As far as throwing and catching a gun, I do believe Duncan Hunter had a good point. The NRA promotes gun safety for a reason. But there are good reasons for having the second amendment too. I call it having freedom and defending freedom. This includes the freedom to defend that which is yours. But lets practice safety.

Secondly the USMC Silent Drill Team has bayonnets attached... so even if the gun is unloaded ur in a bad way if u screw up. And what makes you think that the military is necersarily any more skilled at using firearms than an expereinced civilian shooter who probably shoots more often?

They dont even have to keep it loaded or even functional just visable that way when some punk thinks about pulling a gun to rob a little old lady of her pension check he will see a sea of armed citzens who can defend themselves and might decide to fight back.

Thank God the US supreme court up the US supreme court ruling on gun control. This man obviously doesn't understand nor appreciate military tradition and that the handing of these weapons as these marines did demonstrates their precision in handling weapons and potential ability in accuracy when firing them as well. As far as I know. The rifles that are used in the demonstrations by the marines are not loaded nor can they be fired. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Secondly we are now wandering away from the issue which is firearm safety. In standard firearm safety you do not throw a firearm period. What the military demonstration teams do, I think, is beside the point.

Throwing a firearm is throwing a firearm no matter if you are in the military or not. I do not think throwing a loaded firearm is safe or smart in any way but if it is unloaded and has been checked nothing can happen.

no you would be correct..those are rifles that have been crafted to look and feel like the m14 i belive..but they do not have a firing pin in them..so they are not able to fire any kind of ammunition...period..

BOHICA16 the USMC Silent Drill platoon uses real USGI M1 Garand rifles that are fully functional and operational. They just perform without ammunition in them obviously.
