Ask some people who were in Vietnam during the war and talk to them personally. I won't bother you with my experiences during the war, but I did meet some Canadians there and you should talk to them or talk to some of Thais and Australians that were there.

I don't know who Lt. calley is. Al that I know is that everyone thinks that the U.S. got raped in vietnam. They didn't South vietnam lost over 1 million soldiers. Case in point, they're in charge of Vietnam today. Victory in war is not a matter of body count if a matter of achieving the strategic objectives, the US failed this important task and so it lost.
