That was a lot of pointless punishment. If the ref ain't gunna stop it don't he have someone in his corner that can throw in a towel? It's not just up to the ref to stop a fight.
Damn he got a beating, took all those punches, fought through all the grappling and then lost by submission. A pretty crappy way to lose a fight, from the loser's point of view.
Just watched Jake win his 6th mma fight--ko'd his opponent-also undefeated till now--as a former div 1 wrestler and mma fan the benifit of having the talent of a 4x aa and 3x div 1 champ goes beyond the athletic nature-balance & strength it's the unreal stamina they have coupled with the work ethic--desire to dominate - what an ideal package to begin with. Should be very interesting to see how long it takes to be a contender. Oh-watch Ivy League wrestling & Cornell's team! WOW big talent there!
I'd LOVE to smash the face in of the chick who was screaming constantly in the background for most of the fight. So FUCKING ANNOYING! Ruined watching it for me. What the hell is she screaming at? Did she actually think the guy she was screaming at could make any sense of what she was saying? Imagine how annoying it would be if you were there and your seat was next to (or even in the area of) that lunatic. Grrrrrrr she makes me so mad.
That ref seriously sucks. That's day one stuff. You don't stand right over the top of the fighters. That's stuff they told me from the start when I started as an official. You've gotta stand back, otherwise you miss alot of the fight
Think about it. Its so early in his career and he still has much to learn. More fights will bring him more experience and will also pad his record. By fighting in lower level shows he can do this without serious risk of defeat and then work his way to the ufc when he has all the necessary skills.
Jake already has a 7 yr contract to fight @ $100k/yr plus insurance, cars, housing, ect and splits all earnings 50/50 with this sponsor. It's a much better deal then the contract Dana White offers if you win the UF show.I'd say Jake is off to a great start, now 6-0 only downside is his face--not a easy face to look at! Too bad he's that ugly
Took alot of unnecesary beating. His corner must not love him very much or they would of threw in the Towel. If we don't want to see fighters turn into vegtables after they retire the ref or corner needs to get a little smarter and start thinking about stopping these things when a guy shows no signs of defense or escape.
most of those punches didn't get through cleanly, the dude just got overwhelmed. it was rosholt's wrestling that wore the guy out not his punches. that ref is known for stopping fights a little early, so if he thought the guy was ok, then he was. rosholt's pace just made the dude gas quickly and left the opportunity for the choke. good first fight.
jake is going to be one of the elite mma fighters in a couple 2-3 years. i look forward to watching him progress. way to go jake, keep up the hard work and good luck homie
