Another fine example of what happens when new species are intoduced into a foreign habitat(aka invasive species, which in this case is a Canada goose). Why this is still practiced is a mystery to me, as it never ends well...
They haven't been introduced, they have been migrating between north and south America for thousands of years. They have also naturally spread to various countries in Europe. - go read a book.
Canada geese do not migrate between N.A. and S.A., nor do they migrate to Europe, they WERE introduced there. Next you're going to tell me that Mute Swans migrated to here in the U.S. lol.
I was just wondering. Your not American. But did you study here? You said your in the netherlands. You dont really have an accent. Just curious. not provoking anything lol,
In hind-sight, you are right... we should have at least tried to stop it. However I came half-way through and it was really already over then for the poor Moorhen. It is a pity.
I love Moorhen's they are my favorite animals they are endangered where i live and i feel bad for them and it is really sad for 1 2 die? how could it.?
That is true- he should have. That Dutch guy (78, but fit) was walking his normal route through the fields when the goose beat the living daylights out of him.
It's Illegal In America To Kill Them, We Had Some With A Nest Outside Of Our Highschool, Some Of These Geese Are Relentless, I Wonder When You Get The Right To Fight Back?
They just had a guy in Holland last week who got put in the hospital by the same type of goose- his arm got shredded by a relentlessly attacking Canadian goose.
That is a pity about your koi pond- those geese own it now until after they head south again.
If you look up information about the moor hen you will see it eats other birds eggs - which is probably why this goose went after it.

@GooseGrl172 geese...pffffft...we shoot them for sport here in Britain when we see their flocks heading over. I had over 300 last season...great fun.

What if you were 78 years old and had no weapons on you? I tell you, those geese can be bad-ass and aggressive.

Not sure about you, but in Illinois if we find a goose nest and the parents arent allowed we can shake the eggs violently and kill the goslings.
