President Obama not only signed CARS into law, but he also signed another bill into law allowing additional funding to extend it. The program was supported and praised by the Obama Administration.
For passing the bill and budget extension into law and publicly voicing approval of this program instead of vetoing to stop it, he shares blame.

I think the worst thing about it is some of the newer cars are worth more in resale than was given for them in the cars program. What a waste. Every single one of those cars looked nicer than what I have, but I love my car and it works, so its not a clunker to me. I can't look at a car as an inanimate object. They do too much to just be things, they have souls too. Kinda like genocide

It's called you go into the dealer and negotiate and if they won't give you what it's worth you walk out and move onto the next until one does give you what your car is worth... my car is TRASH, i wouldnt be able to sell it for more than 1,000 bucks. check engine light has been on since 06, if i lock it the alarm goes off bc it thinks the doors are open... AC doesnt work, radio doesnt work... every 3 months it dies on the road for w/e reason (its a '98 jeep cherokee) just got 4,500 bucks for it through this gov thing... lmao i do not feel like the idiot in this story at all....

I'm actually not sure if the Taurus is part of the program but its surrounded by clunkers. 1992-1995 BMW 325i that I have found officially gets 20 mpg combined. Too bad nobody told the owners or the staff. RIP 325i. You didn't deserve this shabby treatment.
If it's true that the BMW doesn't actually qualify then the dealer flushed $4,500 of their own money down the toilet by accepting it for the program, I think the government checks the details of cars and won't be reimbursing dealers for ineligible cars which they accepted.
1. unnecessary debt, a new car is a luxury and should be a personal choice. too bad they are destroying perfectly good but aged vehicles, so choices of a used car are going to be quite limited in the future
2. inflated prices on new cars because of artificially inflated demand negating anything gained by a 4,500 "voucher"
the program is completely unfair taking money out of my wallet so some other dipstick can buy a new car. its not right
