I've just had a lot of good experiences with the 4.2. The CJ7 I've got now has nearly 200k miles on it, and when I bought it, it had been sitting in a field for over a year. It didn't take much to start it up, and the motor just keeps running like a champ. I really never have any problems with it.
I've read about some problems with the 4.0, but I'm sure both motors have their pros and cons. I guess my opinion is just biased by my personal experiences.
with stock tires the 4.2 has enough torque to bark the tires up to third gear. The torque is incredible. I have cut off flowmaster exhaust and a weber carb and it cranks all the power out of that engine and it delivers well. I am going to try out the 4.0 in the next year though.

Unless you drive a Wrangler you will never get it. They are easy to work on. My hard top is off in minutes the soft top comes down in minutes. It has a bullet proof inline six,
cruise, A/C, six speed and seats that easily are removed not to mention carpet that can be taken out put on the clothes line and hosed off and drain plugs in the floor board. No other 4X4 comes close.. I driven them all.
You are right, after getting my jeep I have been very interested in off roading, I was a little bit before because of the land rover, they own but are expensive but ajeep is cheap and almost as good, but with that money you can modify it and make it better than a LR.

Lovely video! Jeep's Rule. I like XJ's, but I adore the Short Wheelbase jeeps...but if you're looking for the critter comforts in an extremely capable offroad vehicle....the XJ's a far greater Stocker than the Toy.

The pacing is pretty slow, try not staying on the same shot so long, people don't need to see all the prep befor hitting something, and all the way through stopping. and with the stills, put a little movement in there, even just a little zooming in, or panning them, anything, jsut get a little movement, even real slow suttle ones, they realy add alot to a video. definatly did a decent job with it, justtryin to help, definatly glad you were smart enough to have both a sound track and nat sound
