wonderful. read on Feb. 10th at 24 year-old nephew's funeral. He had lived his dash well in his short life. I hope I can do the same. What a lovely presentation. Thanks for posting!!
I HAD A DOCTOR TO GIVE ME THIS POEM IN 2002, THERE WAS A HOUSE FIRE IN 2002, MY 2 GRANDSONS I HAD RAISED FROM BIRTH !! DIDN'T MAKE IT OUT OF THIS FIRE!
we changed the words slightly to be read at my brother in laws service, we felt that this was such a fitting poem R.I.P. James Reilly your dash will never be forgotten. 1949-2011, missed by all your friends and family.
this was read at my niece Tiffnays service and it meant more to me than everything tht was said because she lived betwen that dash n she lived it to the fullest, wit love for her husband, family n her freinds we will never find another person as true as my niece i love ya tiffers n will see ya on the other side one day until than baby girl watch over joshua n the rest of us that we find it within ourselves to find comfort with ur passin.....i love ya n really miss ya
@SAIVAUGHNSTK Just wanted to let you know that I'm glad my poem, The Dash has touched your heart and your life. I do hope it has helped comfort friends and family during this difficult time. ~Linda Ellis
You know.. I would have never heard of this poem except for the letter from the church libility company. I missed on the youtube video where there was a copyright notice and I can see where someone might think because it is on youtube with no obvious copyright info they might be able to use it also.. btw... did you also write the music for this video? and if not.. did you get permission from the owner of its copyright to use it also?
If you like this poem, be careful... you are not permitted to use it in any way (in a bulletin, in church, at a funeral, memorial without strict permission from the copyright owner. Our church just got a warning letter from an insurance company. Apparently the author's company has been carefully monitoring and enforcing it's rights.
@fiddledee15 Yes indeed, this work is someone's inspiration AND product. Thus they have every right to the work and to decide how and where it is displayed. It is a matter of ethics. It is a matter of law. It is a simple matter of right and wrong. Respect is a part of the poem, and yet disrespect is shown when the work is used illegally and unauthorized. This is why they invented copyright. This is why God gave us each a conscience.
Rest well Aunt Dot. As your ashes are spread today at 1pm. People will talk about your "Dash". As you said just a few weeks before you passed. You did EVERYTHING you ever wanted, Lived on your terms, Loved, fought, laughed, rode that motorcycle and most of all GAVE OF YOURSELF. Your Dash meant more than anyone may ever know. I Love you. Rest well darlin'.
This song was played at my dads funeral. im supposed to be doing a presentation of it this friday in language arts. thumbs up in good luck i wont cry </3
RIP Jordyn Podraza. She was one if my great friends and I love you and we all miss you. Rest in peace my dear, and we will see each other for the last time , tomorrow at your funeral. God had a purpose for you. You were a wonderful girl and the most generous person I have ever met. Kelly Podraza should be very proud of Jordyn. I miss you Jordyn and see you at your funeral tomorrow. :'(
AMERICANS FOR HEALTHCARE: Healthcare is not done, and will not be done until ALL Americans have access to affordable, accessible, world-class healthcare. 123 people should not die daily because we have a system that isn't working well. We will march on Congress in 2011 and will demonstrate the number of Americans killed yearly by a sick system that CAN be fixed. AND WE WILL DEMAND THAT CONGRESS ENACT THE LEGISLATION THAT WILL GUARANTEE EVERY AMERICAN THE BASIC RIGHT OF HEALTHCARE.
"Everyone has inside of him a piece of good news. The good news is that you don't know how great you can be! How much you can love! What you can accomplish! And what your potential is!"~Anne Frank. "Each day when we awake we know we have one more day to make a difference in someone's life" Let's make our dash count. :) ♥
this poem is so amazing. my history teacher showed us this today and it really touched my heart. it's definately something I'm gonna keep near to my heart.
and also R.I.P PawPaw. You were wonderful to me. I miss you more than words can express. We really missed you this christmas. but you were with us in spirit. I love you!
Bless your heart. .... Just remember, the day will come when the lord will come back for his people.. and not only will we get to go to heaven and praise him.. but we will also once again get to see our loved ones that have meant so much to us along the way. Peace of mind.
Keep beautiful thoughts deep within
Then there'll never be room to harbor sin
A happy expression will always show
And all around will feel the glow
You'll brighten up the dreariest day
And all your care's will drift away.
We all need to live this way.
