There is something very soothing, relaxing and simple about these titles and music, shame they weren't used more often by the BBC. I remember watching the 1986 snooker as a 9 year old, but this music must have only been on way past my bed time.
i think that that was the best theme music for snooker. it also, for me, represents THE golden age of snooker. i cant find the uninterupted one without david vine talking over the end.
@TheRockinpneumonia I can see this used as walk on music for some player. But only if he does a long, wistful walk from a few streets away to the arena...
Perfect late night highlights show music, I reckon. Captures the wistfulness as the long term unemployed think "fuck it" and crack open a fourteenth can of superlager, and force themselves to stop looking at their stained tracky bottoms and take their minds off failure for once, and watch the snooker (Y)
i prefer that music soooooooo much more than the crap they have now, a bit more dramatic and it builds tension slighly, i dunno maybe im just chattin shit
Thank you for posting this, wow this introduction music has rekindled memories for me as a 14 yr old lad (25+ yrs ago!) staying up late to watch the world championship highlights on BBC2, Alex Higgins, Jimmy White, Kirk Stevens etc what a fantastic era. Snooker is not the same anymore! By far the best ever intro music! Thanks once again!

Vangelis. Very fitting. If this didn't put you to sleep then the next hour was guaranteed to leave you reaching for the strong coffee.

This tune was also one of three played whenever I went to watch the snooker at the Crucible up to around 2005 or so.
They used to play the original theme as the audience entered the arena, followed by the Pot Black theme, and then this. Good times.

Yes that's indeed the case, though I believe "frame of the day" was quite short-lived.
I think this music was sometimes used for the late-night highlights until the late 1980s.

This is by far the better snooker theme than the normal one. Shame they don't use it anymore.

I liked ITVs snooker tune from the mid 80s but I'm having trouble finding it.

It's no 'Drag Racer' by The Doug Wood Group!

I've never heard this version before. It's alright, but I personally prefer the other one.
