Your work is amazing...thanks for all the great songs...if you take requests: Final Fantasy Adventure's Fight 2 (aka Seiken Densetsu 1, Sword of Mana'a Courage and Pride from the Heart.
Wow...this really reminded me of how sad I actually got when I Aeris died, at that time I really had no idea it was going to happen. I lost my virginity to that woman.
Verdegrand, I'm highly impressed by the quality of your videos. I'm always happy to see new stuff comming from you, because I know I'll love it. Thank you for this, and hope your hands are getting better and better ;)
@cheapsheep4sale unfortunately they are not, they have gotten worse and this is way below what i could once play, but i have begun with rehabilitation measures that seem kinda promising, let's see how it goes.
@32bitSmoky thanks man, and wow i had completely forgotten about that cowboy bebop music box theme. i love the cowboy bebop soundtrack a lot. also that gotta be the only jazzy music box i have ever heard haha
ha, what a coincidence that you should upload a music box arrangement almost at the same time as me :P yeah, i've known about these music boxes for a while, they really are perhaps the most valuable FF collectible out there - loved your arrangement btw, and i just checked the official FF music box arrangement of aerith's theme and it's slightly different still! this video is a valuable treasure, just like the music box itself ;)
@daigoro789 haha omg you are right, wtf, we both uploaded a music box video not only on the same day, but within the same hour. are we soulmates or what? lol, unbelievable. and i had no idea there are actually sheets for a music box aerith's theme arrangement, i should have checked earlier haha. would have saved me a bit of time. but i tried to imitate the actual box so there is some stuff in my arrangement that's not in the sheets. but god to know, i have to seriously check out that book now...
@Verdegrand haha, yeah, a real crazy coincidence there - there must be some sort of psychic link at the least :P yeah, the sheet book is pretty cool - definitely 'unusual' among FF sheet books, maybe i should record more...or even the whole book - haha :) but hey, glad that you did your own version of aerith's theme, adding that verdegrand sparkle that's not there in the official version ;)
I've seen one of the music boxes on Ebay, but it's beyond most people's price range thought. I can save quite a few euros by listening to you play it everytime I want to hear Aeris Theme ;p
@CleverDjembe haha thank you, that's nice of you to say, come back anytime :) yeah i don't know if i'd be willing to pay so much for a music box but it is indeed a beautiful item and one of its kind. i'm curious how the next ebay listing of this box will go, lol.
@tkuzzz look this box costs like 1000 of Dollars with whats inside and i dont think you want to give out this much of money only to lay it somewhere you dont find it anymore!
@tkuzzz item condition is most important for collectors, to such an extent that items in pristine condition (best) will be a multiple in value (more than ten times in a lot of cases, if i see this correctly) than an item in poor condition. Even the slightest scratch, dent, mark or stain will lower the condition rating. Also, fingerprints contain moisture and that can lead to stains and more damage over time, on a long-term basis.
@ArchersBowHaveBroken haha yeah the blue gloves looked like cleaning gloves at first, but it seems like there are special gloves that are specifically designed to handle such items. i don't know exactly, though
At one time, this is used to be my favorite Nobuo Uemastsu composition. Always got me a bit teary from moments leading up to the death of a fan favorite character. Nice opening and ending to the video and as always, great piano skills. I enjoyed it.
@dannysimion thanks a lot, and yeah, this is one of uematsu's "standard" pieces, i would think. some of FF10's pieces sound a bit like it too if i remember correctly. the way it was used in 7 was unforgettable and it has that mixture of beauty and pain that is so difficult to describe and that makes this piece so special in its own way, imho.
I can't believe I've never heard of this music box before!! You matched the broken-chord-music-box playing style perfectly. And I love your sound; this may be the highest quality piano recording I've heard on YouTube.
@docnanomusic haha i couldn't believe it either when i first saw that box. thanks for your comment, i was kinda concerned that i went a bit overboard with the broken chords but it seems that it turned out to be enjoyable. and yeah the sound quality is out of this world, TheIshter did a great job on that. I shall hope to get into all that software stuff a bit.
@magicturbo9 hey thanks man :) about the renditions, i actually don't know too many different ones. the orchestrated one from the concert CDs (distant worlds etc) is really nice, but i actually enjoy the piano collections version a lot, it's a great arrangement, i hope to play it someday. and i guess there are tons of fan remixes on youtube or ocremix, gotta check some of them out. also listen to josh chiu's violin/piano recording, it's amazing.
@Verdegrand Yes, there're many renditions.. Distant Worlds is beautiful as well as the piano collections though there are so many remixes.... not that you have to watch it but there's an official OCremix version here /watch?v=jlrZVdE0YAw ...... It took me awhile to appreciate it tbh...... I saw that piece from Josh the day it came out =P.. Beautiful indeed... the emotion he puts into his playing usually catches my eye
@magicturbo9 oh that's a nice rendition. that entire remix album is really cool, too. yeah i know what you mean, it's kinda hard to appreciate that version at first. i feel reminded of the dance scene from ff8 for some reason, it sounds so similar to that :)
I read your tweet. This was totally worth the wait. I seen this music box a short while ago, it's one of the better ones. I also enjoyed the Radical Dreamers music box. I wish I had money...
@LoneWolfOnTheHeights hey thanks for reading my twitter :) yeah those music boxes are amazing. the radical dreamers box is nice too, but also costs a ton. why do they always have to make ultra limited editions of that stuff haha
Greetings from the Gooseberry! Haha, I was hesitating between Aerith's Theme and Zanarkand when you said the next video would be an overplayed piece... But bloody hell man, you still managed to bring something completely new to it. A really great transcription that you brought to life, it gave me goosebumps just by listening. All I can say now is that I love you, and I want to have your babies.
@GooseberryMk3 haha thank you so much for your kind words, i appreciate them a lot :) yeah To Zanarkand is also often played , I actually like the ingame version a lot and might play it sometime in the near future. thank you for your continuous support!
awesome.. i usually am not a fan of music boxes but I dunno. I always enjoy whatever you come up with cuz it's.. I dunno. GOOD? XD I think it's cuz i have the feeling you're just playing something beautiful and keeping it really easy to listen to and not over the top. How does Synthogy work? you just send thelshter a recorded music file or what input does it take..? x
@XiaoMeiYin hello, thank you for your kind words, i appreciate them a lot. about synthogy ivory, it's a software that has recordings of piano samples. either you connect a midi keyboard to the computer and then you hear it in real time, or, in this case, i sent a recorded midi to TheIshter and he imported it into the software and then rendered the sound. setting up the software seems so complicated, that's why i haven't really delved into it that much so far :)
@Verdegrand sorry for the late reply and thanks for the explanation on synthogy ivory! so it takes a midi file..! It sounds awesome to work with it but being a noob i would probably not hear difference between a direct digital piano recording or ivory rendered samples.. ^^;;; this recording sounds so crisp clear though :3 (and the tons of reverb doesn't make it sound 'blurry' like reverb usually does..) x
