  • Guess the only way you could get it to stand would be to do what I did with the Heller P-39 in the same circumstance...glue it to a display base. I enjoyed your ending though, modeling goes "boink"! Karl :-)

  • Thanks god i bought the Academy Kit one! By the way, the end was funny LOL!

  • @spanish111japan Glad you liked it.. In 1/72 scale the Academy kit is about the best you can get.. :)

  • Why have the Hobbybosses used Snooks 2nd aswell as Academy?

  • @MilitaryAircraft101 Probably because it is a well known plane, and well researched.. or because they're lazy!! It's a well known but annoying fact that many model kit makers favour the same decal schemes on their models, which is a shame..

  • Proportions on the Hobby Boss kit are kind of hosed anyway. Part of the reason is I think they based it on the Revell P-39 from the 1970s and that had NOTORIOUS shape issues. The canopy is the worst offender.

  • @JMChladek Don't know if it's the Revell kit or the Airfix kit, but either way, yes I agree.. :) The Academy kit is probably one of the best in 1/72, but even that has issues.. :)

  • @BasicModelling Speaking of which, do you have plans to pick up the new Airfix Cobra in 1/72? I am curious to see if it is the Heller kit reboxed, some other kit or perhaps (is it too much to hope for?) a new tool. :)

  • @JMChladek I'm sending you a link in a PM..

  • I build a hobby Boss Sabre(the black one)

    but I didn't know that it was a tail-sitter:(:(

    how to solve those promblems??

and can I request that make a build vid of it??

  • @Aerolseventh You will have to try and put a lot of small weights in the nose wheel well, if you can.. other than that all you can do is try and glue a small stck of plastic, preferably from a clear sprue, underneath the plane, just behind the main landing gear.. that should stop it tipping backwards.. :)

  • @BasicModelling Thanks!!

  • why dont you open the front, put a heavy , close and put a paste ?????(i don t know if is paste or mass but u can understand)

  • @rodrigo32125 The fuselage is more or less solid.. anyway, I no longer have the kit, it was binned.. :P I'm not likely to buy and build another one, as I have done so many of the Academy version.. :)

  • Good try!did not this time man! ;(

  • @rodrigo32125 Can't always win, I'm afraid.. :)

  • its a funny vid, i built this kit and it WAS a tailsitter, but all i did was finish it and hang it up :D

  • @Ezza190 Well, I made mine fly...

  • @BasicModelling What? you threw it out of the window?

  • @Ezza190 No, it landed very nicely, straight in the bin.. :)

  • @BasicModelling aww, i wouldve done something with it, if id known about this sooner lol XD

  • @Ezza190 Well, it's probably been recycled already and turned into a lemonade bottle.. :)

  • @Ezza190 lol fair enough, my models still happily hanging from my ceiling, (despite being a tailsitter)

  • @Ezza190 Well, if it hangs it won't matter.. :) :) Glad you kept it.. :)

  • @BasicModelling ive still got an original Airfix model of the Airacobra :) very good fitting model (if you have plenty of filler)

  • @Ezza190 I was quite tempted to buy the Airfix kit when they re-issued it recently.. but as I have one more Academy 1/72 P-39 to build, I won't buy any more kits of the P-39, Aas that will be my last P-39 build in that scale.. I also have a Hasegawa P-39 in 1/48 scale, which is started, but far from finished! :)

  • @BasicModelling yeah i take your point about that, the academy kit is the best one i think.... i have over 5 Hellcats, all from the major manufacturers (plus the kits were ones that were given to me from freinds who couldnt be asked)

  • @BasicModelling I agree with you there, the brill thing is there are better versions (Academy, Airfix, Hasegawa, Tamiya...and the chain goes on, its always the same, every kit you build, theres always something better in another kit but the same type if you know what im talking about

  • @Ezza190 Well, these days the kit manufacturers often buy or hire the right to use each others toolings.. a prime example is the Revell 1/72 Saab Draken, which is the Hasegawa kit.. and the same goes for the E.E. Lightning in 1/72.. The Revell SuperCobra Helicopter is the Italeri kit, and ANY Saab JAS 39 Gripen you buy, be it Revell, Airfix or Italeri.. it's the SAME kit! So you need to do some research into what you are buying these days.. :)

  • @BasicModelling I understand where your coming from, i never knew though that kits had relationships to do such a thing :/

  • @Ezza190 It happens all the time.. especially with the Revell kits.. :)

  • @BasicModelling ah right, i see now, because years ago i thought that the kit manufacturers are under their own belt

  • @Ezza190 Well, they all were, once.. but I guess they discovered that it was cheaper to let somebody else do all the research and production work, and then if the tooling was good just hire them.. or again do what Revell did with the Matchbox range, and buy them outright! They keep reboxing and releasing old Matchbox kits regularly..

  • Well, I can t say nothing about , becouse I am in my first plane. Is a p-40 warhawk (hobbyboss) and is +or- this!! man i am braziliam and i like your videos congratulations!

  • @rodrigo32125 The HobbyBoss P-40 is an ok kit.. not brilliant, but when finished at least it looks like a P-40.. :) So you should be ok with that kit.. :) I built a nice model from it, but haven't got a video of that build..

  • o.0

  • @rodrigo32125 Yep.. my thoughts exactly.. :) :)

  • I just finished painting and building my Hobby Boss P-39; mine is also a tailsitter. :( I didn't want all my hard work to go to waste, so I superglued it to a small plastic platform, works like a charm :)

  • @microwavesix Great idea... :) Mine ended up in the bin.. :(

  • 2:19 - LOL !

  • Well, that's when I gave up.. roughly.. :)

  • @Virlando2 thats funny

  • @sms4you4 :-)

  • probably you ignored the instruction to use " HEAVY PAINT IN FRONT" lol :)

and you tossed it? it would have made a fine nose down wreck with holes here and there :)

  • It's long gone.. and may it rest.. in pieces..

  • oh you swedes...never save anything for the future and then you expect norwegians and danes to bail you out...so how much do you require this time lol :)

  • About half.. and some scrapings in a doggy bag..

  • done!

  • .. but not too much liquorice..

  • now you have moved the goalposts - hmmm, swedes ! :)

  • No, that would be cheating.. I have moved the odd Goatpole though.. with goat attached to it..

  • hope he has a goatee!

  • I said to my wife I wanted to keep a goat indoors.. but she said: "What about the smell"?

I told her the goat probably would get used to it..

  • that is precisely where the model bits went but don't lose hope, just scratch around thru the manure and you shall be rewarded for your labours lol :)

  • Manure?? Oh yes, that reminds me.. I better go and catch up on your videos.... :) :)

  • thanks for the compost ition :)

  • Well, the last video of yours that I watched was 'heaps' of fun.. :)

  • what a coincidence! I also used to be a 'pilot' yust like youse...on the farm I'd pile it here and there...:)

  • Man, ure one of a kind..

  • we're twins and urine can't deny it :)

  • This may well be the urin of the two of us..

  • well, at least we'urin the money,[repeat], blah blah blah :)

  • Peas, love and understanding..

  • and don't be alarmed :)

  • ..and why not? The end is nigh, and we will all have to convert to Buddhism..

  • or arctic gardeners, what ho? :)

  • Ho what?

  • Ho no sir :)

stolen from the film 'biloxi blues' a line spoken by Mattew Broderick...that opening vid can be found here at YT...:)

  • Good luck to all that finds it.. :)

  • WARNING TO PEOPLE WATCHING THIS VIDEO: If you plan on buying a HobbyBoss kit, DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME. I built a Corsair that had a poor fit, difficult instructions, and terrible decals. This may just be me, but if If your up for it then go ahead! :(

  • Yes, well.. I came to pretty much the same conclusion in this video, which is why it is called 'Almost a build'.. :)

  • Did you watch my HobbyBoss MiG-15?? Not all HobbyBoss kits are bad.. :)

  • Yes, airacobras need a LOT of weight, I experienced that too... maybe because the engine is behind the cockpit?^^

  • Trouble is, with the HobbyBoss kit there is NOWHERE to add any weight.. :)

  • Did you ever finish this kit?

  • I actually made it fly.... all the way into the bin.... :) I have an Academy kit waiting to be started..

  • Anyone can take a Tamiya or Academy kit and make it really nice, but it takes a true Modeler to take a crappy kit and get an excellent result!

  • Well, THIS kit was a disater from beginning to end!! But I have an Academy P-39 kit in the 'immediate' pile, which mean it could get started within the next couple of months, pending if I change my mind and / or find something else I'd rather do. I'm finding it hard to stick to some sort of modelling plane, forever changing my mind as to what I want to build.. but my next build WILL be a T-33 Shooting Star in 1/48 scale.. after I have completed the models I'm doing right now!! :)

  • modelling plane = modelling PLAN... :)

  • Yeah, not frequently but alot of times (about two or three months apart) I've started a model and when I come to an impass, or I can't figure out how to do somthing, I get bored with it and put it aside.

  • I have currently about 3 or 4 projects on the go.. but I can often start something, and then I feel I can't get much further and stop for a while! Then a few months later I decide to carry on, finish it in a day and wonder what the fuzz was all about.. modelling is a strange hobby!!

  • I built a HobbyBoss Corsair about three months ago. The model was good but the decals were TERRIBLE. This is just my experience, yours may be different because decals are so unpredictible.

  • Yes, I've found the same thing with the few HobbyBoss 'easy kits' I have completed.. :) The other range of HB kits seem to be ok though.. :)

  • i have the american P-39 seen at 1:10 i got it for $15.99 at hobby lobby

  • Is that the Academy kit?? :)

  • I know, man! I hate it when planes are Stabilizer heavy! I goota do all the cutting, and filling, and ehh!

  • This one would have been ok, if only there had been somewhere to put some weight in the nose.. :)

  • Hasegawa + Tamiya all the way. These come really cheap, I almost got lured into buying one, but THANKS! :D

  • Tha Academy 1/72 Airacobra is a beauty too.. unfortunately I no longer have my first video of building one, but another one wil be built soon, as I still have some Russian after market decals to use up... :) But I won't go near the HobbyBoss kit again, it has now been binned.. (a long time ago)

  • lol hobbyboss is the shittest model company ever!!

last time i got a tank from hobby boss

    its was ok

but it didn't even tell you wat colour were the tracks and they didn't tell you alot stuff so get TAMIYA or academy or get some japanese brands

  • HobbyBoss has a mixed range.. Their T-34 Tanks in 1/48 scale are absolutely superb! I've got one to do, and the engine is a model in it's own right! I'm thinking of building it and displaying next to the tank, rather than in it!! They also do a good range of ordinary kits, it's just THIS particular range in 1/72 scale that can be a bit dodgy at times.. :) Not many modelmakes tell you ALL what you need to know, but that's why we have books or the internet to search for information.. :) :)

  • can u send me a friend request?

  • Consider it done... ! :) :)

  • Wow, you summed it up pretty well. Funny to think they didn't consider tail-sitting, but hobbyboss kits are heavier and thicker plastic.

The simple one-piece detail is no match for academy's optional gun pods etc.

  • I summed it up rather exactly, I'd say.. Lack of cock-pit detail, (which doesn't normally bother me), the canopy just doesn't look right, and the lines are VERY faint, making it hard to paint.. The main airacrobra feature, i.e the 'car door' is almost invisible.. and finally the tailsitting, even though I filled it with more led than had I shot it with a shotgun!! I had a similar problem with the HobbyBoss Heinkel Salamander, but at least there I DID manage to get it in balance! :P

  • The KurtGnu fellow is building better models...^^ , but you did a nice conversion to the yet unknown tailwheel version!

  • Now, that is true... I just wish I had not wasted all those weights, but I guess I can always buy more! I'm seriously thinking about making an all over YELLOW Saab 35 Draken soon, or the all over black Austrian Draken.. or both.. :) Then again, I probably will have changed my mind by tomorrow.. :)

  • I have to corrct myself: There was a tailwheel version, the XFL Airabonita, intended for the Navy.. maybe you can convert it to that standard? (although it had different radiator, air intake, nose, and maingear)...

  • I didn't know that.. but NO, I AM NOT CONVERTING IT! NO, NO and NO! NEIN, even.. :)

  • RS Models have made a resin kit of the Airabonita, it was issued some 5 years ago, so I don't know if it's still available.. it looks a mighty strange kit though, having seen the model built in one of my modelling magazines.. :)

  • Thats Too Bad Rob! I Wish It Wasnt A Waste Of Money....Maybe If You Fill The Nose With Lead?

  • I did fill the nose with lead.. as such! Well, the best equivalent, anyway.. but because of the way the fuselage is made, it's too much plastic and so it is much too heavy! But it's not all a waste, and I haven't thrown the kit away.. I will use it to practise various modelling techniques I'm yet to master... :)

  • I hear uranium is pretty heavy. Maybe that works as a counterweight?

  • It could well do.. and power the plane to boot!!! :)

  • What is there to say?? :)

  • Indeed!! :)

  • Where is ludenapa in this orgy of self back patting?!

  • I don't know why he wouldn't leave a comment, I guess I better PM him.. :) :) (It's hardly an orgie in self patting, more a test to see that all functions are up and running..) :) :)
