How is it the cover versions have more views than the original artist? No one does it better!!!! He could sing the phone book and make it sound like a revelation.
It still boggles my mind that this song WAS NOT the hit it should have become. I first heard JLC when a former room mate worked at Atlantic Records in NY and he would come home with tons of stuff. I always said, get me anything lesser known or up and coming and then he hands me the Magazine CD and I was like HELLO, this is good and when this song started, I was floored.
Sadly, my cd of this has been stolen, but I am now searching the net for a replacement (plus the other releases).
The Dock Street Theater is back! And that means it is time to get Jump Little Children back together for a reunion. So if you have a way to contact any members of the band this is the time to show that you miss them and want to support them. DO NOT HARASS THEM though.

does anyone know the chords to this song? I've looked it up.. but there's always a chord missing when i DO find the chords! (I can't seem to figure out that one silly chord!)
This is a wonderful song, But I wish they sang clearer, it is hard to understand them. Joan Osborne is easier to understand, but JLC was a wonderful group.
the entire song is a tribute to a single, certain moment that comes with being in love. You are "in the cathedrals of NY and Rome" but rather than being overwhelmed by the mona lisa (i know, not a cathedral) or something that you KNOW is supposed to be a big deal, you are both looking at each other and thinking you should go home and "spend a lifetime finding love just where that is"...meaning that love you have which is so strong to make you want to leave is what you should be dwelling upon.
Well that's not entirely true...it was written while they were on drugs lol, but the lyrics are so loose that the interpretation is pretty much open. It makes me think of being at a fruneral after loosing someone close and not knowing what this life is all about. it goes through the diffrent parts of what goes through yout mind during the service and during the burial. "The line moves slowly into a fading light, a final moment in the dead of night."
@gopjigga Wow, that's not what I've been thinking about at all. The Cathedrals of Rome would clearly be religious, but I think the reference to the cathedrals of NY is really about banks (cathedrals of capitalism). There's so much in the song that's about surveillance and control (fences, watching the outsiders, etc). I haven't figured it out, but I think of it as a dark song.
Don't have enough chars to write the story out fully, but JLC moved up to Boston (& stayed in NYC for a bit) from SC for ~1yr, had a hellish time, and lost a friend & band member to a cult. The song is about losing that friend, as well as their awful awful time up north.
@gopjigga wow.. you got that wrong big time. it's "spend a lifetime fiding out just where that is" like finding out just where home is. it's just he sings it in a way that it sounds like he's saying love. trust me I've heard other versions of this song(sung by him) to find out the real lyrics. it's tottaly "finding out"
YouTube is weird, and somehow made a 5 minute video absurdly long. I've tried to fix/reupload it, but as it doesn't really affect the quality of the video (other than that terrible sound at the end) and just stops after the song's over, I figured I'd just leave it be.
Lovely. Sweet and simple. Love his voice. One of only 3 songs that I like by them: Pigeon, B13 and this. What does the electric fence refer to? Which border is he referring to? Is it more political than it sounds on the surface?
I loved these guys. They were really good! Sux they arnt together anymore

Elton John actually personally called the band after he heard this song to tell them how amazing he thought it was.

@gopjigga It's kind of interesting too. It sounds like he sings "spend a lifetime finding love" Joan clearly sings "finding out just where that is
