  • The shaky camera actually adds to the video, rather than detracting, in my opinion.

  • though i love deer tick and i love youth group, its interesting how both this song, and piece of wood are nearly the same...

  • I love videos like this!!

  • Where was this video shot?

  • Awesome video, really. Simplistic yet strangely sophisticated. Wish you could do one of these for my band too.

  • This is beautiful man. Looks like home.

  • @hytrfd1 commas and grammar are a beautiful thing.

  • This is wonderful. Thank you!

  • best description ever.

  • Oh yeah.. that lightbowl right?

  • Where were the shakes?

  • Have you people noticed hwo there are no dislikes... its that good!! And the people who search deer tick up are the ones who love them!

  • the shakiness makes it better

  • i think it looks better "shaky"

  • The video is AMAZING.!!! pure aesthetics of the image, good job

  • im diggin your scenery is this clip. much props for putting together a nice video with a great tune to go along with it

  • like this if you thought it says "hills at my feet" instead of "halos at my feet"

  • Some really nice footage there. A great vibe. And yes, tripod would have been a nice touch! But still great. :)

  • Smokin Good Pig Out - love it!

    Great video.

    Great song.

  • This song speaks so very well for all the emotions you end up feeling at the end of a relationship. It may better to have love and lost, than never to have loved at all. But i say fuck that. 'Tis better to sing and dance than to crumble and collapse. Thanks

  • so good

  • Although, I enjoy some of Deer Tick's music...

I can't help but compare them to Bob Dylan because, I mean come on, that is definitely who they are influenced by.

And with the comparison there: Bob Dylan > Deer Tick. Forever. And. Ever.

    THE END.

  • Excellent concept. Shoot it again and make it better!

  • I love that this video is getting so many views!

  • Just has to end when the dancing part comes on! shitt.....

  • great song

  • hahaha i like the description :)

  • i should have been an angel but im to dumb to speak?

    i looove it

  • i love this song its so amazing and deep. deer tick is one of the few bands you dont kow if you want to share with the world or keep all to yourself. i like this video it feels to me to fit the song vary well.

  • This reminds me of Bon Iver.

  • This song is cathartic. It's the kind of music I wish I could write when I made a failed attempt at being a musician back in my younger days (not to worry, I've other talents where I could express my creativity).

I imagine that if a more mainstream artist were to make a song like this, it would be hailed as a deeply moving work of genius.

  • where do you live?

  • This video makes no sense...

  • i love shaky film. so much character

  • 8 people can't understand the lyrics

  • 0:33 squid billies?

  • @DawnpatrolTrev I bet the person who lives there drives a truck boat truck....

  • ...and as she gets nearer, my visions get clear. I'm feeling weak but I will hold her dear.... HOW BOUT THEM APPLES KANYE

  • The 8 people who disliked this are ashamed.

  • the south is disgusting

  • @Onuund lovely aint it

  • kinda sounds like hank III, in a crazy kinda way

  • I love your video. Is it southwest Arkansas? Just a guess. Shakiness not a problem.

  • good music from Rhode Isalnd? damn, now we have something to brag about :P

  • this is the perfect video

  • dose any one think this is country

  • @BugsTheBunnie I think it's more along the lines of folk, but that's just opinion.

  • You sir, live in a dilapidated town.

  • @Evildog6543 I actually like it

  • was this shot near Tallahassee, FL ?

  • This is the greatest song ever written

  • Thumbs up if six people who didn't thumbs thumbs up for thumbs in a video thumbs.

  • Deer Tick rocked Bonnaroo this past week. An awesome show and the crowd was loud.

  • This is all mostly Florida ain't it?

  • beautiful places for a beautiful song

  • I like the shakiness...

  • This song was enough to get me downloading all their music before knowing what the rest sounds like.

  • I am liking this.:)

  • Whyyyy can't this song be longer!? D:

  • @MisterFunnyManRocco i cannot agree more! @capocalciatore

  • wheres this filmed?

  • honestly dont think there could be a better vidio for this

  • i think the shaky makes it more real. i like it

  • it is not shaky!

  • Pff.. so beautiful..

  • justin bieber have 6 accounts on youtube

  • @SirPerovic Shut up. Don't bring that shit here. Don't spoil it.

  • "Pretend it's not shaky" hahah. I love the video and the song. :)

  • How am I just discovering this band now??? It's like going your whole life without eating a peach, and then one day, you pick one off the tree and bite into it. And you say to yourself, "Damn it! All that time I wasted on apples! I could have been eating peaches!" That's how I feel right now.

  • @lupischuckle All Fruits be Delicious Friend!

  • @lupischuckle Butbutbut...I prefer apples...fruit-wise, at least.

And these guys are friggin' awesome live! And also, I think they were extremely drunk, but that's OK.

  • @lupischuckle terrible analogy, peaches are obviously inferior to apples

  • @lupischuckle man have you tried mangos? cause I think you might be in for a treat

  • @lupischuckle I'm allergic to peaches

  • dude hell ya American folk music is back!!!

  • Six people wish Osama Bin Laden was still alive

  • Hamaknockers is the best name for a bbq place. :)

  • I actually think the shakiness fits the feel of the song really well. kudos to you for a job well done :)

  • The last CD I bought was in 2005. I'm actually going to go buy yours.

Now, release more, don't make me regret it. I'll be super irritated.

  • putting War Elephant to a good band. Love it!

  • Great job with the video. It fits this song so well!

  • Great Video! I wonder how many albums you've helped them sell with this one. Nice work and forget about the tri-pod...the slight shake gives your video a human element. You should be proud.

  • i wish this song was longer

  • @GaryKist Its a cheat! I adore this song so much and just as it gets going they finish!

But I guess thats what keeps us coming back. War Elephant is genius.

  • just great!!

  • a camera stand would be a worthwhile purchase

  • @jammyd33 The shaky camera shots actually fit the style of song. How generic would the video be if not hand shot? A tripod would make this video too easy and not very original.

  • I agree, this song should go on for hours. These people have so much talent.

  • this song is not nearly long enough..

  • I hope you got yourself a tripod and kept making films. This is great. The shot with the branches waving is wonderful. My favorite is the cut with the rocking chairs: it feels like they are singing the chorus or that the memory/ghost of people who sat there before is singing. Beautiful. The shot after with the mailboxes is really anticlimactic though. Also, there are very few close ups with exception of the swinging lamp (great):needs some variation there. I think I would love to know you.

  • this reminds me of a documentary on the South searching for the wrong-eyed jesus. nice job

  • hahahaha I keep pretending it's not shaky but it just keeps being shaky.

  • If people weren't so absorbed in Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber, they would see bands like Lissie and Deer Tick.

  • @TOTALLYCOOLBELIKEME3

why could you possible need a number in your name..?

  • @VinceGuitarr Idk 3 is my favorite number lol!

  • this is a really great song, their best in my opinion

  • what town is this?

  • What town is this?

  • see them at canadian music week march 9 to 13, 2011 in toronto, ontario, canada.

  • one of a kind.

  • I didn't realize I knew where this was until 0:44

    "HEY, I'VE BEEN THERE"

  • i knew this was florida. i live in new port richey and we still have plenty places look like this. deertick!

  • This is amazing, where was this recorded at?

  • @anemz

    Crawfordville, FL

  • Comment removed

  • Well it still looks better than the suburbs and stripmalls.

  • reminds me of the film 'Winter's Bone'!

  • Great song but it needs to be longer in my opinon, at the end anyway

  • Great video mate, runs so well with the track good stuff.

The new album is very cool too.

  • I liked your footage a lot, i hope you dont mind i have played with the colors. If you want i can retire the video. Let me now

  • cool band, first time hearing this - they kind of remind me of a newer Violent Femmes in a way...

  • LOVE!!!!

  • central florida?

  • thats a pretty shitty town

  • I feel like I'm in a different world. lol I like this music. Well, at least these guys. They sound...hmm...authentic? I can really relate to it. Good day folks.

  • Really loved your video. Genius last shot with pick up pulling in. Ive never been to a small American town like that but I would love to. It might not be beautiful but its different, quirky and YOURS!

  • @Green2456 I don't know for sure, but it's possible it's Liz Isenberg, Deer Tick has done compilations with her before. Check out the song Friday XIII to see if you agree, she has more of a part in that one.

  • @Green2456 I dunno but I met her and she is just as cool as Ian, John, Chris, and of course Dennis :)

  • @Green2456 hope your not serious lol

  • I loved your video. It captured home town americana very well and fit with the homespun nature of the sound of Deertick. If they don't have an official music video for this song, they should buy yours and make it so. Good work.

  • you made a video. i watched it.

  • Comment removed

  • This is a very special band.

  • I guess this kind of music is called "americana"? I like it =D Does anybody have more songs that are a bit similar to this one?

  • @JXTTZOU everything with deer tick?

  • Good songs leave you wanting more. Your video is great, you filmed a lot of squalor, but in a way it's all very beautiful because it's so very much a part of Americana

  • @GUITARJEREMY1 Yours and mine both friend, rural Illinoisan here. And while it's beautiful in the way it's a part of us, I can't say I would refuse a little economic development. lol

  • Comment removed

  • @GUITARJEREMY1 Yeah it's disgusting what the heavy industry has done to the rivers and lakes in this country. We need cleanup really badly. Mercury and lead in the fish!

  • 4 ppl hit the wrong button

  • If only it lasted longer than 2:16 oh well good things never last.

  • this song ends far too abruptly

  • Shake away... Shake away.... Awesome vid!

  • what a cryin shame, what we became

  • @KatyM423 I always find myself singing that line lol simple but great

  • what has inspired you to make such a creative video. it cant be just the song.

  • i like this song as well as your good effort!

  • great vid man, I just heard deer tick for the first time tonite and ended up here. nice work

  • i love it shaky! and i love deer tick. you win.

  • i like it. where did you film it?

  • I think this has to be one of the best music videos I've seen that isn't the official video for any given song. Actually, I'd say it's better than a lot of official videos I've seen. Super great job!

I saw Deer Tick live a few weeks ago, and it was so amazing. Before the show I was eating dinner a place a few doors down from the venue and Deer Tick and some of their friends came and ate dinner there too. It was so stellar!

  • this song ends to early!

  • lol you could have just taken a bunch of pictures ... but still i like it

  • good job.

  • Love this song and love your shaky video. :)

  • The Shakines actually adds to the song, I feel. It gives it a more personal effect on the music. Accentuates it, even.

By the by... I wonder how many times that guys' phone number has been called just because of this video?

  • great video...great song!

  • this is the most amazing video ive seen. that includes all videos professional and ametuer. its true to what the song is about.

    props to you!

  • More speifically Crawfordville, just go down Woodville Hwy, through Wakulla. Love the rusted trucks. I grew up in Woodville, nice to see this stuff!

  • Why didn't you just take pictures....?

  • how are there like 20 people who say this is their hometown? some coincidence.

  • Comment removed

  • this town is beautiful. or at the very least as beautiful as this song. how ignorant to look down upon simplicity. whether broken or prosperous - it exists. and that's just fine

  • I love this song

  • monster truck on the back of a truck that looks like a smaller version of it=win

  • What the hell is wrong with you? This is the trashiest music video. what the fuck does it mean?

  • @tomersrl1 criticism vs. creation. Don't worry about it.

  • wow thats a sad little town good video thank you, the songs awesome too

  • @kmaaka reminds me of bon temps :)
