Has anyone ever told you , you are a bit on the whiny side ? You didnt have to get into the HVAC Trade but you did...knowing full well the obstacles and challenges the job entails. Be thankful that you have a relatively safe career in a mechanical trade , make reasonably good money, and can support yourself. Loose a few pounds if youre having trouble getting thru narrow doors. Just stop whining and dispense with the entitle-itis crap. Many thanks .

It's not compressor or fan motors that differentiate good manufactures from bad. It's their coils and construction. Grill uses mostly recycled aluminum in their coils, same as Gibson and goodman. Recycled aluminum is pourus as hell, which is why they oxydize and fall apart before they warranty expires. Anyone who says all units are the same hasnt had that much field experience repairing them.
Thank the US government and there Council on forien relations or Trilateral commision lackys that sponser these crooked politicians in some states like Arizona or mexican whos sole job it is to get illegal aliens green cards jobs to disqualify competent american workers. This guy here could fix your home and i could. BUt fat ass home owner piece of shit. Could you get yoru fat ass up there to diagnose any sort of problem like this?
Get another job if climbing a ladder is too much of a pain for ya. Everyone just sues nowadays instead of having a bit of self responsibility. All these overprotective do gooders that want to turn the earth into one big happy safe nursery.
I dont see what the problem is, I've seen much worse in 18 yrs of ac work. If this guy knew much about AC units he wouldnt say heil pile. All of the manufacturers buy the same compressors, copeland, tecumseh and bristol. and motors, GE and Emerson, it just depends on the lot prices at the time they buy. Other than the paint color there is very little difference. I know, because I worked for Friedrich, Manufacturing, AC headquartered in San Antonio and have 18 years in the business.
hey rthomas, in this case the architect did fail to make that opening safe for maintenance personal. its his reponsibility to make the building safe for all whom dwell and work in the building. so your the idiot.
ever think maybe they don't design entire buildings around the comfort and safety of maintenance people??? if you don't like the access bring your own ladder you weenie.where are your tools, why wouldn't you bring a ladder or a saftey harness?i am so tired of people who only take themselves into consideration, the access is difficult for you so that means the architect is an idiot? your stupid.
my grandfather does acoustic engineering (soundproofing) on commercial buildings in arizona, and he also told me that in general all the buildings have horrendous electrical/acoustic design as well
I wouldn't doubt it. I see some hackery by all trades that would be prevented if only we had HONEST inspections done by the city/county! A large retail chain for example, I had 2 or 3 start ups in a row where i found disconnects missing, and disconnects mounted right onto the removable corner of condensing units. An electrical inspection should have caught them in each case. Yet they ALL passed? WTF? I had to tell them in each case when I had no way to access or turn the power off on the roof.
Hahaha. This reminds me of when I used to do air compressor repair work. Seems like they'd always pick the grimiest, oiliest, darkest, wettest, vermin infested shithole to put the compressor in, then never service it for 10 years, leaving it up to you to crawl around in the shit (literally sometimes) to find out what's wrong, while telling you to make it snappy because they are losing money. I remember climbing ladders like this with 5 gallon oil pails and grabbing rungs with one finger.
I enjoyed this video. Thanks for the momentary glimpse into what irks you. I think everyones been on a job and seen something where they were like WTF
Amen to that! I use a paint style marker when possible to mark them when i figue out which one is which. I also date all of my repairs. While that seemed to be common practice in the old days, people find it ODD around here that i date my repairs. :-/

While I've seen worse, I have to agree that having that sort of setup in a professional building is pretty stupid and they deserve to get sued for that.
Ive seen a lot worse too. What got me about this particluar one is that all they needed to do was install that ladder on the other wall instead. Then the latch could be reached, have leverage to open and close the hatch safely as well as grab that safety bar. If only we had inspectors here who cared to get out of their trucks and LOOK OVER the jobs! :(
Thats Pretty sad considering one of the best schools for hvac is right there in glendale az. Universal Technical Institute. I went there for Automotive but their HVAC classes are supposed to be the best.
i agree with you if no loaws are passed then there is no pressure on employers to keep it safe as long as that dollar comes in the door. but if you were new on that roof and out on a sunny day then you could def miss that step coming back in ...especially when your eyes have been adjusted to bright light
AMEN! You said it exactly! Also don't forget lots of times our eyes are burning with sweat as well if it's hot and that makes it hard to see all the more when you step into the darker areas form a bright rooftop! I almost missed a step today on a ladder job!
That is 99.9% accurate most of the time. It's usually the bosses. But some techs do take the path which leads to the DARK SIDE and just don't care anymore. :( Especially in Phoenix, AZ where we don't have to pull PERMITS or pass any safety or mechanical inspections! The CITY here to blame as well for letting it become corrupt!
Americans. On NEW residential it's usually barely legal or illegals from Mexico. Not that where they are from makes a difference. Many great techs are Mexican. It's the lack of training and the "Blind leading the Blind" epidemic in the Phoenix area!
Well in Phoenix and Scottsdale it is the worst! Just think of what I didn't take a picture of! This one isn't so bad in compare. I just happened to have taken a video though!
I work on commercial\industral equipment and saw all kinds of crazy things that builders did. I just was laughing because of the stupid builder and what they put me though!
Tough set of stairs.., Nathan Drake did it already.

At least they textured and painted the walls up there to make you feel more cheer.
Would not be fun packing a new compressor up that ladder though.
It could have been worse. Those could have been on the starboard side of the Concordia.

In AZ they will probably shoot you for filming. No one move to this corrupt state. Ten illegals would stack themselves up and make their own ladder.

They actually "UTI" Have Field trips there in Phoenix. It's one of the 3 week classes. The Do's and Dont's so to speak

Awesome. They should have plenty of "DON'TS" to show in this area LOL! Sounds like that school is a lot better than RSI.
