There are only a small handful of good metal bands out there. Nu Metal is alright, but it's like kid metal. I listen to the classics. Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Pantera, Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, Ozzy Osborne, Dio, some heavy as fuck, some not. But then preps thought that they could take over metal and they changed it. Now when people think of metal, they don't think of heavy, they think of screaming as loud as you can. Thanks a lot screamo bands >:(
i was wondering that i think maybe to confuse us ove4r the style of music rather than doing seprate videos to seprate bands to make it all sound more the same maybe lol
I think Heavy Metal sounded heavier when it was played slower by bands like Zeppelin and Sabbath. Back in the late 60s it was just called "heavy music".
What we now consider metal today is loud and fast, but I wouldn't consider it "heavy" so much. The faster it is, the thinner it usually sounds. 90s Grunge bands sound heavier, but I don't think they were ever considered metal.
So, I guess that's why "heavy" has been dropped and it's just called Metal, now.
Black Sabbath wasn't that heavy and Zeppelin wasn't heavy in the least. But you are right about metal sounding heavier when it's slower. Listen to doom bands like Saint Vitus, Candlemass, or Warning and you'll see what I mean.
Sabbath and Zeppelin don't sound all that heavy now, but keep in mind that relative to their time they were about as heavy as it got. Also, keep in mind that bands like Saint Vitus, Candlemass and Warning owe pretty much EVERYTHING to Sabbath's precedent.
The emergence of Hardcore Punk kind of changed the definition of "Heavy". Notice that sooo many of the initial Thrash Metal bands drew a lot from 80's Hardcore, and how so many of the "thin" sounding Metal acts out today have much in common with modern "Post-Hardcore" music.
Personally I think death metal sucks balls, but everyone has their own taste of what they like. I just don't understand why low death grunts and really hardcore fast playing is appealing to anyone.
I know what you mean!you should perhaps listen to:melodic death, atmospheric death,or technical/progressive death subgenres(there are dozens of bands with huge variety of sound/styles)-they have much more to offer than plain death metal, trust me!
haha i agree, who gives a shit what metal is better.. we all have something in common, and thats we all like metal, so lets go smash some rap/hip hop fuckheads :)
Best type of Metal? definitely NU-Metal.. I mean.. "Classic" metal was awesome, but when i hear metal bands trying new thing.. I got amused! I mean! woah! They are changing and it's cool that they are making changes.. after all.. we are sorrounded with changes..:]
Anyways.. You got to admit, Nu-metal has something much more developed than "classic" metal bands, and that is creativity my friends.. A vital thing for music..
Saying this, -"I"- conclude Nu-Metal - Nowadays Metal is better!
You forgot to mention the birth of death metal in florid, black metal in norway and experimental metal in the UK, then you have all the well know metalcore bands around now. Metal's popularity isnt determined by hot topic or MTV, you ignorant bastard
if u think that these bands r the best from nu metal then u r wrong.check out my nu metal videos for more.and u r from portugal,do u know a band prison flag from your country ?
I have to agree on System Of A Down...but I don't like a specific genre, I like industrial metal, alternative metal, power metal, original heavy metal...there are a few good bands in every subgenre.

What are you metal heads gonna do, show up with guitars and shit? The rap/hip hop stars are heavily armed with guns.
The only 'good' metal musics are those that aren't too loud or doesn't have the devil screaming in the background. Otherwise metal music suck!

Wow, good song, and good 'report' on metal. I really dislike the term 'nu-metal,' why couldn't the music industry think of a better name -_-
