I was divorced, child support (six daughters), Restraining Orders, and estrangement. Real men suck it up, give it to the Lord, and move on. I now have a beautiful, wonderful wife, and four more children (Two boys and two girls). I couldn't be happier. Don't drown in self pity or throw your life away by eating your gun. My friend's husband shot himself on the 9th of April..He was an Iraq veteran..He left behind 4 kids and one on the way and a lovely wife..Suicide in the military is a serious problem

As a Soldier, I disagree. The reason we have such a great military is because of our compassion, our skill, and our honor. Convicts have none of that. They would not care who they killed. You think we have "collateral damage" problems now?! It would pale in comparison.
Why? They don't deserve a chance? The majority of GED holders that enter service, end up leaving honorably. Why would you deny them the opportunity to serve and the opportunity to further themselves as citizens. The military provides opportunities and training they wouldn't receive anywhere else.
I think more stateside R&R would help lessen suicides too and maybe having and enemy with actually the balls to fight face to face and not just take pot shots then run away.

There is still a great stigma attached to those who seek help in the military--this culture of brainwashed belief needs to be eradicated!

no one with an education should be on the military's front lines.
we should gather all of our convicts and send them all out to war.
if they do a good job, we reward by reducing sentence.
if they die, its like killing 2 birds with one stone.
