The great thing about Glenn Ford is that, as he once explained, in all his roles he essentially played.. himself! And as he was a straight-shooting (Canadian) war hero, & very handsome to boot, he was always compelling onscreen, being one of the most quietly intensive & intelligent of characters. (And who doesn't appreciate the quiet but confident "tough guy"!) If under-rated, it's probably that straight-laced types don't get much copy in a sensationalist & gossip-seeking media environment.

"Glenn Ford: A Life" written by his son Peter, will be available in book stores at the end of April, 2011. I noticed it's already on sale on Amazon.

The Sheepman is one of my favourite movies,and I love Glenn Ford. He could do it straight,or he could do it funny.

For a long time instructors taught students to have the feeling you were “sitting” on a bar stool. I always believed we should have been teaching people to feel as though you were “leaning” back on a stool. The last thing you would ever want to do is sit in golf. One of the finest actors of all time -great in drama, in comedy, he did it all, masterfully.
In Brazil, his TV series "Cade's County" was titled "Glenn Ford é a Lei" which translates as "Glenn Ford is the Law".

i absolutely love glenn ford and i felt my heart elate with joy while reading your notes on the info that i am not the only person who appreciates this wonderfully underrated actor! Ford does not get the recognition that he deserves! he is on the same level as dramatic actors like Marlon Brando and the same comedic level as Jerry Lewis.
