Wish you could do an update. Do you have decent Internet on the upstate property now? We'd all love to hear your thoughts on Corzine, Europe, Israel's stance towards Iran, you name it. Hope you're ok. Take care from James in Canada.
@zeropointpower , I am going to shortly. I just had to get my stuff in order and it became impossible to do videos at the cabin, because of Internet issues.
We are in the same situation, but I have not found land yet. It's very frustrating! But yes, trying to be very self sufficient with no need (or little need) for money.
Kitten, my wife and I just watched the latest installment above. Why not drop a webcast via i.e. Stickam or Ustream? We are glad to see you in better health, esp as we have followed you for the past 3/4 yrs now. Get at us witchyz40 & BKPChe both on twitter. BKP TV & hotg tv here on YouTube. Peace n blessings.
I have to agree, that video really inspired me, when I was about to give up, on only having a small lot for everything. It is a real eye opener, and I now have so much more faith in what I can do too. They also have a website too. Really worth watching.

This is so encouraging. I need the "keep at it" type of help this offers. I will only have 1/2 acre and am now living in our converted garage. I still need a lot of help, and have a lot of work to do, and I believe this is what I have been waiting for, for so many projects still not finished yet. Just watching others work at it, will help keep me going. Not feeling so alone in this. God bless you for being willing to share your life, and lessons with us. I look forward to watching.
If you are quitting your East Coast Economic updates I hope when your little upstate NY Kibbutz will be a success. I'm trying to learn more about Judaism so I hope to watch more of those videos.
Hi John, We also had a fresh snowfall up here as well. I don't know why, but so far this has been the harshest winter for me in many years. I can't wait for it to be over. Too bad you have to wait longer than expected to go upstate. Hopefully you will be able to accomplish every thing you wanted to do before summer sets in. I'll catch you upstate at the end of Spring. Cheers!
I hope you'll still do YouTube, since I just don't have the time to follow the increasing number of people who are branching off from this central location. I just can't follow 20+ different people off-site. It's just not practical.
ECHAD (east coast homesteading and democracy) but don'y know if that would be in bad taste. Good luck john and watch weather carefully, it will get colder.
Controlling a country by having chaos like the British did? If that was true, wouldn't the price of oil be cheaper, because Afghanistan and Iraq are controlled by the United States?
Thanks for you video. Do you have any references/material that I can read up on concerning how to live with self sustaining ability. I am really interested in having a get away home that I can go to if S*it hits the fan. I will probably start with locating some arable land.I am just north of the New York state border in Ontario.Wonder if I should purchase some land in New York or would it be more safer and practical to just stick with my side of the border. course I have to locate some 1st. Thx
John, Please don't hesitate to ask me anything you think I could help you with on your new homestead. I'm so excited to see you and M. get up there on your property and start homesteading. And, I'm so happy to hear you continue to be healthy. I am looking forward to following along on your journey towards self-sufficiency. It's all good.
This will be a real service to humanity, from both of you. I have been debating the tradeoffs between city and country in the current context and it's not an easy decision to make.
It's getting close, just look at those food prices. I'll be interested in watching your as-it-goes videos- I'm going thru that right now. Got all the food/water; next stop: the chickens, with an expanded garden.
Well I forgot to say that I check in from time to time and will miss your input. My wife is from Maine We travel from iowa via NY turnpike. If you need physical labor help for a day or so Give me a shout. Free voluntieer to help you.or If You need something that I can bring.
hebrew bro's gardening, love it. Good to see you looking better!. If things go well with the project have you thought about doing a sort of live and learn bed and breakfast? Just a thought but could be an idea to share what you have learned and make a little to pay the taxes, ie self sustaining.
@texture6 Q about globebuckets: do you find it keeps the soil too wet for some plants? I made one from a soda bottle; found instructions on You Tube. But eventually the soil rotted the plant's roots.
You are looking good KK. Best of luck at the cabin and I am looking forward to following your adventures there. For a great resource, check out the web site IthaCan, a web-based social network where home food preservers in Tompkins County organize food preserving events and share information.
