@billymaysproductions Agreed. But thank goodness Germany lost. It also sucks when you are in several wars as we are now - whether we wanted to be in them or not.

@kaahaajaFIN You have to separate the "American people" from "American Policy". I certainly don't judge an entire people based on the decisions of their leaders, and I hope that others are as intelligent as I am and are able to separate the common people from the decisions (good or horrible) of their government. I said "whether we wanted to be in them or not (wars)" is because I personally did not get a vote in whether we went to war or not.

@centerice I believe the statue has been taken down. I'll ask one of my history buff friend where it used to stand.

@centerice This is the answer I got from my history buff in Germany: The monument

of the Germania is no more in the market place. It dissappeared after WW II

into the woods. Later it returned to a new side area. It was erected after

the victory against France in 1870/71.
