This is an amazing clip with great musicians; some of the musicians are from Third World Band , Kid Creole and the coconut Congo player. And of course Sly & Robbie!
The conga player from Kid Creole & The Coconuts is Coati Mundi (real name: Andy Hernandez. Self taught, he can play piano, percussion, and flute. Also, composes and arranges. Quite a talented guy.
My Jamaican Guy has such a cool lilting feel. The song gives hommage to Jamaica and it's men. Grace is a very special talent. I like how she continues to grow and reinvent herself. She has been fortunate to surround herself with great musicians, writers, producers, and picks good material. Also Grace has the knack for interpeting a song like no one else. Grace is admired more than she knows. Grace is an icon.
I have seen Ms. Jones 3 times in concert and everytime she was different, exciting, memorable. She has her own unique style. I love her and her music. She has style, class, and (no pun intended) grace. Amazing interpretor of songs!!
Its her balls that get her over....she goes after a song on a 'seek and destroy' mission. Thats why I like her. She projects a kind of aggression in her singing that has nothing to do with a method...Its just her, doin her thing. I love it...She would be so far ahead of the game today if she was still makin albums. No one like her....
Electric. I was buzzing off the opening bars and then she walked onstage, she has the presence of a black panther, no wonder shes a film star.
This vid was utterly enjoyable, she was in her zone that night. I also find it strange she never did anything with Bob Marley or Joan Armatrading, none of them had anything to do with each other which I find a little odd. Why is everyone talking about her in the past tense, did she die??
One of the most under appreciated performers ever. Grace was the bomb! And to think, she was considered under par compared to her contemporaries. She would blow most of today's singers out the water.

Miss Jones did an awesome FREE concert in Central Park a few years ago. The high point was when she jumped off the stage and ran through the crowd.
FIERCE!

I see has some influence on Annie Lennox, if not in music' at least in singing and voice style.
Influence doesn't meen copying, just adapting an element.
