@halorper117 They did have chest plates, and back plates...with their grieves, bracer's, helmet and shield. Granted they were all brass, the metal of the day. And not all of them had nine packs....but their chest plate armor was molded to depict this for intimidation. Though yes, they were taught the mindset of dying in battle. Dying with honor kind of thing, but if they had no armor, they would have been conquered and killed off a lot sooner then they were. They were brave, not stupid...
