  • I enjoyed this, well played

    Steve

  • If u go fckn that Wammy once more I will cut your fingers off and the whammy too . Nice job otherwise.Excellent.

  • How can you do this!? You never got the intention of the songs of the Carpenters, blame on you!

  • i just wanted to say i love this song and u do it perfectly dont mind wot anyone else says ... u should do a tutorial video ... id actually pay you to teach me this song start to finnish via video .... and solo ... ur an amazing guitarist ... i hope to b great myself one day lol

  • This is one of the best guitar solos i ever heard and you do it pretty damn good. Am trying to follow you note for note. Ive got to 0.37 so far but then those double bends are doing me head in. So ill plod on. Rome wasnt built in a day. Eh!

  • @murc2691 are u irish ... u said doing me head in instead of my head ... lol which i do and im irish ... lol

  • All I can say is wow! Nevermind those who says to 'redo the video', 'improve video camera quality' or 'use this or that. You did very well Sir, awesome cover/tribute. The best part is the honesty of artistically capturing all these in a video IN YOUR OWN WAY in a time when you really just like doing your own thang! :)

Kudos from a Karen Carpenter (and Tony Peluso) fan from the Philippines.

My Dad and Mom filled the house with The Carpenters' music as early as when I was around 7 years old. :D

  • @kagemane10 agree ... just redo w/ clearer video so us guitar hacks can steal your licks! haha...Other than that ...Very good!

  • Very good ,well done .

I've always enjoyed one of pops favourite solos.

    Ade

  • What a shame he has gone .. One of the all time classic solos.. Love playing it , not as good as Ray , but well !!

  • Such a gorgeous tribute to Tony, which you so lovingly presented,Ray.This is the utmost respect that one musical artist pays to another.

I'm terribly sad that Tony has gone, far too soon. But he left us this legacy many moons ago.So his beautiful music ws never going to leave us.And now,we can dream of the heavenly sounds he is making with Karen

  • Tony Peluso made history with the Bitchin' riff in the middle of a Love Song . . and it's been a hallmark ever since. You, Sir, . . have nailed it! Kudos! Oddly enough when I'm at home in Chicago, youtube doesn't have the vid ; but down here visiting my new In-Laws in Brazil, and came accross it! I think there's great version by a pipe-smoking music teacher in London. The guy (Stevie?), looks kinda like Orson Wells - he, also does it justice. Have you posted 'I'd love to change the world?'

  • Ray... This is abs. brilliant!! Thanks so much for your posting it--played it several times and sent it to others. Fantastic!!! Whit

  • not bad. Decent cover considering Tony Paluso's lead is one of the best lead guitar breaks ever recorded.

  • Anyways. awesome video ;)

  • great playing but at times you are way too ahead of the beat - gotta chill and lay back more

  • Wow

  • a great Tony Paluso lead for Karen Carpenter, but this is a good cover by Ray Barron !

  • Outstanding!

  • u rock man! i gotta do it! swear to god! i'm learnin' it from today lol

  • cool

//plays air gutar and pretends I'm the one playing//

    lol

  • Great ☆彡

  • really great playing ray this was one of my favoutrite solos of that time before I started listening to rock,I remember listening to my sisters album just for that bit!.

  • Really well played, man. I'm not afraid to say that I'm a sucker for creative pop/rock guitar leads, like Goodbye to Love, Player's Baby Come Back, Starship's Jane and the like. You seemed very comfortable with this one. I can tell you've played it a lot. ;-)

  • epic dude. im learning this today. i love this song

  • Divino

  • Very nicely played indeed. It's a great solo to play, isn't it!

  • Great job, just like the record.

  • Excellent playing

0:49, I can see you love playing this :P

  • Great.

  • Are you sure you're not Tony Peluso? :-)

  • Absolutely Marvellous !!! Could we get together some time, I have Karen's voice and am looking for someone like you. It's always been my dream to sing live, meantime I'll stick to private recordings. BRILLIANT !!!!

  • very good!!!! job well done~! we love this song.. find some great hits on my videos thanks :)

  • EXCELLENT JOB! MY FAVORITE SOLO!!!!

    Cal-el

  • Man that was great! Sounds like the original by Tony Peluso.

  • This is really great...what a talent! I, also, will check out more of your videos. Meanwhile, I will watch this hundreds of times!

  • Thanks so much. Best I've heard so far here, any others want to give it a try?

  • this is such an amazing guitar solo and not many people appreciate its beauty! ,,,, AMAZINGLY PLAYED! being listening to it the whole day!... thanks

  • Cheers for the response,Ray. Great to see you again,as always. You pay such a beautiful and highly-skilled tribute to such a legendary solo.(And your editing was also masterful - true genius).

  • Great job on a legendary solo!

  • Tony Peluso would be proud!

  • I love the solo and thought I would do a search to see what was on here.

All I can say about this vid is wow!

I've listened and watched this about 12 times tonight because I thought it was brilliant and you made playing it look so easy!

    Totally awesome!

  • Many Thanks ! And the Cheques in the post !!!

  • Excellent playing Ray, favourite solo of mine 5* ;)

  • Great stuff Ray,

the best part of the song

  • Sorry i ment a Standard Strat,..AKA, the original

    Glenn

  • Very well Done, clearly much time has gone into practising this, been listening to it since 73'I believe the guitarist plugged stright into the desk for the take on the original,..hard sound to match,A "STRAT" would do it more justice Ray,

    kind regards,best wishes Glenn

  • Perfect , watch whammy pitching though.

  • omg! thanks for posting that video to my song. thats incredible and u shud deffo form a band!!! x

  • Nice playin mate!

  • Totally impressed. PGAD

  • Deadly mate, sod the rest of these tosser's who slagged you off, made my day.

  • To add to my previous post. I agree with the other guy...re-do the video...drop the whammy, pay attention to the riff. Also...consider doing a "learn to do this riff" video...I'd love to learn it, as would others, I'm sure!

  • I didn't think too much about it, i just played it on the spur of moment, in my own way ! If you and others want to hear it like the record ( without Whammy etc etc,) put on the RECORD instead !!!! Easy !!!!!!!!!!!

  • ROFL...fair enough. Those who can do...those who can't post comments...LoL! Good job, and kudos!

  • just slow down the song, and transcribe it. It takes longer but

you'll learn it better than any tablature.

  • Last year, I was listening to Alice Cooper's radio show, and he went into a commercial break saying that when he came back, he was going to play what he thought was the greatest guitar solo ever recorded. Everybody must have totally been expecting some Hendrix, Stevie, Clapton, Page, or other notable riff passage. When he returned, he said his favorite riff of all time was the solo from "Goodbye to Love". He said he'd taken a lot of shit for that over the years, but I have to agree! It rocks!

  • That's awesome, I have always been crazy about that solo.

  • Ray..,

I always loved this song by the Carpenters, exspecialy the guitar riff. You have nailed it and I love it!! Thanks for the sound!

  • Ray. You are obviously good enough, but pleeease before you post it properly to the world, do another version without the fluffs and timing gaffs. Also lose the wammy bar and stop looking at yourself in the monitor, and concentrate. You only get 'one chance' to make a first impression.

  • Succinctly put, maccafan10 - a real pity after all that (otherwise impressive) work ....

  • I played the part of Karen Carpenter at a recent Gig with Ray.. who played the guitar solo superbly.. we hope to post this video on youtube shortly.. All Karen Carpenter fans (of which I am one).. forgive me !.but its worth it to listen to Ray's Guitar solo !!..awesome !!

  • Great job I think you nailed it.

  • yes

better thatn the original...did i just sat that?

  • this is one of my favorite solos ever. i haven't been able to find an accurate tab and i'm not so good at playing by ear. have you tabbed it out yourself?

  • BUENA, MAESTRO

  • that carpenters solo is undoubtedly one of the best guitar solos ever and you just did it some amazing credit. well done!!

  • Thanks for nice comment ! I might be getting a chance to play this 'live' shortly in a 'Gig' ... Cant wait !!!

  • You know you will be posting a vid if you do get to do this Live.(You know we'd never forgive you if you didn't mate.) good luck for when/if it happens.cheers.

  • Terrific! I gotta find the tabs for this one....

  • Frickin' sweet!!

  • YOU. WAIL. *bows before greatness* @O@

  • you put goosebumps on my goosebumps

  • Nice job Ray ! I´m from Brazil too and I love this music and this Tony´s solo.Do you have this tablature? I would like to get it !

  • you HAVE TO do the entire song, PLEASE!!!! :) i'm from brazil and i simply LOVE the solo you did. it's my favorite carpenters' song. :)

  • This was brilliant and one of my favourite solos - thanks mate! Awesome tone as well - what's your amp/ FX?

  • Hey...good job....the notes are all dead on. The actual recording has more of a "fuzz-box" sound, but this sounds great nonetheless. I totally rocks!!!! I love this song by the way.....Richard Carpenter....great songwriter.

  • Thanks for the Comment. I was going to go for a more'Fuzz Box' sound, but settled on this !

  • Nice job..that would be so cool to be able to play that. That's one of the greatest guitar solos ever.

  • I like it. Sound is a little off (sorry I couldn't help), but it is still really great.

    Nice Job <3

    -Mel
