  • someone should tell that coach to go fuck himself.

  • Man this video makes me want to find a pv club somewhere again

  • I just broke my first pole this week :D

  • just go to 0:26

  • @coffeecup212121 I pushed low with my left arm instead of up putting a lot of pressue in the middle of the pole. It was a newish pole but my technique made it snap

  • DOUG THAT WAS AWESOME!

  • i think that this was a mean shock but one question are you doing this sport today after the accident or did you stop doing it?

  • @Shypo15 Yes, still compete; jump much higher

  • @dougomania wow... Hat down for that! but was scary shit!

  • dam, I hate breaking m pole

  • well atleast it didn't rip ur balls

  • did he died?

  • This is what happened to my penis when I was doing your mom...

  • L0LZ

  • What other injury?

  • why were you so beat up I understand the back but why were your fingers' all messed up?

  • @jeshaw3242 when it breaks the pole vibrates so hard it messes up your hands bad. its weird

  • @jeshaw3242 Pole snapped in three spots and "whipped" me in three different spots. Including going around my hand and my arm

  • Pole vaulting is kinda on my bucket list next to ice hockey! :D

  • like this may never happen -.-*

  • I've always wanted to see someone break their pole in person.... however I just had to be the person to do it :P I wasn't as badly injured as this guy though; just bruised my hamstring and shoulder.

  • haha, iz tht real???

  • dammit, doug...

  • wait.... WHAT WAS THE OTHER INJURIE?!?!?

  • @clngogo OH...nothing I hat hurt my foot hurdling a week before, it was very swollen too, not a big deal though

  • hey, on the upside you've got really great form. its my first year of vaulting, and i wish i had form like you haha.

  • @ryaNVANdyke18 Thanks, but after many years of vaulting after this. I only had alright form. My left arm is pressing too far forward which give that low bend. That bend broke the pole.

  • I broke my first pole today.:( I got a big oh mark on my arm.haha will it scar up?

  • why do you say that?

  • @dougomania Oh, sorry! I didn't realize it was a video about you otherwise I wouldn't have said that. Sometimes when I'm stressed I come onto youtube to "troll" but I don't actually mean the crap that I say. In all reality, you're quite hot ;-)

  • @dougomania meh. hes just a typical troll

  • @MissLalaloo

That's a stupid thing to say

  • @MissLalaloo Too bad people like you are being born.

  • @MissLalaloo hahaahahaah

  • @MissLalaloo,ur a meanie. could u do any better?

  • lol pwnd

  • well doug ... is it funny now?

  • @technoholic562

    yes it is

  • U killed thay pol

  • i've been watching a lot of these videos after my friend broke his pole...

    im kinda scared

  • @ognahtanoj Don't be, the chance are small that this will happen and if it does usually isn't as bad as this was

  • @dougomania i had broke my pole but i was not as high as you i was at least 4 ft high and the way it broke it threw me on the mat thx god plus i had no injures just a sore leg after it recoiled shaded off i was happy to break my 1 pole but up set cuz tht was the only pole tht i used it was a 135 ithink R.I.P u b missed.

  • I just broke my first pole yeasterday

    Didn't hurt a bit llol

    I vaulted again right after

  • thats the usual case, i was not so lucky

  • holy fuck

  • this just happened to me today, hurts so god damn much

  • Yea it was a fracture in the pole otherwise it would have broken in 3 if it was from pressure prolly droped it and it got a fracture or a combination of pressure (obviously) and a fracture but good observation VV

  • lmao theres a crack in your pole thats why it broke

  • You make it look so easy :0

  • This is what happens when men play with poles.

  • Isn't pole vautling the sport with the greatest number of deadly injuries per 1000 participants?

Glad to see he didn't hurt himself badly.

  • who knows who caresits the crazy fun 2 do

  • hahahahaha damm that sucks! but c'mon dude like your coach said why would you use a soft pole like that? ... that would've sucked even worst if the pole you broke was your actual jumping pole!

  • I rock climb, mountain bike, speedboard and freestyle downhill ski; but in high school I could never get into pole vaulting. It scared the shit out of me.

  • @FuckTheCHP i was scared at first but after 12 feet its funnn

  • That was crazy.

But to give you credit, you are an awesome pole vaulter.

How high were you aiming for?

    The most I got was 7ft. 6in.

    I know, I'm an amature =)

  • @imaxcrunner2013 Thanks, aiming for 5.30+ at 5.15

  • Comment removed

  • yeah soo many vaulters push out instead of opening up which will give you a higher bend and make it less likely for the pole to break

  • thats what happens when you vault on lighter poles...

  • you can break the pole if u hold it high enough, but it's illegal to use a pole under ur weight in competition

  • not in collge

  • @hawthornechemical That rule is only in the USA. I don't like it. Causes more danger then it mends. I'm in Canada that rule does exist here

  • @dantheman513 No, it shouldn't happend with proper technique, you can't learn pole vault with out jumping on lighter poles. If your not moving it, your not really working on anything. The point of this practice was to practice moving the pole and flying off the end. Instead what i did was push with the left arm which makes the bend lower and prone to a break. It was my technique not the pole

  • holy shit that was insane.

  • hahaha if that guy in the red jacket was your coach he seemed more annoyed than anything lol

  • wow. I would have seen that coming even if the video wasnt titled the way it was. He was using a ridiculess amount of bend on some of those.

  • wow, this looks pretty intense.

think it was at the u of t? looked familiar.haha . I train at the ac and see paul vaulters almost everyday.

  • Yes thats exactly where it was

  • I saw you at the canadian T&F championship! nice work!

  • thanks it was alright, not great weather though

  • @running4545 your right and i'm still there

  • damn that hurts like how bad did it hurt u like y did u need rehab

  • i think he meant recovering

  • I needed to recover or rehab, because i pulled the muscles in my top arm shoulder, still hurts to this day.

  • @dougomania

    still hurt?

  • @Accountgm a little, was going to go for surgery because of it, but pulled out at the last moment because it was feeling a lot better. Its been 5 years now. Still feel it a little (I have a slap tear because of it)

  • I the superficial bruising wasn't too bad, but I pulled muscles in my right shoulder, till hurts today

  • Comment removed

  • Is it just me or does the russian guy sound a little like Borat??

  • haha he said u don't have to be a tank lol

  • just sat on it....

  • I've got a question.

    how can a pole break?

  • like anything, too much pressure, it beaks.

  • Ok, thanks

  • to much tension on the pole. his forward velocity was stoped at the mid section of the jump. he pulled back to hard and earliy thus causing his pole to break tension. jump earliy bad idea.

  • or if there is a crack or a dent it make the chance higher...

  • Crap tuff kid

  • Is your coach russian? Lol, it makes sense ^^

  • Yes he is Russian

  • Nice swing but you need to work on that takeoff. You swing right off the ground without actually jumping, you could gain a lot of height just by working that (it seems just from this video), plus you wouldn't break poles.

  • lol, thanks for the advice, but this was along time ago, almost 5 years, and is still the only pole I have ever broken. My vaulting technique has changed since then

  • Yeah man. Wasnt being negative, just trying to help. I think the PV community is really awesome in that respect, very tight. What kind of heights you putting up then/now?

That was a gnarly smack though.

  • 5.10 is my best thus far hope to get to 5.30

  • @jakeo102 thanks, i have fixed that problem now. Never broke another pole jumping well over 5m

  • You're in agony and your coach is telling you what you should've done instead, harsh guy!

  • What's the other injury?

  • whats are the poles made of they bend like really far

  • fiber glass, some have carbon woven through them also

  • usally 300-500 but once you get in to high level stuff its expensive

  • OOOOWCH

  • i feel sorry for the pole, i mean like this dude is one piece, but the pole just got a halfbrother lol

  • is that you couch talking in an italian accent lmao? omg he's hilarious!!! and is that his normal accent or was he trying to be funny?

  • Haha, That's no where near Italian. Russian.

  • what was the other injury he mentioned at the end? lol

  • holly shit

  • damn your arm got raped hahahaha.

  • is the pole okay.. who cares about him

  • you killed the pole lol

  • goddamn

  • OUCH! damn...but thats intense!

  • damn...damn

  • lolz the guy b4 him suked....

  • ouch

  • 10 weeks of rehab?

You don't sound like a tank....

  • I pulled a few muscles in my right sholder for some reason, couldn't even lift my right arm more then 10 degrees, good thing is i didn't need surgery

  • but it looks like you're moving your right arm fine...

  • Well yes fine for everyday life but not for pole vaulting as the right arm needs to to be stretched behind your head but i couldn' lift it up with a straight arm to my ear, with the arm fully bent it was a little easier to use , but vaulting needs a straight arm

  • lol tank

  • ouch, all three of my coaches would have flipped shit on me for that. Our schools really small and our budget is a problem so I probably would not vault for a while.

  • Oh ffs, that was painful watching! Poor pole!

  • i know where this is and correct me if im wrong but was this in UFT? it looks familiar.

  • Yes, and almost everyone in that video still trains there, including myself

  • oh thats happening me once a before :P //Top 1 in sweden

  • battle scars!

  • Damn. I am thankful that I never snapped my pole.

  • DtotheM321, he is right on being upset, a pole is not a cheap thing to buy... breaking one is a real problem, the poles aren't all the same, NOOB. If you did pole vault, like me and Doug, maybe you'd understand the coach's reaction -.-'

  • damn that coach is an ass hole. lol he's getting all upset cause he lost 1 pole.

  • that coach is upset for 2 reasons:

*Poles are really EXPENSIVE and personal, and

    *his athlete is injured!!!...

  • school gym, i think he doesnt give a shit about his athletes :P

  • You are a mess after ridding that pole go clean yourself up

  • waaah waaah boo hoo....grows some balls

  • lOL owchers man ! damm that must just killed fer a good week at least ^_^

  • ouch ! hope this doesnt put me off pole vault?!

  • That was sick! is that the only time u ever broke a pole? it sucks huh?? i broke a UCS 14'6 150 lb but i was like already 14 feet up!

  • oh man they're strong, but that pole was way too soft for him. and it only bent in the middle it looked like, what type of pole is that?

  • its a carbon 15 foot 180

  • how did u break ur pole?????arent they supposed to be uber strong?

  • lol sore eh?

  • its tough to get back on the horse. One day at a meet i broke a pole and then i had to use a tree trunk to vault on. The next day at practice i got whipped on the underside of the head of my wang and it literally turned black...it was awful i had a horrible season after that

  • WOW THAT HAD TO STING! that pole was movin'

  • i guess his shatter?> i broke one yesterday didn;t get ne cuts but i pulled my enitre back muscle

  • ouch

  • dam dude, lol this is y i cant vault to full potiential.

  • cmon now. were pole vaulters, thats y we laugh when we get hurt. we're feerless. thats the name my coach gave me.

  • hahah i pole vault and i hope i never do that

  • When I broke my first pole it was not NEARLY as bad as that, I had a little bit of scrapes but not 10 weeks of rehab Hashanah and the Russian sounding guy was a jackass about it...

  • geez... there was a lot more to vaulting than I thought. But, I suppose that goes for any Olympic sport: like swimming

  • ver ver nice...props to you, how long before you got back vaultin?

  • Ouch. Very sorry this happened to you. Pole vaulting rulez.
