Charlie Brown jinxed himself by saying yes she hasn't given us an assignment yet. And y isn't Linus even worrying about reading war and peace he's just doing whatever he would normally do?
The funny thing is that, when I saw the thanksgiving special I could not tell if peppermint patty was a boy or a girl, especially when it was a boy who provided her voice in that special.
Happy new year, YouTube! I always look forward to watching this at the beginning of every year. Unfortunately, I don't have TV, so I'm quite dependent on online sources for my entertainment. Thanks for uploading and, once again, happy new year!
I appreciate the explanation you gave us about the banner. You're a smart young man...keep up the good work. Follow the rules to the best of your abilities while trying to keep your hustle going. Good man!
Man what teacher would give a kid war and peace to read for school? What educational value should the teacher give them that they need to read? It took me 3 months to read that book and understand.
These were always some of my favorites growing up, and I love it even more now that I heard the motif from Tchaikovsky 4, movement 4 in the War and Peace scene :)
@jamesjamesjac YES, thank you! Either Charlie Brown's teacher was such a jerk that she only gave him the assignment or he was the only one that bothered to actually READ it (and his reward? A D-minus!).
@KodyBoy555 If only there was anything happy about the new year. If it was the 70s, 80s, or 90s, I'd agree all the way, but to me 2010 was a joke & 2011, was even worse. I just hope SOMETHING good/useful/decent happens in 2012...
haha thanx! i remember watching this when i was a kid. this is adorable. but y r the teachers making the adorable little kids read war and peace over winter vacay? they should read an abridged version. lol XD i <3 rerun
@BejnXander my only insight would be that the teacher set the assignment at the begining of the semester, and Linus had already finished it by like October (he's a smart kid) but Chuck forgot, and the teacher was Just reminding them that their deadline for the book report was due on the first day of term, and if it wasn't already done it would be the last chance. But that's just a complete guess, but it makes sense to me.
@BejnXander True, it IS rather a lengthy and irrelevant book to an 8 year old. What 8 year olf needs to know the horrors of war? I cry sometimes when a child in a war stricken land watches soldiers shoot their parents... cos that child will grow up hurt and broken and join a militia and the cycle begins anew. Are they hoping that by making kids read War and Peace they'll see the horrors of war and learn the value of peace, cos to me this wasn't that kind of book. It made me paranoid.
@Mr8bitgamer The song was "Slow slow quick quick" sung by Desiree Goyette, best known for her singing on the 1982-1991 Garfield specials. She has a fantastic voice.
It's too bad the Li'l Folks never had a New Year's special, much less one that might've premiered on this commentor's birth year. Flashbeagle is the closest thing to such. I mean, what were they gonna do? Adapt that book report storyline and change it from Gulliver's Travels to, I don't know, maybe War And Peace? And fer that matter, have Linus flirt with Heather? No way they'd be THAT cruel to Charlie.
@007leonn Ain't it the truth? But a lot of shows did this, had kids read books that would be too advanced for the same aged kids in the real world. Like in Boy Meets World, 7th graders reading Grapes of Wrath, but is it a bad idea? I was always in advanced classes so when I was 8 I read Robinson Crusoe, at 10 it was Lorna Doon, and Theras and His Town, The story of a Bad Little Boy, we didn't get a lot of traditional books to read but we worked hard and were proud of it.
Charlie Brown ur silly. No one else is worrying about the book.
