@synjim - Contra dance is a bit different from square dance though they share some similar moves and early roots. Contra is generally done to live music, the dances are generally not tied to specific tunes and the atmosphere is definitely more informal and the dance more improvisational. No classes are necessary for contra and almost all events are open to the public.
@wmloving4 Traditional square dance is also done to live music and is also in the open community form, meaning no classes needed. Modern - also called western - square dance is different though. It is almost always danced to recorded music, and lots of classes needed if you want to go far. Now you know if you didn't already. :)
Loved free-style dancing to it from behind the sound board. Have wondered what Keith thinks of this rendition ever since. A highlight of the weekend for sure.

@synjim In square dance the dancers form squares of four couples. In contra dance, which this is, the couples line up in facing lines.
