A good way to rate the efficiency of the unit is to check the CFM rating with the model's manufacturer. Cubic Feet per Minute. That's how much air the unit will move. A quality range hood will have anywhere between a 250-650 CFM rating. Today's range hoods are 50% quieter than models made just a few years ago.
