My father has carried the same classic red Spartan every day for my entire life (I'm almost 30), I've been carrying one of my own for the last several years, and you can bet that I'll be passing one on to my children when the time comes. Truly built to last a lifetime, and you'd be surprised how many times you end up using that little corkscrew...it's saved quite a few parties for me!
At a camp that I go to (camp yawgoog) we have two fire buckets for every aderondec and one night my friends victorinox fell into the bucket and was there over night. When he found it in the morning he wiped it all down and let it dry out and even months after there is no sign of any rust
You do need a real review of one of these! I just bought a blue one and its beautiful and has most any tool ill ever need in one... its just a bit big i feel... keep it up
Nutnfancy project rocks! Miss the old Swiss army knife, so due to this Vid, I am getting another. If the knife is good by you, it is good to go.... Trust!
Can't stop watching those Victorinox videos.... Maybe because I'm anxious about my newest acquisitions coming in the mail: the workchamp and the swisschamp
I love how genuinely happy nutn gets at the end! "I can have this for my very own!?". You can just tell that his face totally lit up at that point lol.
father first gave it to me, if you can kill this tool, I'd like to know what you did to it, I've oiled it maybe twice in it's life time, and that's just because I felt like it, the tool didn't need it. This is probably the most reliable thing I own and I've got an sks. The Swiss know how to make things solid.
i absolutely swear by my Victorinox Swisstool, I've had it over 10 years and it has never failed me once. If they're still making them of the same material (which i'm pretty sure they are) I'd highly recommend getting one because you can't kill them like you can a Gerber or a Leatherman (I know i have). I've abused the shit out of my Swisstool and you can tell by the chipped red paint, but it's still held true and never rusted a single bit, it's as solid today as it was when my
Cool stuff! How about making the watch vibrate or maybe just shock the piss out of you when you make a hit. Nix the last thought, just kidding! Great music!
The "Tinker" model is something I think Nutin would like even more then the Spartan its basically the same thing, but the cork screw is replaced by a philips head screw driver, I've used it a lot, is the Swiss army knife i always have with me. Other then the name or if you a person who drinks a good deal of wine, I'd recommend the Tinker over the Spartan. (in my opinion)
This video made me just buy a black Victorinox Climber. I had a Swiss Army Knife as a kid but in the last 15 years or so it got displaced by Leatherman Tools. Nothing wrong with using both.
The first time I ever cut myself (carving soap stone) I was nine, and i used a Victorinox. It was so sharp I did'nt even feel it. Ahh, sweet memories.
I have a small one on my key chain... love it... thow I would ask them to rethink the pressure fit b/c the side paneling keeps coming off. I snapped it back on but it keeps coming off so I'm going to glue it...

You can most definitely take Victorinox knife scales off. CutleryLover has a great video on it. The guy meant you just can't literally take them off with JUST your hands.
Yo Nutn! Its absolutely off topic but if you havent seen "Simon's Cat" -you just have to=D About 20 000 000 vievers per 1 vid speaks for itself;) You too Veri;) Have fun while watching!
I still like Wenger better. I find the models with more of what I use and less/none of what I don't as opposed to Victorinox. I guess it's all the same company anyway, now. So It's a win across the board. Most used feature? Toothpick! Great for picking those narly grasshopper legs out of your teeth!
I always carry my cheap swiss army knife. Not so much for the blade but for the bottle opener, scissor and screwdriver. Always good to have one when you don't have anything better available.
Wouldn't mind getting one of these, though. But my knife, despite being a cheap no-brand item, has been serving me fine after 5 years of service so I guess I'll be alright.
as a designer it is really great to see one of these being made. these knives are true design classics, universally speaking, not just in the world of knife design.

Ugh I gota have one when I was a kid I bought a knock off Swiss army knife... I think it's time for the real deal! Bout to look at there sight thanks nutnfancy keep up the good work. Tnp
@nickoloes I don't think I'd use it much as a toothpick, it would possibly be useful for removing wood splinters? If I get the Trailmaster I'm thinking about I guess I'll find out, it has the toothpickpick and tweezers and a one hand opening locking blade. If? Who am I kidding? WHEN I get it LOL.
@Whisper6911 In fact it's a mentality thing. Like americans who are obsessed by their haircut, we swiss are obsessed by our mouth hygiene and because most/every swiss has at least one swiss knife (I have 5 or 6) you're sure you always have a toothpick with U. ^^
@nickoloes You are right. It is also very unhealthy. Using the toothpick for it's "original" purpose dosen't seem like a good idea ... although it proved excellent for cleaning the knife itself and other MT's and folding knives.
A knife with a story is always the best kind of knife! Too bad it wasn't labeled "limited edition" or "handmade" thats the only way it could get any better.
I don't know why Victorinix wouldn't release a video like this themselves, it's really interesting. Sometimes it takes an independent observer to find these neat little things.
90% of these guys commenting have no idea what their talking about. "i just watched 10 nuntfancy videos in a row so im going to repeat what he said then ill sound smart "
@Deep13Deep13Deep13 I found one in the mountains in the mid 90's. I'm guessing it had been out there around 4 months in the snow (under a ski lift so I figure it was lost during the height of ski season. Found it in the spring when there was still a lot of snow). To look at it now you would never know. Been great and has held up over the years even with the exposure.
A Victorinox Tinker was my first knife with a Boy Scout logo from when I was a Boy Scout. Now I stepped it up became a Marine and I still carry the Farmer alox model everyday.

On that Mosin video you are doing, please show details of your scope mount and the please tell us why you didn't mount a 1-4 power scope with long relief.
I wonder how they marketed this..it would have been extremely successful if they gave out free raffle tickets and once they gave out 50 or whatever have everyone watch it being made with a camera fixed on his hands so everyone can see, and then give it away at the end. If they could do the same thing with a gun or knife it'd be real popular. Especially if they did it like every hour..and it'd be quite low cost after they pay for that machine, just parts..
@nutnfancy look, I appreciate the effort otherwise I wouldn't be a subscriber. But it seems to me nutn's getting overly confident on account of the fact he's got so many subscribers and swivels the camera, running his mouth and dicking about, which is cool and funny every now and then, but gets old pretty quick. Go ahead and don't give a fuck about my comment, I'll have my say because someone needs to say it. Great work, but let's not get conceited. Cheers.
@gavranarh We're not here to be verbally abused by idiotic comments like "buy a fucking tripod". If you don't like what you see....LEAVE. Nobody will miss you. If what you see is old, then walk away. Duh. -- Veri
@gavranarh Lemme just say this too. What Nutn does here is free to you and given gladly...however, any criticism should be leveled with the same respect with which Nutn treats his viewers.. So when you roll in and say something completely idiotic like "get a fucking tripod", what you've tried to express is lost completely because you just come across as a giant DICK. There are many ways you could have said that, and we would have been glad to listen, but not THAT way. -- Veri
Oh, and one more thing, lol. The Spartan has been part of my EDC for many years, and I love it. Victorinox, please consider replacing the corkscrew with another tool for your U.S. users; most of us have never used it. It sounds like our European brethren do use it, though.
I had the same problem with my "spartan". If you like the size of the spartan but would rather have a phillips driver over the corkscrew you should look into getting the "Tinker" model. The are the same tool as the "spartan" but the corkscrew is replaced with a phillips driver. I find the phillips driver to be much more useful then the corkscrew.
@drzmanproject try to buy the new swiss army soldier knife 2009 from victorinox. It has a screwdriver instead of a corkscrew. I just don't know if they are to find in the US. I can send you mine ;)
Watched it twice (so far); what a great marketing idea for Victorinox! I wonder if other manufacturers do the same thing. I'm sure I'm not alone finding it fascinating to see how something is made and how it's put together. More influential for me than a cheesy pen or Post-It pad with the logo on it. Lindt chocolate, though, would still get me every time, lol.
Cool video just wish everyone had been a little more sober for it because this one really rocks. Please get more like this where we get to see inside stuffs, things being made etc! Go undercover and infiltrate these companies for months then bring back the report. Or just make another Spartan- that rocked! =p
My favorite victorinox is the victorinox soldier or soldatenmeisser. It got all I need from this kind of pocket tools, and it comes with a comfortable handle. Not to mention the genius serrations.
Fantastic

On that Mosin video you are doing, please show details of your scope mount and the please tell us why you didn't mount a 1-4 power scope with long relief.
Thanks

I wonder how they marketed this..it would have been extremely successful if they gave out free raffle tickets and once they gave out 50 or whatever have everyone watch it being made with a camera fixed on his hands so everyone can see, and then give it away at the end. If they could do the same thing with a gun or knife it'd be real popular. Especially if they did it like every hour..and it'd be quite low cost after they pay for that machine, just parts..

nutnfancy, buy a fucking tripod

@gavranarh lol...you ever try using a tripod at a show? Doesn't work.

@gavranarh Just don't watch. We can do without your snarky little attitude. -- Veri (Nutn's sister)

@nutnfancy bonus points for use of the word snarky hahaha
JAndersonIV 1 year ago

It sounds like our European brethren do use it, though.
drzmanproject 1 year ago
@drzmanproject

Sparky6string 1 year ago
yeah, more swiss stuff. got to love it!
LUNDOR chocolate? you know, that sounds pretty funny to a swiss guy. I want to to say Lindt&Sprüngli.
Greats from Basel ( Switzerland )

My favorite victorinox is the victorinox soldier or soldatenmeisser. It got all I need from this kind of pocket tools, and it comes with a comfortable handle. Not to mention the genius serrations.
