I listened to a sermon by the pastor here and was impressed at how gospel/christ centered it was, not about us trying to measure up. I am thankful for that. But THAT is what the church needs to be. It doesn't have to make all those superficial changes that make old folks uncomfortable and harm people's ears. That's selfish. The church really is for the benefit and encouragement and building up of believers, who then go and serve and evangelize their neighbors in their daily work.
This is more of Rick Warren's evil, endorsing hostile takeovers which dilute the message. (yeah I know his book tries to claim it doesn't change the message).
