  • your playing is sooooooooooooooo awesome

  • Sounds great. This is why piano sound modules are no longer being released.

  • Great sounding synth. Even more impressive are the voicings you use when you are playing, nice stuff!!

  • hi love your pianos. can you pls do a tutorial starting from 3:34 to 4:20? I love that part and want to learn how to play it. It's too quick i can't grasp it.

  • Amazing sound!!!

This is clearly one of the best virtual pianos available.

  • Used Steinbergs The Grand for ages but always thought that it was a bit to harsh, a bit to precise sounding. This ones much warmer and in my opinion has more feel to it. And with the different modules you'll find a sound to fit into almost any arrangement. Like it very much and will stay with this.

  • Sounds fabulous.

  • I have to say I cringe every time I hear someone using the Truepianos in commercial recordings nowadays..they are so easily recognized

  • Oh my word, you are so amazing on piano! the sound of this vst and your skill is insane mixed together, will great to listen to :) thanks

  • what midi controller do you have or keyboard?

  • what speakers do you use? i need a new setup, you have a sub? what kinda of midi controller?

  • @scrawfrd02

I was using some dynaudio bm5as in the studio but the studio has since closed so I'm now down to using alesis m1 mk2 actives. I did experiment with subs but couldn't find a sweet spot with them.

  • what speakers do you use? i need a new setup, you have a sub?

  • Did you drop some of methenys Song for Bilbao ending around about 3:39? lol

  • @ihasmario no at this time i hadn't listened to any although i've since gotten into his stuff :)

  • I have this VST, and all I can say is, it's absolutely brilliant. Geniuses had to create this wonderful work of art.

  • what module is that sound so good. and are you using a pedal

  • @Gboyz3

Dave Rich was playing 'Diamond' module and was using pedal on the demonstration. Our best sounding module up to date is 'Amber', and we are preparing yet a better sounding module (but also more CPU hungry though).

  • @gyohng Is the saphire older than the amber module?

  • @MrJackanthony Yes, Sapphire is older. By the way, with the new version, Atlantis is the best module. It's possible to hear it on a new video with Mr.Christian Teuscher, and also it is possible to render MIDI using this module via MIDI upload on truepianos web site demos page.

  • heyy dear . im from morocco . how u doing ? can u help me . im realy make some nace beat here i can show u . but i look problem . that i need piano cable usb with computer to work on fl studio or reason 4 . i look for this pianno here that 1 mounth for nothing . pleaaase if u have some one u don't use it . please please don't forget me cause i will not forget u .

  • how does this stand up against Kontakt's grand pianos, in terms of sound quatlity?

    Which one sounds better?

I am thinking of getting either one, so I have make a decision.

  • @novanine9

Please wait for our next minor release, which is going to come shortly and add one good module. I think it is better than Kontakt pianos, but I haven't tested the very latest Kontakt library to claim it for sure. If one will purchase TruePianos and wouldn't like it, within 30 days we will refund without a problem.

  • @novanine9 well if you cant tell from the youtube demos, then i would not worry, stick with truepianos. But from what ive heard, the kotakts has a more detailed sound in the bass keys.

  • beautiful piano playing mate and the software is amazing.

tried a demo version, not so long ago and love it going to purchase this later this summer :D

  • you look like doug from king of queens :D

    and you play very good

  • great example of TruePianos - you play great and Truepianos sounds fantastic!

  • @lukekirk1 Hey Luke, I'm new to piano playing, but I got this truepianos installed on my pc. My question is, can any keyboard, as long as it has a midi socket, be connected to pc and therefore to this software, or only certain keyboards such as M_Audio Keystation, can be used with this software? Thank you!

  • @lisajason111

any keyboard with Midi (USB or oldskool MIDI) will do. just buy a sustain pedal with it and make sure your computer has a proper soundcard

  • @lisajason111

any keyboard with Midi (USB or oldskool MIDI) will do. just buy a sustain pedal with it and make sure your computer has a proper soundcard

  • @lisajason111 any midi compatible keyboard will do. (of course if you find one that doesn't dont blame me but i'm not aware of any ;) )

  • good demonstration. well done

  • I have Novation 61sl MK II the M audio is the best 88key controler if your on a budget it's fully weighted and velocity. I've only just started with music this piano VST sound far better in this video being played properly.

  • Quite loverly .. I have the basic version that comes with SONAR and none of the sample-based programs even compare.

And I was thinking was going to have to get the Kurzweil PC3X to get a nice beautiful piano sound.

    Thx fer the demo, mate.

  • Rockwool! :)

  • you betcha! :)

  • there's a few 40 day trials out on the net.. download it and see what you think. i'm def gonna buy the full version

  • Please do. Thanks.

  • has anyone paired true pianos with any m-audio midi controller? is it any good?

  • i have trupiano but it don't sound tru my keyboard. can someone show me how to set this up. maybe there is something i'm not doing.

  • ?? what do you mean it doesn't sound "through your keyboard"? It can only sound through your soundcard. Or do you mean it's not recognizing your MIDI controller ("midi keyboard" in this case) as input?

  • Villaking - its a repeating pattern but its not a scale . It can be done with broken chords and chord inversions . To play smooothly takes a lot of control = practise .There are some good tutorials on jazz chords on Youtube

  • Is this software for windows or mac os?

    Really nice sound

  • I'm new to piano playing and have a question that's a bit off the topic here:

When he does that thing where he plays notes from the lowest to the highest end of the piano with both hands, left trailing about an octave behind the right.... Is that a certain scale he's playing?

If so, is there a certain set of scale intervals that he plays with each hand or is it just random notes he's picking with each hand.

I've seen alot of people do that before and I just love the way it sounds!!

  • The connection that Truepianos make with the performer is undeniable!

You already can see it in this video...

This VSTi was created for the player, the pianist, who wants to enjoy and feel every little nuance he/she performs.

I could sit and plug the Emerlad module on default setting and play all day.

Those pianos are just a blast to play! period!

I believe that version 2 (when it comes out) will blow all competition out of the water.

    Good luck 4front.

    All the best.

    R.

  • Has anyone used the bosendorfer 290 from East West? Is TruePianos better than that?

  • I used it. I like it more than TruePianos, but truepianos is still amazing.

  • Wow. I'm getting this.

  • Can you anyhow sample the sounds from it to a hardware keyboard?

  • good playing man i heard that the true pianos is also included in sonar 8 producer edition?

  • Yes, the Amber module of True Pianos is included with Sonar 8 PE (which I own). To me and Amber module is darker than the Diamond module which is what I believe David is playing. Piano is not my main instrument, but I prefer the sound of the Diamond module over the Amber module. They both sound good and real to me, they just sound like different pianos. I may have to upgrade to the full version of True Pianos to get the Diamond module. I highly recommend True Pianos. Try the demo!

  • yeah..it is

  • great sound

  • you don't need to wear a shirt when you play like that. Dave, your playing is.......can't even find the words to do it justice my friend. Any chance of you making some tutorial videos? I for one one would really like to see some of that stuff. Keep the smooth stuff coming.

  • jazz fusion like chick corea, keith jarrett

  • check out some bruce hornsby ;)

  • About his shirt - we have heard many things already. :)

It turned to be an ad in the end, but basically Dave Rich sent this to us right away after he tested our pre-pre-release, without any pre-planning or discussion.

  • I don't know why people bitching about his shirt in the first place...people play music, not shirts...he's in the luxury of his own home. why complain what he's wearing? lol

Truepianos is awesome...I'm thinking about getting it. there's been alot of other things coming out lately so ya'll better step up lol

  • At least he can use the kit that he's selling and can actually play an instrument. Check out some of the demos for the MPD, I wonder how these guys got paid work.

  • amazing! i played piano for 15 years and now i have 1 guitar. after this video... now i will buy a midi keyboard again. fantastic sound, well done! great peaces of chords!

  • Like you chords. Some of these people miss the point. I, personally, don't own a Steinway at the moment. My Steinway plugin sounds way better than my spinet.

  • Just downloaded the demo and must say i´m really impressed.

So thanks for putting this video up.

  • The problem with True Pianos is simple: It just doesn't sound like a real piano. No reverb, mix, EQing can disguise the RAW sound which sounds nothing like a real piano.

  • Akoustik Piano is rubbish, so is True Pianos.

Ivory is the best right now, with Quantum Leap Pianos not far behind.

  • It all belongs on what you're after. Truepianos isn't rubbish.

Other good ones are the Sampletekk Pianos and Galaxy II.

  • sounds like the Yamaha Motif piano sound. sound okay tho

  • nice music.

  • Another thing, computers are nowadays fast enough to handle big sample libraries.

With the incredibly low prices of external firewire hard-drives, and fast processors, what exactly is the point of Truepianos.

Is it to cater for washed up- broke bumbs, who can't afford a computer that costs more than 400 dollars.

Here's my advice. Get a Macbook Pro, Lacie Firewire, Akoustik and you be in piano heaven, stay away from this garbage.

  • Thats not the point of Tru Pianos. Tru Pianos good enough to use within an expremely big and complex mix. Even with the fastest computer that money can buy, the less resaurces that a VST uses the better.

  • Yes, I know my spelling was horrible :)

  • you have to appreciate that when this was released this was not the case...

  • I tried the demo and this software is possibly the worst emulation of a piano I have ever heard in my life. Even the free 180mb Garageband piano is better than this garbage.

The Truepiano sounds nothing like a real piano, the attack, sustain and release is all wrong- no depth, no dimension no warmness.

Compared to the products such as Akoustik Piano, this is just a joke.

  • It isn't crap, you just don't know what your talking about, Ivory isn't better like your making out, what do you do, sit at the piano pressing one note at a time trying to be picky or some think, Ivory is the same and never will sound as good as a real piano.

  • That mic isn't very sensitive is it?

  • Of course not. It is so close that he had to turn down the mic level. If not then you would hear everytime he breathes and that would interferre with the piano.

  • heh.

It's an sm58 - kinda industry standard,- this demo was pretty much spur of the moment and I just rigged up a simple setup.

I think it worked ok for what it needed to do.

  • Beautiful playing Dave Rich.

  • hehe.

Thanks for the comments,- yeah I know nice shirt - next time I'll shave em ;)

    To answer some other points:-

The keyboard is a triton extreme 88

The sound *is definately* truepianos, - although I remember it did have a tad of EQ on it.

The vst is being run on the desktop computer which is under the main desk and the audio is being recorded with RME digicheck.

    :)

oh and I did try pianoteq, I didn't like it at all.

  • hi m8 that piano sound is nice, I have a Yamaha CLP-280 but wanted a few different piano sounds, could i use a piano module that has these kind of sounds that you use, Thanks

  • Hi, just a quick question in regards how different the 4 models are to each other.

I currently use the grand se from steinberg and the demo of 'true' sounded very similar, only with each of the presets just eq variants.

Are the 4 models just eq variants too or do they each sound like different piano models, cheers and thanx for the vid!

  • They are different models.

  • Looks like a Korg Oays 88 to me...nice

  • Great video and demonstration. Thanks to you I just downloaded the trial software, and I'm blown away. It's nice that this software is standalone, in addition to being a plug-in. It's only a 50 MB download!

  • hi can this work perfectly (for live playing, not recording) on amd sempron 1.8ghz ?

  • If this is the full version, dang. I've only heard the Diamond Module from the demo.

    Nice demo btw.

  • You need a new shirt dude

  • Anyone knows what keyboard is used in this clip?

  • Cool vid, it sounds great! I wish i could play like you heh.

  • I recomend try out Pianoteq.

  • where is the VST

  • i have just got it it sounds fuck all like that

  • those are some really great shoulders-I mean some great piano sounds.

  • lol do sum shulder prezz

  • Maybe in recordings? I still prefer a real Yamaha grand

  • God damn what I would give to be able to play like that. Sighs....

  • The demo version is superb! Blows Akoustic Piano away!

    Bags of sustain!

    Its really amazing!

And the developers are real friendly and helpful too!

    Stunning product!

  • I have the demo, it's relly great, good job !! Congrats ^^

  • As the time goes, we are going to ship EQ and Stereo Image plugins with TruePianos (which you can use with other your tracks too).

Until then, use Brainspawn Forte and stack as many 3rd party plugins as you want, such as waves S1 Imager, EQ, etc.

We are just two people developing it and top priority for the moment are Mac release and a new module, which tops the quality of the existing two.

  • Cons:

    - The release time is too long, but U can adjust it

    - Lowest notes not leftpanned, same issue on highest notes

    - No built-in EQ, although you can select some presets to come close

    - Some presets sound a little thin with too much stereo width. When you make a intimate song, then you wanna come more close to the instrument, a less wide stereo setting would help

    - Standalone the sound could be fuller and have more character. With some effects and more tweaking options it will be a killer!

  • Thanks for the posting, it inspired me and I tried the piano. I like it. Normally I

    use NI Akoustic Piano.

    Pros:

    - The TruePiano sounds better when you hit more notes together, you don't hear just

a sum of samples, the harmonics are better.

    - Very light VSTi, installation just takes a view seconds

    - Very suitable for ballads and sensitive songs with a lot of improvisation and use

    of damper.

    - Warm and realistic feel

    - Sounds good in the mix when listening to the demo's on the website

  • Are you using any additional studio equipment to process the steaming audio that I am hearing from the video. If that is just the plugin and nothing else that is a great sound for such a small file size

  • that is one really sweet piano, cant wait for its release

  • George rules... you should hear him sing as well! He also has a keen sense of humour! very talented with art and technology! (ladies.... look no further!)

Seriously though... I have been a supporter of his work for a number of years now!

  • That is a beautiful sounding piano. When is thig going to be released? or is it out already? And will there be different types of piano sounds available? maybe you could do a vid with a few different ones if so?
