if you got 2 rams for example 2x2048 MB its faster then onne 4096MB ram, so yes, it make your computer faster, you can play strong games f/e gta IV without lags ( if you got weak GC so you cant play with max res. etc) but ur pc is more stable. and sry for my english its veryyyyyyy bad with it :/

If you have the same case as that computer, there should be a lever that looks like an L on the back, i don't remember the exact direction, but u would push that up, down, left or right and then the cover will unlock and you can slide it off horizontally, not vertically.

jamie: as stuiped as it sounds the ram doesnt want to work with the other one or youput the most powerfull ram furtherest away from the cpu . try 1 putting the most powerful at the front and least at the back, or try putting only the new ram in closests to the cpu and try again . hope i helped.

Right i know this is a bit off topic. but still, i have a eMachines PC (E2464 i THINK!, in my friends house atm) i know its not the best but so what :P. i need to buy more ram but DELL and eMachines need their own 'specific' ram i was searching on various websites, like newegg, crucial and kingston and i cant find the ram for my computer model? i think it may mean that i can use any ram? but if anyone else has this problem, or a solution plz message me :D!

i gots a question, i have 512MB of pc3200, i want to install 2GB dual channel PC 3200. currently my 512mb stick is on the the first purple slot. should i move my 512 to a blue slot, and put my 2x1024MB sticks in the purple, install them in the blue, or just remove the 512 altogether and put the 2gigs?

Is the RAM completely compatible with the system?

If yes, then you can do that.

But the factor of taking out the 512, It also depends on the speeds of the ram. Say the 2GB is running at a high speed, because it was newer, and better, and the 512mb was running at a very low, if you ran the two gigs with the 512, the 2gb speed would go down to match the 512MB's speed, ruining the performance of the new DIMMS you bought. So I would just take out the 512 if it is at a lower speed.

the 2 gigs are DDR 400 MHz 184 pin, exactly the same as the 512MB. but the latencies are different. will the different latencies make any difference?

Lower, the better, it is the measurement between how long something happens in hard ware.Just install both, unless your motherboard has a limit.

Get a metal screw driver and rest it on the main power until inside to ground. Also i think the computer needs a clean out...looks dusty as hell ;)
