yeah man that part between 5:26 and 5:40 where the guy was talking about all of the put downs, but then how do you explain the popularity of glam rock from the earlier part of the same decade then? Marc Bolan looked like a straight up woman and so did The David!
But I see it never stopped them, didn't even stop that paedo Glitter from putting on makeup either. Only the devastatingly ugly Slade was the quasi-'manly' group of that time.
@jrmetmoi that's andy mccluskey from omd- he also used similar put downs when he talked about he band Japan- the video is on here, its called "Japan on Pop Years 1982"
@SPFXsynthesisers He says it with such conviction you think he's saying it. I wouldn't be surprised look at how he smacked Japan around as some joke. Numan's career wasn't shortened either. He was putting records throughout the 80s. They weren't as popular but the way he made it seem was like he gave up.
@paintedship I see what you mean but I sort of get the impression he means it from the way jounalists have been very cruel to Gary in the past-It seems only now Gary is getting the recognition he truely deserves-lets face it Gary Numan is a genius-I know that word gets bandied around alot these days and mostly about ppl who are anything but genius but I think Gary is one of those rare genius and he is very down to earth as well about it all.Japan were an awesome group also.
@SPFXsynthesisers I agree. He said: "I think Numan's career was shortened by nasty, nasty journalism", after those descriptions he mentioned about Gary Numan (plus the comments from Gary himself )
I'm sorry but the outfit that he was wearing back in the day sitting on that white couch is giving me all kinds of sex, the kind of sex that ends up on the floor from the bed, and then finally ends up against the wall.
It's the same outfit he wore on Kenney Everett doing I Die You Die. It's hot-ot-ot-ot-ot!
Fucking love this guy,not in a gay way but just fucking love him he is so down to earth and the fact is he is awesome.I contacted him asking if he would be interested in having a version of an old synth I have replicated in software and he got in touch with me and said he would be honoured.
My software is a recreation of the ARP Quadra synthesiser which GAry used on the Micromusic tour.Check my channel to see its developement-its nearly completed.
I know how gary feels :) I am a guitar player! always was into rock/punk music!! and one day I got to play on a synth :) it all changed for me :) I get grumpy if any digs at synths!! they are not a wuss instrument at all! very very powerful
That was an absolutely superb docu last night, weren't they all dead complimentary about Gary, espc. Andy McKluskey? Great stuff and thanks for posting!! I taped it last night as well :-)))
i was well impressed with the both shows last night.they included all the great stuff from the 80s that i love..and they gave a lot of credit to daniel miller who really was one of the first of the british synth artists
ive had the pleasure of seeing gary live many times and his shows are a fantastic experience and beleive you me this man is hot his synth melodies are incredible and although the german influences and human league and omd

why can't mainstream music be good anymore. WTF makes me so angry

Gary Numan is awesome-He has got the very first synth I designed for Kontakt 4-Gary and Ade Fenton have a the first copies.
It is a synth based on ARP's Quadra synth with added 16 step analogue sequencer.
If you want a copy go to my channel and see the video with the web address on.

You gotta love the classic Trim Phone and talk about Max Factor when that interview was recorded.
Gary looks a bit like Duncan Bannatyne from Dragons Den in this video, but with better skin and no botox!
