I don't think the catcher kept playing. He started puking and showing other signs of concussion. There is video of him being loaded into an ambulance with his head and neck immobilized.

The catcher was accidentally hit. Offerman didn't even see him because he was too busy swinging at the pitcher. So the injury to the catcher doesn't count. He assumed the risk.

Well, I've played ball, and I've also coached baseball. Unless the player is INTENTIONALLY beaned, charging the mound is inexcusable. If you think it should happen more often, then you should change sports to hockey or boxing. There is no place in baseball for people like you.

And attacking a pitcher WITH A BAT, is the lowest form of cowardice. Apparently Offerman is to much of a pussy to fight a pitcher without using a deadly weapon.

Apparently, Offerman was intentionally beaned, according to the reports. He had hit a homerun the inning before off of the same pitcher. Also, a bat is deadly, but maybe no more than the 90 MPH fastball that Offerman was hit with.

I've played and still do. Getting "dosed" as tney say, is inherently unfair to the hitter, it's like getting punched in the face and not being able to fight back. Hitters get angry because they have been placed at an unfair advantage, are powerless. Instinctively, you want to fight back, but aren't allowed to. I understand the emotion, some people can control the primal urge, some can't always. Offerman just snapped for a moment. I get it.
