  • just curious is this the kicker that had like half a foot or whatever?

  • @WhenimBoredPro yeah it is

  • @WhenimBoredPro club foot with a special shoe. Could hammer the ball

  • What year was this?

  • bet the ravens wish they had this guy

  • fake because the field goal is not in the middle of the end zone look at 0:15

  • @jared4865151 thats what it used to be like and the goalpost is not in the middle of the endzone today

  • @jared4865151 your a dumbass

  • @BeatTheHeatNigga look whos talking nigga thats funny because thats whaty you are

  • @jared4865151 He kicked it on like the 37 yard line. If the post were in the back of the endzone the ball would have to kicked at like the 53 yard line to be considered 63 yards

  • ol' stub foot Dempsy,I'll never forget that kick!

  • his leg strength is prob really good. he kicked that thing with a slow and short run up. crazy good.

  • the fact that this was made in new orleans makes it more impressive than the 63 yarder made in denver

  • That's 53 yards the post was on the goal line

  • @5abi78 The kick was made from the Saints own 37 yard line = 63 yard FG.

  • @5abi78 The ball was kicked from the saints 37 yard line you retard. it was a 63 yard field goal

  • Comment removed

  • 53 plus 10 yard inzone. 63 yards from foot to field goal.

  • @iluvtacos82 there was no ten yard endzone, the uprights are on the 0 yard line

  • @TheREDWINGSofDETROIT yeah, but the ball was kicked from the saints 37 yard line. so it was a 63 yard field goal

  • that night the kicker got laid

  • He took the record by half a foot!

  • the raiders tied it

  • @fcbarcelona812 So did the broncos back in 98

  • imagine if that were joe buck doing the commentary, it would sound something like "dempsy kicks it......its up.....and good"

  • lol METAL BOOT TOE BASHER

  • damn, barely even any run up too

  • Wow, the announcers don't get as excited as they were back then. Joe Buck= "Manning throws it.....Nicks with the catch...touchdown"

  • Janikowski gonna beat him one day

  • oh yeah, he got laid that night

  • ref jump for joy why dont you

  • These days it would be a 15 yard penalty for excessive celebration.

  • LMAO the ref

    "Get up baby, get up!"..."YES!!"

  • Epic. That probably made that lockers life.

  • That's great

  • Field goals, even back then, were not kicked off a tee. If you watch the video, you'll see a holder.

  • He kicked the ball from is own 37 yard line, so because the goal posts were on the goal line, the kick was 63 yards, you idiot.

  • What's with the goal posts being at the front of the end-zone? That makes it 53 yards.

  • @thegolfguy1234567 No, because the ball was kicked from their own 37 yard line you retard

  • @gamelvr1 Don't call me a retard dude. I didn't notice that, but you're right.

  • @thegolfguy1234567 You had the audacity to try to correct someone when you didn't know sh** about the subject. Only a retard would do that

  • @gamelvr1 Haha, dude calm down. I know a lot about football. At least modern-day football. And now the goalposts are at the back of the endzone. I didn't know they were forward like that back then.

  • The fact that he had half a foot probably actually helped him kick it. The flat surface helped the impact

  • he kicked with half a steel toe boot, and half an arm

  • the best sportsman are black ! deal with it !

  • Did you now he had a deformed foot and no right hand? So i guess handicapped people can play sports...

  • @DallasCowboysFan7 lol he basically wore a mallet as a shoe and hands are pretty irrelevant when your job is to kick a ball. but you are right about one thing

  • Such an inspiration to watch. If you like Field Goal videos check out mine., My nephew is the kicker for USC as a true freshman. FIGHT ON!

  • Did anyone notice that the uprights were 2 yards into the end zone instead of at the back like they are today?

  • This is amazing because it was an NFL record AND it was for the win!

    #clutchSWAG

  • holy shit that dude took like 2 slow steps

  • @Brucewentlive also he has half a foot to kick with, no joke!

  • @TheWPPOgaming Yeah..his show was also flat in the front club style. This added some controversy to the kick. He had swagger for sure.

  • @themetalchef *shoe

  • why is the worst nipple piercing reaction ever in ever fricken related videos list!!!

  • @abuhalab1000 It's in some other videos too, I have no idea why.

  • "National League"???!!! It's not BASEBALL(LOL)!!!

  • The NFL had the goalposts on the goal line from 1933-1973, they were moved back to the end line in 1974 for safety reasons and to counter the World Football League doing the same at the time.

  • only if refs had enthusiasm like that now...

  • @thomaskicks12 he probably had money on the game lol

  • did u guys know that this guy only has a half of foot?

  • @tombstone9173 Janikowski attempted a 64 yarder, and it hit the upright, but it had the distance, its actually in the related videos over there >>>>>>>>>

  • It looks like didn't even try

  • This record could have easily been broken by Morten Andersen of the Saints back in the 1990's who REGULARLY (on kickoffs from the 30 yard line) put the ball through the uprights on the other end of the field with TONS of distance to spare. Morten Andersen was never allowed to go for the record out of respect for the half-footed Dempsey record. As evidence, the longest anyone has ever been allowed to even ATTEMPT a field goal is to TIE his record, never break it. It's kind of an unwritten rule

  • @tombstone9173 Kickoffs are also off a tee, and the kickers are given a lot of room to run up.

  • who dat!

  • he barely even kicked it..wtf

  • Well stupid, he kicked from like the 50, so since it was on the goal line it only counted as a 63 yard kick. Now in days now that the post is back ten yards that kick would have only have been a 73 yard kick.

  • @Noarocker it also wouldn't've made it.

  • @Noarocker He kicked it from his own 37 yard line...

  • hesa lucky the post was in front of the endzone and not the back

  • wtf wwhys it in slo mo

  • Love that toe kick lmao

  • For all the younger youtubers the goal post used to be in the front of the inzone back in the early years of the sport. I believe 1933 or 1932.

  • @Slickrick9113 even later than that

  • lol first and goal.. lets run it up the middle..

RB.. uhhh im not sure about that coach...

  • i once kicked a 63 yard field goal!!!!!!!!!!!

    it almost reached midfield

  • Comment removed

  • @CollinsLMM the uprights were at the goal line until 1974.

  • @CollinsLMM its still a 63 yarder though. he kicked it from the 63 instead of kicking it from the 53 like we do today but it still counts :)

  • @CollinsLMM That is how is was back then.

  • @CollinsLMM its is in front of the end zone because that was where the goal post was put originally in football until the 1974 season when they moved it to the back for player safety.

  • @CollinsLMM Watch the Adam Sandler video The Lonesome Kicker for an explanation.

  • @CollinsLMM ( back then they did that because the had straight towed kickers, but once they had soccer style kickers they moved it back because they could kick farther

  • @CollinsLMM Yes, That's how the NFL had them until, I think 1975 and this was from 1970. In the mid-seventies there were complaints that too many field goals were being kicked instead of TDs scored so they moved the goalposts back to make field goal attempts harder, like it is in college and high school ball in the USA. Canadian football still sets the goalpost on the goal line.

  • @CollinsLMM that was football was like back then. obviously, you're not a real football fan.

  • @MrShakenbake930 tecknaly its 73 yrds now.

  • @15rricci no its not u idiot get ur facts straight

  • @rankpossum yes it is cause it is 10yds to the back of the endzone..

  • @CollinsLMM That's how it used to be.

  • @CollinsLMM its still like that in the cfl

  • @CollinsLMM they removed it because of safety hazards..

  • Comment removed

  • @CollinsLMM dats what it was like back in the old days. deal with it

  • An awesome clip. Thank goodness we have it.

Does anyone have a clip of Ola Kimrin's 65 yard preseason field goal from 2002?

  • everyone who views this there is 2 links you need to use for longer goals 1 . /watch?v=muI0ULBSWmw and 2. /watch?v=O__pg9AV2wY

  • why is the goal post there? it's like in the middle of the end zone.

  • @Livindead8023 that's the way it was in the NFL before 1974, they changed it since people would sometimes smack into the post when they ran in for a Touchdown

  • He only had half a foot! Which makes this even more amazing

  • @TheAwkardBalloon Actually, that makes it easier. A flat surface will kick with more force than a pointed one. Jason Elam did this with a full foot, now that's impressive.

  • I REMEMBER BEING AT THAT GAME BUT I COULDNT SEE BUT I COULD HEAR CUZ I WAS INSIDE MY MOMS STOMACH

  • in today's nfl he wouldnt of made it because the goal posts got moved to the back ;)

  • @KSIxLegacy Yeah because if the they were at the back of the endzone at the time, that would have been a 73 yard attempt instead of a 63 yarder

  • You mean Janikowski , right?

  • Stumpy :)

  • Damn I wonder what the fuck would have happened if he took like 10 steps

  • @EminemRocks1991 hahah right?

  • SAINTS BABY :D

  • Some of you younger folks may not realize that this happened when the goalposts in the NFL were on the goal line, not at the back of the end zone. He's kicking the ball from his own 37 yard line. The line of scrimmage was their own 45. When the soccer style kickers came in and started hitting from the 50+ range people complained because they were kicking FGs from their own side of the 50 and miss back then was a touchback. That's why they moved the goal posts back, not for safety concerns.

  • that looked like the weakest kick ever but it exploded after

  • Does anyone know if he got some different type of shoe that's illegal to use now? Cause he's kicking with his toes, which none does anymore because it's a hundred times harder to aim plus is doesn't go as far.. =)

  • @Exuktas umm he didnt have toes... he only had half a foot.... you can google the shoe he wore

  • If anyone cares, the Raiders' kicker tied his record this september.

  • @tstirling13 Jason Elam (Broncos) hit a 63 yarder in 1998.... Matt Bryant (Buccaneers) hit 62 in 2006

  • @Doug19752533 And Sebastian Jainkowski also nailed a 63 yard Field Goal this year in 2011, in Denver of all places.

  • @Jiltedin2007 - Denver is the easiest place to do it in the NFL. The air is "thin" in the mile high city, allowing the ball to travel farther. This was a reason for concern when Denver was given a MLB franchise. People thought there would be a ton of home runs at higher altitude.

  • @TuberOnTheLoose

Just like Jason Elam did. I should write to the NFL that all Record Breaking Field Goals made or tied in Denver should be stricken from the books!

  • @Jiltedin2007 - I wouldn't go that far. If he did it, he did it. It's not his fault he was in Denver. I remember reading that they considered something along those lines for the '68 Olympics in Mexico City because of the altitude.

  • @TuberOnTheLoose I7ll tell you what, if Sebastian Janikowski could match that feat against the Chargers in San Diego, I will keep my mouth shut!

I say this because the altitude in San Diego is Sea Level.

The Field Goal made in the video was done outdoors in a city that is Below Sea Level.

This Field Goal was made in 1970, at Tulane Stadium. The Louisiana Superdome was not built until 1975. The Saints played their games outdoors until 1974.

  • homosexual

  • Id be able to kick it 1million miles but they dont let you use your third leg Owell

  • from what i understand he has like half a foot and its made of wood

  • @codmw2isagoodgame your way wrong

  • @TheAalen i know for a fact he has half a foot

  • @TheAalen

he does only have half a foot, but there is no wood involved

  • It doesn't even look like he's trying compared to modern kickers. Kinda shuffles to it and gives a kick that barely even brings the leg above his waist. Crazy. With modern techniques. he's be kicking ridiculous length field goals.

  • Saints r so beast assholes

  • so what? i do that on madden all the time. and on All-Madden difficulty too

  • @ImSoOffended you kick that in real life to? lol

  • @ImSoOffended Only a brainless moron would equate a virtual achievement to a real life one

  • He was born without toes on his right foot and no fingers on his right hand.

  • the best part is that he only took 2 steps, imagine how far he could kick with an actual running start?

  • And the Aints ain't won since. lol

  • @dallas5sb You forgot about the SB they won a few years back? Lol. A real fan, you are!

  • @dallas5sb They won a supebowl since this you retard

  • omg how heavy is his foot haha. he barely moved lol

  • The Saints have won!

  • he didnt even have a running start... he just went up to the ball and flung his leg forward....

  • Yea dempsey!!!!!!¡!!¡ Get big

  • 70yard magnum....

  • Heres me breaking the record with a 64 yard!

    watch?v=bUncKfHuwNM

  • At the time Dempsey made this kick he was 5-15 in kick attempts. It could only happen to the Lions.

  • thought this kind of stuff only happened in movies :O

  • Surprised this didn't result in prospective NFL kickers sawing half their foot off...

  • Alex henery will set the record

  • should it be 5 points for hitting the pole of the post since its harder

  • Was that Detroits Alex Karras writhing on the ground in anguish? LOL

  • Who dat!!!!

  • That one referee looked happy as fuck. Jump for joy, why don't you?

  • @Ironman374 Hell, I would be too. Its an NFL record. You just witness history.

  • Sweet.

  • It's sad that people only knew about this because Janikowski tied it just a couple weeks ago. Dempsey was a straight line kicker, not a soccer kicker. Harder for those guys

  • his foot was rigged.

  • @atwater63 Lol. He had performance enhancing shoes. They didn't test for that back in those days.

  • no... dont kill him... it was good

  • this guy had a club foot, it shouldnt count lol

  • didnt this guy have a clubbed tow though?

  • was he in slow mo? look at win he kicks it

  • did he kick it with his toe?!

  • @Eggbert2003 No. Because he didn't have any toes on that foot (birth defect)

  • Holy fuck he walked 2 steps into the kick

  • shockingly little effort put into that, wtf

  • National league history? This isn't the MLB lol

  • @philster00700 NFL stands for National Football League soo i dont know why your saying its funny he said National League and I dont know where the hell you would get MLB out of that.

  • @The2011NP I was just pointing out that he said NATIONAL LEAGUE instead of NATIONAL FOOTBALL LEAGUE which made me laugh a little, chill out dude.

  • @philster00700 what the fuck are you talking about? hahaha the National (Football) League... not the MLB's National League.

  • @philster00700 This was in 1970. in the 60's you had the National Football League (NFL) and American Football League (AFL). By saying "National League" he was saying it was a record for the NFL.

  • @BHoz77 I know. Ok from now on I'll stop posting sarcastic comments on the web because certain people can't react to them very well (Not you btw)

  • coulda made it from 63.5!

  • Imagine having to play goal line defense with that pesky goal post blocking your attack...or having to throw the ball hoping you don't donk it off the upright.

  • Nobody will ever again make a field goal from their own 37 yard line.

  • @JSSTyger maybe seabass...

  • @braodjumper1, not to mention that he was missing half of his foot.

  • TANK DEMPSY thats what I call him

  • He was born with no toes idiot

  • @blakfloyd haha dude, i dont need a science lesson. i am well aware of differences in air pressure. thats why two of the 3 records were set in denver, and why punters love playing there so they can set their own PRs

  • Look when he kicks it.... it looks effortless.

  • He didn't do it soccer style, either.
