckin no mercy stylin

  • shoulda turned right but still a great firefight!

  • Wait, so even the cops have the old version with full auto? That and dropping like, 200-250 rounds before mag change.

  • GTA 4 stars

  • You know what I fucking love? The way you can hear the shots echo all around the city.

  • This is probably the closest thing to a real shoot out that you can find.

  • BEST SCENE IN HEAT

  • this reminds me of 3 games , gta4, kane and lynch, and another game you probly never herd of called insurgency . great game . all of them .

  • whats the name of this movie .

  • @SERVER1992 "Heat" directed by Micheal Mann, starring DeNiro, Pachino, Kilmer and Sizemore. GREAT film.

  • Its' GTA V :D

  • it was cool

  • Hard coar shooting!!!!!!!

  • Pacino burned the shit out of his thumb at 2:19

  • did I just see Ted Levine (the guy that played Buffalo Bill in Silence of the Lambs) take one hard? lol

  • can anyone tell wat gun the guy is shooting at like the 3:20 mark?

  • @nujabes7 It is an FN FNC-80.

  • @mdcragg thank you

  • what is the song while they r robbing the bank/ i really wanna know if some1 could answer plz do! :)

  • @greatLittleAnzio

the song is called "force marker" by brian eno

  • i can't tell who's the bad guy, both sides are too badass

  • I think I need to check this movie out.

  • I like all the comments from people who act like they know what they are talking about. Very funny.

Guns are very loud, even with ear protection it can fuck with your hearing easy.

That isn't 'spray and pray' it's called suppressive fire, because you don't want to try and move with 20+ people shooting at you.

And I do think the cops were less than stellar shots, but then again the movie would end pretty fast if every one was 100% accurate. And, shooting is pretty hard, not like video games.

  • @GenericAmerican1 not sure if you saw the movie 'Appaloosa,' but there was a 4-on-2 gunfight that ended pretty quickly. viggo mortensen's character says to ed harris's character, "that was fast," as they writhe on the ground, both shot. harris says, "everyone could shoot."

  • @wmryan78 I liked that movie. And that is how all movies would end up if everyone could shoot.

  • Spray and pray doesn't work well. The most effective way to fight would be to have 3 guys who spray and pray, and the rest armed with accurate and powerful rifles.

  • see now that was some good action and i was tense through the whole thing. YOU DON'T NEED TO SHAKE THE CAMERA AROUND TO GET A GOOD EXCITING SHOT!!!! Just a good director, actors and script.

  • @sparkyyoung

I know what you mean. Shakey cam action sucks. Those types of shots leave me saying "What the hell is going on?"

  • Undalay Undalay! ROFL

  • Belgian FNC power!

  • No wonder I liked this scene so much, it was directed by Micheal Mann, the guy who made Collateral!

  • Dennis Haysbert didn't get his safe driver bonus that year.

  • best movie scene ever!!

  • Definately one of the best hollywood action scenes...

  • oh my god.

  • I was there when they were filming this!

  • one of the best gun fights in a movie.

  • M4s FTW

  • they do do a good job of showing off. Supressing and moveing. because this way, ur not running into a hail of lead.

  • Best cop shootout of all time.

  • lol, it's funny all these people commenting about this being unrealistic. Who gives a damn? It's a bad ass gunfight, who cares who shoots who and for how long. If I wanted realistic I'd volunteer for convoy duty in the desert. Just shoot at stuff and fuck shit up. Man versus man, shooting, dodging, moving, reloading, ducking, dying. Bad ass! You people need to tend to your crying vaginas instead of wasting space on youtube.

  • @whiskeywilliams Unrealistic? This is about the most realistic gunfight scene ever to be put on the big screen...

  • Like every other dumb movie with never ending clips.

  • since your such a tactical critic, I couldn't help but correct you the proper term is magazine there champ.

  • @mustangpalmer91 ,really cause I saw reloading at all the right times.

  • search on youtube:

The ultimate Shootout - Fortunate Son

  • Everybody who likes heatwill love this one ...

    search on youtube:

The ultimate Shootout - Fortunate Son

  • I've never seen this movie before, but that was pretty badass, no way could they have actually lived through that but still, awesome

  • omg the poice SUCK! even tho its a movie

  • I don't think police are allowed to be such crappy shots.

  • GTA4; the movie

  • lmao @ GTA4 tha movie !

  • true true

  • best shootout in movie history and what makes it even more interesting is the echoes

  • Hey, is this movie worth seeing? That got me interested... not the most probable outcome for a robbery but, good scene anyway.

  • Epic scene in epic film. No shootout ever done better--I couldn't believe what I was seeing. No hyperstylized crap--just a straight up brutal street brawl between 2 gangs of equals. War as art.

  • This is what north Hollywood could have looked like.If the robbers hadent been poping muscle relaxers before they whent.

  • Actually, that's kind of exactly what happen. Only the cops didn't have all the automatic weapons.

  • why can't hakeem olajuwon kill the robbers?

  • Cops just got cut to pieces, no chance! Best gun fight I've seen in a stupid movie so far.

  • @SonofAlethia This movie was far from stupid man.

  • Xbox live

    Are you in?

  • GTA IV in real life lol

  • @CGFAxel2nd More like Heat in a videogame. GTA IV owes this scene a lot.

  • This was awesome, until I realized the guy in the beige suit sprayed his rifle for like 20 minutes straight without reloading....

  • they cut away from him a bunch of times...he could have reloaded at any point without the audience having seen him.

  • WHAT IS THIS MOVIE?

  • Heat

  • i should of figured that out for myself =/

    lol

  • wow! cool action

  • is that the prez as the wheelman... shoulda got that geico for his money!!!!!

  • damn

  • shiherlis is using FMJ to penetrate the detectives vest, sleight of hand pro when he reloads his weapon and final stand when he gets shot.

  • why dont you be quiet for a while huh

  • ...the fuck? why don't you eat a dick for a while huh

  • @raggedtraveler lmfao

  • I finally saw this movie... and dont see the big deal? This sequence is an old school style shoot out, nothing amazing about it. Im a bit disappointed.

  • Comment removed

  • at first i was like "is that gary busey" and when i realized it wasn't i stopped caring

  • Absolutely unrealistic!

U americans still dont know what a desaster you do with automatic weapons. No blood, no brain, no legs, no arms flying around! Still live on in your uncle doctor world!

  • Yes. Only Americans use automatic weapons.

This is the problem with most anti-American sentiments. Outdated information and stupid misconceptions. This movie is about 13 years old, when the gore factor in movies was pretty damn low. Take a look at modern movies like Death Sentence, Crank, and Inglourious Basterds before you try to weigh in on how weapons function in our movies.

    "Uncle Doctor world" my ass.

  • Assault rifles are considered automatic, and a well placed shot from a AR15 can easily take off a foot or hand...even a face, literally.

  • UNREALISTIC??? I guess you didn't hear about the Bank of America robbery in Los Angeles not too many years back. THOUSANDS and THOUSANDS of rounds were fired by both sides. Auto weapons? BULL! Who needs them? I DON'T! You bleeding heart SOBs who want your governments to protect you... I can protect myself with assistance. I ain't waiting for some angel of mercy. God bless you, husnusnusli. You keep thinking "unrealistic." We will protect your sorry ass... but only if you happen to be nearby!

  • its a fucking movie and what are you blind there was blood.

Its people like you who just make ridiculous anti American statements about a movie that is so old you

  • GTA Motherfucker XD

  • Problem is that everyone seems to have unlimited ammo. Still, kickass shootout nonetheless.

  • the best shoot out in any movie PERIOD

  • awesome!

  • The best scene from that movie!

  • Zer04evr - Could you actually put the name of the movie in the description? thanks

  • The most realistic shoot outs I have ever seen have been on the Hbo show, "The Wire."

  • E30 at 1:01

  • This movie is so fucking good.

  • LOUD NOISES

  • somebody save the uhaul truck!! they won't get their deposit back

  • You've never shot a real gun, have you? Guns are loud! They sound nothing like they do in video games or most other movies. This movie isn't perfect, but it's much more accurate than the "pew pew pew" sound effects that most movies supply.

  • Is this a joke? You DO realize that guns are loud. The sounds of the guns in that movie were much more realistic than most of what you hear in other movies.

  • you're retarded.

  • @j4pan Have you *ever* fired a gun before?

Even a 9mm is loud enough to do serious and permanent damage to your ears unprotected.

I cannot imagine what .223 (what they were mostlikey shooting ) would sound like inside of a closed car!

Get out to your local gun range, and see for yourself! This movie was too quiet.

  • I had the misfortune of being in a Humvee that was being attacked in Afghanistan, and while exiting the vehicle, everyone opened up with our M4s.

The .223 (5.56) is a monster in an enclosed space, even with hearing protection my ears rang for hours.

  • Ouch! I've always wondered how SWAT and other police and military forces dealt with unsuppressed gun fire inside of cars, bedrooms, and hallways.

On one hand, you'd want to hear the enemy coming..on the other hand, one shot unprotected and you won't be able to hear anything at all!

Better to be alive and deaf than dead.

  • @TheStumblebumDotCom glad your back and safe

  • @TheStumblebumDotCom

I had a flash-Bang go off two inches from my head when I took a tour of a SEAL breaching demonsdtration.

  • This movie wasnt quiet. This shit was loud especially since i played it on surround sound and people outside thought they were shooting.

  • It's not that loud.

  • "It's not that loud?" What a stupid comment! No, you can adjust the volume on your TV or computer! TRY BEING THERE in a REAL firefight! A firefight is not pretty for anyone on either side. And it's LOUD. I know an old guy who was in charge of a Long Tom (155mm) cannon outfit in WWII and he is quite hard of hearing. It's annoying to those of us who have relatively normal hearing, but we understand. Enlist in the military then comment. Firefights have no volume controls.

  • When I was talking about it's not that loud I meant that from experience, I seen firefights, heard the gunshots, everything, it's not that loud. You're over exaggerating it.

  • @willowhawk

I agree. Almost everyone on screen would be deaf LOL

  • @willowhawk true try shooting even a .22 it is loud as hell. and iv shot .223 as well it is loud 2

  • @willowhawk

THese are blanks, and they tend to be a sight quieter than actual shots.

  • no i ant a women u sound like one

  • by respect i assume u mean fear, nd money is a necessity, which is also evil....yea i need money but its not worth puttin fear into peoples lives jus to get it...

  • THIS IS THE REAL SH·"%"· not just a movie

    4Jag1RMi2E4

  • Colt 733 is 11.5 inch barrel not 10 inches.

  • i thought it was a m4a1.

  • Omg ... that guy based his gun experience from a game? ... pistol rounds tru a car, not any round dumbass ... and not all pistol, just the powerfull ones.

  • Depends on what you consider to be 'powerful'. Even 9x19mm goes right through car doors more often than not. Google "The Buick o' Truth" and look at the first result for an interesting article on this.

  • The caliber of Galil is 7.62

  • Depends on the variant, there are both 5.56 and 7.62 Galils, I'm not sure which is more common, but I suspect it's the 5.56.

  • Oh and for abit of clearing: The M4 is an M16A2 carbine with a 16 inch barrel, the Colt 733 is a 10 inch variant of the Colt 653, which is a 16 inch barrel M16A1 carbine.

  • Armour piercing rounds? go back to COD4, kid. Even fucking pistol rounds can punch through and through a car.

  • @WENEEDBACKUPNOW Too much cod dude. Real life, almost any types of gun have enough force to penetrate the metals in a car. There is no such thing as armour piercing bullets (stopping power - deep impact~Cod). Depends on the way the bullet was built, and the weight and velocity speed of bullet.

  • and the other guy was using a Galil chambered in 5.56

  • Sadly way more interesting and exciting than the rest of the movie. Will always be the best shootout on film though, thanks to the super-realistic soundscape. LOUD!

  • I didnt think the movie was bad. I like it.

  • aww was this movie to complex for your simple mind ? There there we have movies for people like you, like Equilibrium and Transformers

  • The full glory of the Internet is in your post! Did I say the movie was too complex? No, I said it was too unexiting. Quick question: Have you watched Come and see, A Tale of Two Sisters, Once Were Warriors, The Maltese Falcon, Magnolia... etc? I can out-film-snob you any day of the week(but I agree Transformers was a piece of turd). I guess what I'm trying to say is don't read so much into people's comments.

  • thows were 30 round mags and they only reloaded after lik 50 rounds
