this could or could not be just a simple writers mistake. In the beginning of the scene, they are standing in the hallway due to the fact that Howard has just raced across the hall to try and get lucky with Penny's 'whore' of a friend. During the rest of the clip, Raj only looks back once to see Sheldon blocking Penny from his view. He then focuses on the TV. He could have just simply thought Penny went over to kick Howard out. He does not talk again until Penny leaves, after Halo.
just trying to think as Raj would. No way would he have thought after the mention of Halo, would any woman want to stick around to watch. Then Penny offers to be a fourth, and he no longer says anything. In fact, after she talks, he is then sitting, probably sulking because he had spoken in front of her.

wasnt it untill the 9th or 10th episode of season 1 that the characters got more detailed? In the first episodes sheldon only knocks once on the door, its not a mistake its just that the writers had not made all the details. Just my opinion tho. :)

I never would have noticed if it wasn't pointed out. Besides it was a quick attempt to defend himself directed,away from Penny, towards Leonard. If it really bothers you, you can all just assume that the comment was not really meant to be heard be anyone else in the room, but Leonard. It was just funnier for him to say it much louder.... I was hoping someone got a clear enough shot of some of the equations and wanted to fix an error; or, maybe an incorrectly named or explained theory/law/postulate, but this is just Raj talking while Penny is still lagging into the apartment. I've known guys like Raj, that happens in real life, sometimes with a weird look on their face between 4 to 20 seconds later.

There's plenty of these mistakes in the series. In the Bar Jar Conjecture, in the final scene, for example, Leonard is sitting in Sheldons spot and vice versa, and Sheldon just rolls with it.

If you watch where he's looking, he's never looking at her and thus might not have known she was there. She doesn't talk to get his attention until after he speaks so there really is no breach in anything since he wouldn't have noticed she was there until she spoke.
he didn't see her right away so he talked, just like in later episodes, in example when they go to a conference as a group raj talks to Leonard in his hotel room because the lights are off he doesn't realize penny's there and when he finds out penny's in the room he is quite again.
@ivanxdxd2008 I still love the show. Gotta consider that Sheldon is one of the best sitcom-characters ever written. And their comradery offstage shines through in the episodes, so that makes it very enjoyable and cozy to watch... That being said.. I agree with the video poster. Raj's fear is speaking in front of women and he spoke in front of Penny. He whispers into Walowitz's ear most of the time if there is a woman around. Raj KNEW that Penny was right outside the door. After all, she WAS in fact hanging out with them (it's pretty clear in the clip). All these excuses people are making for Raj, are just lame excuses. They messed up, deal with it. I don't see why it's such a big deal that they made a mistake.

This has been brought up before, and I watched the scene thoroughly. As the guys come back into the apartment, Penny lingers in the hall a little longer; Raj's back is to her while he gets back into the game; . He started talking on impulse forgetting Penny was around - A natural human instinct.
But, again the line is good and funny. So, mistake or not I don't care.

As stated in most of the episodes mentioning this fear, he can openly talk infront of women, which he does on multiple occasions, but he cannot speak to the directly......they mention it in almost every episode how is that hard to understand >....>

Many of you are right, he might have forgotten about Penny for a second, or didn't see her coming in (unlikely, remember her friend 'stole' her apartment) but I think it's a bit far-fetched: Small blooper ;)

I agree with the video poster. Raj's fear is speaking in front of women and he spoke in front of Penny. He whispers into Walowitz's ear most of the time if there is a woman around. Raj KNEW that Penny was right outside the door. After all, she WAS in fact hanging out with them (it's pretty clear in the clip). All these excuses people are making for Raj, are just lame excuses. They messed up, deal with it. I don't see why it's such a big deal that they made a mistake.

First of all - it's not the producer's "mistake" - it's a mistake in that case made by the director. The producer does not handle the scenes, genius. Second - this makes no sense. Raj isn't talking directly to her in that way. I know how shy guys like this works in real life - and it's authentic here. So stop with your bullshit, kid.

This has been brought up before, and I watched the scene thoroughly. As the guys come back into the apartment, Penny lingers in the hall a little longer; Raj's back is to her while he gets back into the game; . He started talking on impulse forgetting Penny was around - A natural human instinct.
But, again the line is good and funny. So, mistake or not I don't care.
I love The Big Bang theory, and its entire cast so much!

As stated in most of the episodes mentioning this fear, he can openly talk infront of women, which he does on multiple occasions, but he cannot speak to the directly......they mention it in almost every episode how is that hard to understand >....>

@heartlessshadow16 The only thing they state is that he can talk in front of women when they are mixed in with a crowd, otherwise he is not able to talk to or in front of a girl unless he is drunk, drugged or whatever next, (I'll leave that for produces to decide). Just read the description. Many of you are right, he might have forgotten about Penny for a second, or didn't see her coming in (unlikely, remember her friend 'stole' her apartment) but I think it's a bit far-fetched: Small blooper ;)

@Punkrockaddicted Bro, there are plenty of episodes where he talks INFRONT of penny, but not directly to her. He'll talk to howard or leonard openly, but whisper in their ear when he wants to direct his talking to involve penny in the conversation.

He has spoken in front of Penny, Sheldon's mom, Bernadette, and Amy openly, but, never to them. As soon as he has to speak to them, he whispers in Howard's ear...hmmm, I need to go back and watch the DVD's again, lol

@Punkrockaddicted Sad to say that I noticed this little whoopsie when watching it too. But hey, it's an amazing show and this was the first season. They do a lot to get details right and I think we can cut them a break every now and then.
Btw, to add to your case, in S3E04, Raj is unsure of whether he can talk or not while Penny is outside the door (not even visible). And I'm pretty sure that some of the things in that Halo game are inaccurate. But again, who the hell cares?
