That's one of the things, that have been bugging me for years:

It was 2000, right, when some world leaders agreed to abolish extreme poverty by 2015, and I remember thinking, how great that would be. But it seems, as if this promise has become somewhat forgotten. So thanks for reminding, Oxfam and Scarlett!

Unfortunately, many Americans think that you can end poverty through government handouts. Welfare destroys self esteem, civic pride and any sense of personal responsibility.
