  • I have heard that this little girl is John's daughter. Correct me if I am wrong

  • @footguy31

It was John's second daughter Teddi Jo when she was 5 yrs old.

  • His Aunt was my English teacher back in the 80's, small world kinda info, not that it matters. I'm just looking for some Christmas music that my hubby and I can enjoy and this is a fun 80's rockin' kind of Christmas song that I'm gonna add to my playlist. The little girl couldn't have been any cuter!

  • This Video/song is the reason I did mine! IFLI!!! MERRY CHRISTMAS Y'ALL!!! :) Hugs too! :)

  • im going to dance that song joshua

  • I don't care for Christmas songs, but this one is one of my exceptions.

When I was a child I wished I was the little girl jamming with the band.

  • Loved this, it is hot, hot, hot - And, John's not so bad himself !~* Jesus is the Reason *~!

  • Oh gosh this song is so much fun to listen to!!! It always makes me wanna dance :)

  • That HAS to be the best Christmas song and performance EVER!!! I love it. Seen him in concert back in the 80's and just can't get enough of this tune!!!

  • i dance to this at work lol i love this version (=

  • kendi kendini baltalamak da bu sarkiya denir ;)..

  • best version..along with MJ's version =)

  • best version:)

  • OMG...........i love this video

  • Great Live performance!, What the fuck does Charles Manson have to do with John Mellencamp?

  • oh hell no

  • Well if your uncle Larry is in this he must be Johns lead guitarist Larry Crane. I have a couple of his old guitars. My moms cousin used to get old instruments from the band...........

  • Awe my uncle Larry is in this (:

  • Just Awesome He Is!

  • thanks to all that responded. Peace n love

  • yeah that's teddie jo.

  • yes that was his daughter 'killin' the end of that awesome tune ! lol

  • Fun version, bit of Cajun sound, I like it

  • I love this !!

  • this is easily my most favorite christmas song ever! It Rocks, but is a classic. And he includes his young daughter. Who can match that?!?

  • Twenty-how-many years ago? (JCM never ages!)

  • watch,country my ass!

  • lol..Two other guys and myself did this for our Junior High school Christmas concert almost 20 years ago I think the crowed found it to be relief from all the boring baby Jesus manger performances cause we got a huge standing ovation before and after our performance.

  • @LDKBBAB YEAH< WHAT A GREAT MEMORY FOR YOU.

  • true.. that is his daughter

  • In gona see him in concert in december! Reply if ur going!

  • @Mariorox10 Where is he playing? I have always thought he was one the truest RR artist ever. And one of the HOTTEST! I don't care how short he is!!!!!!!!!

  • @vic1161 This video was shot in dec. of 1987 at Market Square Arena in Indianapolis. It was shot earlier in the day and that nite he performed. What a show that was. The video for check it out was taped during that show. He put one hell of a show on that nite!

  • @vic1161 This video was shot in Market Square Arena dec. '87. They shot it earlier in the day and that evening he performed. This was during his lonesome Jubilee tour. He also taped the Check it out video that nite which was awesome! It was a good time!

  • @vic1161 hes in NY i think

  • Yes, its JM's daughter name Justice.

  • ohh his daughter is adorable!!!

  • yes Hunkola, that is his daughter singing at the end.

  • @cplegogame25 --- OK, thanks......but why no photos of John's wife from the 80's? I know he didnt marry the supermodel until 1991 or 1992. His first wife is like a big mystery.

  • @Hunkola watch some of his videos from then. He had two wives before his current wife. At least one is featured in one or two of his videos from that time.

  • @JanofTwoSisters --- Yes, I believe you are right.......she was in the "Jack and Diane" video, correct? I didnt know he had another wife before her?

  • @Hunkola check out on wikipedia. he married his pregnant girlfriend Priscilla in the early 70's, then divorced, His 2nd wife: Vicki, i think is the mom of the little girl in this video, he divorced her at the end of the 80's.

  • What a ____ is this????!!!!! Ok. I don´t get the redneck way; but come on! I like the jackson 5 version, that is more more better than this.

  • Boy oh John could whale this song. good rythum

  • . . . those were the days - awesome ! ! !

  • This is the BEST version of this song, hands down. (at least in my opinion)

  • Great version, even though I keep the Jackson Five's for myself, but this one has a very cute ending and John's voice is just great.

  • it's true, The little girl is John's daughter "Teddi"

  • great country version.

  • i love this one!!!!!!

  • the little girl at the end is so cute xox :)

  • juulirbbb ghndsewde nedfggghbtr ffghgtgft

  • do any1 no the name of the song :S liirics are

look out mamma theres a white boat cumming up the rivver?

any1 no plz reply telling me

  • @ButlerC01 Neil Young's song Powederfinger includes the lyrics 'Look out mama, there's a white boat coming up the river'

  • sooooo '80s....

  • Absolute best version of this song, Much better than Michael Jackson!

  • birdbrain: you are a pretty good argument against "saving the white man."

    Merry Christmas (and happy Kwanzaa).

  • Since Southern White Men "saved" blacks & gave them housing, shelter, clothing, medicine, schooling, religious instruction, employment for over 400 years, for anyone to make a comment like yours shows just how much Jews, Blacks, Browns, Yellows & Reds, say "Thank you" to the White man for 2000 years of generosity & love. Whites should cut off all trade with Jews, just like Jews cut off war with Germany & "Jews started World War II". Jews will disgard and bring down blacks (as they already have)

  • The 18th century called, bb -- they want their moral philosophy back. You can keep the soiled sheets.

  • true this.

  • I agree with Birdbath7. We are all entitled to our opinions!! Thank you!!

  • Johnny Hurts so good! I love this one for the season!

  • I tend to lean towards the conservative side. You make me ashamed to say that.

  • WHAT THE HECK!? John Mellancamp's music is about love and acceptence and loving one another. If you watch other videos he has done he has black and white people as couples. If you don't like it DON'T WATCH IT! And if a fourteen year old white girl is more open minded then you it shows how small minded you are to other groups of people in the world. God says we're created equal.

  • @emilyepps You go girl! This nearly 50 year old woman couldn't have said it better! It's young people like you who give me hope for our future. I love you and your ideals. Keep the faith. Keep the love and be an example to those whose ignorance are blinding them to what is possible when we open our hearts.

  • @birdbath7 I am so glad that you aren't raising my daughter! My girl's heart knows love without boundaries. Because of that she can see beauty where ever she looks. No blinders. Jewish, she sees that as the roots of her Christianity. Black, who cares? What is in the heart is what matters. I regret that your closed mind is keeping you from so many opportunities to embrace the world.

  • Love without boundaries has hurt only 1 race & one race alone:White Race! Jesus was racist. He fought Jew Pharasees, elders, Jewish lawyers, teachers. If you read gospel of John & insert "Jew" in front of every one of those characters you will see "Jews" tried to kill him Hs entire public life(3 yrs). Since Jews control 97% of media. 97% of your brain & thinking & how you will raise your girl "Jewish" not Christian & are opposites. One cannot feel hot & cold at the same time; they are opposites

  • birdbath, even if this is true, (which, personally, i agree with you) most people will never understand what we're talking about. now, in all honesty, they will understand, as a young white american female, i'm sick of white people in the world having to be the caretakers of the rest of the world. it's time they make something of themselves, and not have us hand it to them undeservedly. i am not a culprit, but the victim; i'm tired of being blamed

  • John Mellencamp is the one who turned "I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus" from a mushy holiday song into a great Christmas rocker. The country touch at the end was GOLD! I despised The Jackson 5's version and everyone else's readings. This was proof of when you do a cover you better kick some ass and John Mellencamp rocked here.

  • I heard long ago that the little girl singing at the end is actually Mellencamp's daughter ---- truth or rumor ??

  • Yes it is. It's John's daughter Michelle.

  • Actually, it's his daughter Teddi Jo. Michelle is older and would have been about 16 when this was done in 1987.

  • I'm sorry for the wrong information. I always thought it was Michelle, not Teddi Jo. Thank you.

  • @Hunkola This is ''TRUE ,,I heard the same when this video aired,, look at her eyes, ,,,same eyes,,,

  • @hewittgaugemusic

    same nose and mouth too.

  • @Hunkola I'm guessing that it's his kid, because for one thing- why would they have a random little girl on stage??? and two- she looks just like him

  • @cammarkgross --- Yeah the little girl does look like Mellencamp.......but how come we never saw John's wife from the 80's? I know he married the supermodel around 1991 I think.

  • @Hunkola DEFINITELY the truth!

  • @Hunkola As far as I've heard, it is indeed true!

  • @Hunkola truth

  • @Hunkola truth. I think her name is Justice

  • @JenieneM The daughter in this video is actually Teddi Jo, Justice's older sister. Mellencamp recorded another fantastic (and original) Christmas song named after her. Look for "Teddi's Song (when Christmas comes)" here on youtube.

  • @BananasInMyPassway thanks for the heads up :-)

  • @Hunkola: Truth! It's his daughter Teddi Jo.

  • This is definetly my favorite version of this christmas classic & theirs no ifs, butts or maybes about this choice of mine, I simply dig it. Even the jackson 5, don't hit it off with me quite like john and the rest of the band hve done. I thoroughly enjoyed this video too I might add...thanks for sharing and have a good one!

  • SC and JM rock

  • i cant belive its x mas already

  • Thank you - I wondered if she was related to him or to someone else in the band.

  • the little girl is John's daughter Teddi

  • Love this version - does anyone know who the little girl is?

  • LOVE this version and John looks GORGEOUS with long hair!!!

  • amen! ;o)

  • WOW thanks!

  • i saw my mom kissing santa claus, my dad was dressed like him, he still thinks i believe in him

  • my god, sooooo sexy

  • WAY BETTER THAN the regular stuff. Sounds really cool!

  • haha.. Charles Manson can only wish he looked half as good as John ..I have to disagree bc they look nothing alike with or without the long hair

  • Wow!!! You hit it dead on, he looks like Ol' Crazy Charlie!!! Priceless observation..

  • this song is very good, a good laguh

  • merry christmas! from the philippines. :)

  • i saw my housemate Nick kissing his girfriend Michelle under the missletoe

  • Kenny Aronoff is one of the biggest unsung heroes of music .

  • omg, John's daughter, when she's singing at the end is ADORBALE!!!

  • I didn't know he did a video for this song till just now; I have the song on a various-artists CD called "A Very Special Christmas", which was made back in the 80's. All the artists on it were at their career peaks at the time, & surprisingly, over half the artists featured are still around!

  • I love this video! Father and daughter are both cute!

  • you the man john

  • Now this is a great christmas song! Teddi Jo is so cute at the end!

  • I've seen close to 300 concerts from the 70's until now and I've seen Zep, The Who, E Street, Cat Stevens, The Stones and everyone in between. I saw this band at the Providence Civic Center on the Lonesome Jubilee Tour and they blew the roof right off the place. Best band and best concert I ever saw. Aronoff and Germano were outrageous.

  • This was John´s best band, with Lisa, Kenny... Lonesome Jubilee was probably John Mellencamp at his greatest. This band rivaled the Estreet band, they were so great. John never had such a good band again.

  • seems like yesterday, but it was 21 years ago, where in the hell did all that time go!

  • This is the cutest christmas song/video i've seen so far. Is the little girl at the end of the video John's litte girl?

  • Wait...wasn't he Johnny Cougar, back then ?

  • In a word--NO!

  • This is our country...

  • COOOOOOOOOOOL That Was The Song OF Our X-Mas Party

  • Love it! Thank you!!!

  • This is one of my favorite Christmas songs ever!!! It's great music for wrapping presents or fixing a nice batch of Christmas Cookies!!!

  • oooooh! it will be the song of our christmas presentation this dec.18 2007! tnx for posting that video!

  • This is one of my favorite Christmas Songs, Thank you for posting it JOHN!

  • My favorite christmas song of all time. Love that it totally gets me in the christmas spirit!

  • This is such a fun song!

Look at that hair! Is that Michelle singing at the end?

  • Nope, that's Teddi.

    Cute. Very cute.

  • Sweet! LOVE this song. Has me motivated now to start hanging the Christmas decorations!
