  • egh dont drop the camera

  • If you fall into an aeration tank you sink. The addition of air/oxygen to a medium such as mixed liquor or water results in the specific gravity of the medium to decrease drastically.

  • i work for a sewer pipeline maintence and constuction company, however, i am very bored with my job. i have been in treatment plants and have been thinking about going to school, getting certified, and getting a job in a plant. at 47 do you think iam to old for the job. and why do operator say it a dying trade

  • I bet there are some brown trout in there...

  • COCOLATE RIVER!!!!! YUM =]

  • gotta love it....

  • this is an aeration lane where sludge flows through we also waste some of it which is called SAS (surplus activated sludge) and we also return some of the sludge back up to the start of the aeration lane to starve some of the bugs in the water which is called RAS (returned activated sludge. if you were to fall into the aeration lane u wuld most definitly die unless you have a life jacker with 230 newtons boyency because the pockets of air in the lane will sick you.

  • funny you call it SAS... we in CA call it WAS Waste Activated Sludge

  • i want to drink that chocolate milk

  • I am a certfied Waste Water plant Operator. You would float in the areation tank as well or better than just water. While film makes

Waste Water treatment look simple the operation is quite complex. Unfortunately the profession is dying. This is one of the utilities that is essential for large masses of people to live together. Something needs to be done to interest young people in it.

  • I only posted a small snippet of the film I took of this tour. I found it the most visually interesting. Floridagrandpa is right the operation was quite complex and all the operators had to go through a lot of training and they have to continue their education.

  • amen grandpa, I'm certified in Texas and it is a dying profession, we need some new blood

  • certified in CA... dying breed, I am new blood. 20 year old grade 2 goin for 3 this april WOOT

  • 20 year old in 2nd grade, boy aren't your parents proud!!!!! ROFLMFAO

  • lol... let me try again Im a CA SWRCB Certified Grade II Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator haha not in 2nd grade lol

  • im a certified operator in mobile AL the way the economy is, expect a rise in intrest

  • @floridagrandpa Just wanted to let you know I am a class 3 water and wastewater operator in virginia and I am 25. There are a few of us around trying to keep it going.

  • @Eyewash03 Glad to see your interest. Yours is the last generation I believe that will be able to get in with out a specialize college degree. With out waste water and water treatment operators many people alive today would not have been. Your job is very important.

  • @floridagrandpa

With all do respect sir, I'm a class 3 in training, and have spoken to many experienced operators and never heard of anyone falling into one of these and living to tell about it. Im pretty sure you definetly will NOT float or survive falling into an aeration tank unless someone turns off the air because the water has no bouyancy. Its also very toxic. I agree with you though the operation is very complex.

  • @Darkman560 it has nothing to do with bouyancy,,you can not swin it be cause of the Strong currents the rising air causes,we have had 2 people to fall into our fine bubble aeration basin and other than smeiing bad they suffered no ill effect

  • @floridagrandpa About everything you said is wrong.

  • unfortunatly, pollution desroys our world & we can't stop it

  • if you fall in one of these you will sink you can not swim or float in it

  • Smells like shite!

  • Also what lookes wierd in the one close to my house they have life preservers around it, so it looks like some sort of strange swimming pool.

  • But do they put some kind chemical in it to keep it from smelling bad? b/c the place across the street from me had water that looked just like this but had no bad odor or anything.

  • This one does not have a chemical to deal with any odor but it is located away from residential areas and there was a decent breeze.

  • if it is properly working it shouldnt smell bad... it should smell like wet dirt when working right

  • @BlueEyed65000 the chemical is used for remoing smell is called deodurizer just kind of perfum

  • I'm curious, is this water clean or nasty? I used to live across the street from one of these places with a BIG resevoir outside of it and I always wondered if the water was FILTHY, I mean it didn't stink or anything.

  • The water is not suitable for drinking or swimming in at this point in video. Very nasty. At the end of the process, it is safe to place back into the river.

  • mmmm fresh water

  • nasty.....lol nice video
