ok this much i knew. i was looking for this: say i had an app on my iphone. and had the updated version of that app on the computer, after doing what u showed. then how would i update it on my phone without deleting previous info? cause my wifi isnt working. and i wanna update. but dont wanna lose anyhting. please anyones help would be great :(

Awesome! Thanks a million. I never would have figured this out by myself. Apple builds good products, but they definitely went out of their way to make it difficult to figure out how to update apps via iTunes.
