  • sometimes i want to hit him with a shovel in the head.in him series sci fi science he said one thing then in a nother episode he said something againts that...

  • chuck norris already broke graphine

  • OMG Albert Einsteins brother O.o

  • This guy sounds such a butthole..

  • @UTubeisSHIT523441 are you one of those who cant read more then one book?

  • he forgot "adamantium" . how can anyone forget adamantium, this dude should go to jail ??

  • the pencil would break before you get the chance to test it haha ahhhh.....

  • tldw but pretty sure the hardest metal is the muramasa blade in which daken uses to fight his father wolverine due to it being able to disable superhuman regenerative powers

  • ahh, Michio ruined my Nano fantasy

  • i hope im dead before this stuff breaks through. I don't want to be 90 and watch the world give perfect health, beauty, and extended youth to the generation right after me.

  • The funny thing is that my name is Matthew and at the start i got creeped out

  • @MattyboyOMG LOL me too

  • Maximum... armor

  • space elevators already exits

  • you for got dimondium

  • graphene, did you let a WoW nerd name it or something?

  • boring!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • chuck norris need to use a graphene condom or the woman would explode

  • I love his enthuaism, but nano techology, and where it leads may be thwarted by real problems like oil depletion, probable war with Iran, rise of new superbugs because of anitbiotics/factory farming, etc in a world which is as dumb as the average Human was 500 years ago.

  • @amemy1 Don't worry we are the new Galileos, Newtons and Koperniks.

  • ...i was born in the wrong era...maybe in my next life? oh crap i forgot i am an Atheist!!!...

  • @SteveSabbai What does this comment have to do with anything?...

  • You mean unobtanium is just a lie?!

  • @DarkSifu In Avatar unobtanium was not strong, it was a superconductor. Although in science unobtanium is commonly used to describe a metal that would make something work, but doesn't exist. For example, We could build a ship out of unobtanium so it could fly inside of the sun or a platform made of unobtanium would allow you to build a gravity defying hover board.

  • asian bill maher... hmm

  • I can't believe no one knows the story about the diamond wall and the diamond car..

  • Well yea, the pencil will break, Duh.

  • If it can happen in Metal Gear Solid, it's only a matter of time...

  • Many decades isn't a long time. O.O

  • How can you prove that contradiction nonsense?

  • Actually my boner is the hardest material known to man.

  • Let's test the strength of graphene against the mighty Z-sword! GOHAN GET READY

  • What about our white blood cells wouldn't they fight the foreign material in our body, causing is to become ill

  • ..........never question the great Chuck Norris cuz he can break graphene by just holding it

  • my names matthew?

  • I'm sorry sir, but I believe you got that wrong.

The strongest material known to man is Chuck Norris' beard

  • @fredsarw No the strongest material is Bruce Lee's fist which will go against Chuck Norris' face and smash it up so hard that the face looks like my room

  • @StarTrekFanEst LOL :-)

  • @fredsarw unfunny meme from over 1000 years ago please kill yourself

  • Honey Badger doesnt give a shit

  • whad about diamond?

  • graphene tanks anybody ?

  • I would like to see someone balance a elephant on a pencil?

  • HONEY BADGER can break graphene ....

  • @SimilkameenSlayer Well honey badger don't care. He will break graphene whenever he wants.

  • *breaks a pencil*

    muhahha :{D

i must be the strongest person known to man

  • @saykarpaudel Or the dumbest idiot known to man

  • @saykarpaudel thats graphite not graphene

  • We need more Diamondium!

  • So.. Graphene could give you body armor completely convential weapon proof... that's light and flexible, of course your bones would break, hence you need some ceramic... but yes.

  • I saw Michio Kaku a few weeks ago! He is so awesome!

  • I'm pretty sure... The pencil would break though. :D

  • :(

  • it cant blend an iron bar

  • ummmmm, isnt diamond the strongest material?

  • @EHerobrineE Lol, played too much minecraft? Open your eyes buddy. -.-

  • @EHerobrineE DIAMOND IS MADE OF CARBON

  • @EHerobrineE no...

  • Can I have a nanosuit made entierly of Graphene? Will pay 2 dollars.

  • They should use that stuff for condoms, it would save the human population.

  • But will it blend?

  • sometimes it sucks to be alive at this era of mankind. you can see all the cool shit we might/probly make one day, and yet. we'll never see it happen ourselves

  • @floridasux321 Yeah, man. I agree. Those future people get to see all the cool stuff, like elephants on pencils. I'm never ever going to get to see an elephant on a pencil, am I? (sniff, whimper).

  • But will it blend?

  • but wouldnt the elephant break?

  • he has so high iq that his hair turned gray :P

  • Thank god.

  • now I know what I need to test the hardness of a material scientifically: a pencil and an elephant

  • Be that as it may, i was actually wondering that if we ever could make a shield-type version of that material would the military ever use it?

  • @awesome264 If it can be produced in the required size the military most probably will use it. However, every time a new form of defend yourself arise, people start looking for a way of surpasing that defense, also, maybe a very resistant material will be able to shield you against kinetic based weapons (if the kinetic energy is not to great) but maybe it won't protect you against weapons who relly in things other that pure kinetic energy.

  • Damn i like this man. He's very interesting

  • monofilament line made of such stuff would cut through anything. although how how you would hold it... who knows?

  • .. Lonsdaleite is the strongest material known to man. 58 % harder than diamond.

  • graphene pickaxe anybody?

  • @edallinxtrm Found under bedrock yeah.

  • @edallinxtrm someone should definitely put that in minecraft.

  • I would love to see this guy and Donnie Yen in an asian remake of back to the future XD

  • The war industry is going to use it for their tanks and armored bulletproof vests. And that way we will destroy ourself and goodbye dreams for nano robots.

  • @SMGJohn hippy

  • what about gluon

  • japanese Bill Maher

  • I don't quite get the pencil example, a diagram would be useful

  • agglomerated nanorods are the hardest material known to man

  • He and Ray Kurzweil disagree, I hope Kaku is wrong... I don't want to die before the age of nanobots

  • @WaysToGetTaller, all those things exist too.

  • There is nothing in the laws of physics to prevent singularity, AI and anti-aging, too.

  • i used to break this material, but then i took an arrow in the knee

  • I just wish I could live long enough to see these things become a reality.

  • CRYSIS NANOSUIT !!

  • Diamond is the hardest metal known to man.

  • @cosmicus4life diamond isn't a metal?

  • @cosmicus4life Diamond is the hardest known naturally occurring material. Graphene is not naturally occurring. :)

  • @cosmicus4life If diamond was a metal you might be right, idiot.

  • @cosmicus4life graphene, graphite, and diamonds are all made out of carbon atoms, it all depends on how the atoms are arranged

  • @cosmicus4life Diamond is the hardest naturally occurring material known to man.

Hard does not necessarily mean strong, there's a lot more to strength than hardness.

Furthermore graphene is not naturally occurring and a diamond is not a metal.

  • This is false ! Adamantium is the strongest material !! ive seen it in a documentary about extraordinary people

  • @Raafje84 i believe that was xmen origins -_-

  • Michio Kaku vs Sheldon Cooper AKA Sheldor of Azeroth would be EPIC.

  • how the pencil won't break??

  • @malganus4

The hypothetical idea is that the pencil is unbreakable

The Pascal (N/m^2) value increases significantly when the area of effect

is minimized to the area of, for example, the end of a pencil

  • uses for nanobots in theory: used to kill tourers, repair organs, keep us over all in good health. First actual use for nanobots by society: Make and keep my dick harder longer! you know thats whats gonna happen.

  • megamen biometal ftw :O

  • id be alive in decades so...Yay super human?

  • No need for nanobots, I'll just become an advanced AI

  • Oh you sooo funny

  • Carl Sagan lives

    And he's asian

  • @zoebiflap No, false, don't say stupid things like that. Sagan was much more ethical and philosophical.

  • @CntthnkO15 Took the words right out of my mouth lol

  • @zoebiflap I submit to you sir, that Neil Tyson deGrasse is, in fact, the Carl Sagan of the modern era.

  • @metalfishead I quite like Michio Kaku, but I think NDT has him beat in terms of emotional enthusiasm for a scientific understanding of existence, making him indeed more Sagan-like.

  • His hair looks similar to a ghost

  • Whey wasn t i born over 150 years from now :-(

  • How does one place an elephant on a pencil?

  • @shelldon12 he obviously means the weight that equals that of an elephant acting on an object with a piercing force similar to that of the writing end of a pencil.

  • Why is nothing he talks about happening until many decades from now?? GAAAHHH!!!

  • @DeadlyThrashViking

    Proof of concept exists today.

  • Science: develop Adamantium. Adamantium will kick Graphene's butt.

  • he is the love child of mr miaggi from karate kid and albert einstein

  • @KOMBAT18uk wow so true

  • @KOMBAT18uk how can 2 men have a baby

  • @highlanderdurp Science

  • I prefer this Asian Bill Maher to the American one.

  • Japan is building a staircase to space. Carbon Nano-tubes is what allows that to happen

  • @adeelnkhan It's an elevator and it will take a week to travel up to the top... Staircase would take forever.

  • From a technical perspective, what did he mean by strong? Durable? Can hold the most weights? Hardest?

  • It looks like I need to start up the Delorean.

  • I hope to live long enough to see a brilliant future where nano robotics and forced bio engineered evolution become mainstream.

  • Comment removed

  • allways thought the only way to the moon for the common man was a bamboo ladder or well must get some a this stuff for a moonship

  • he's wrong... The toughest material in the world is my mother in law... to bad mister kaku :(

  • Ah, but can science produce a method for balancing an elephant upon a pencil, or a pencil sturdy enough to support an elephant? Moreover, can science produce an elephant amiable enough to permit such an invasive experiment to be performed?

  • i cannot imagine what good religion has brought that can exclusively be called to have happened because of religion. communal belonging? shared hobbies can bring that about. morality? na, that shit was already common before moses brought down the commandments. people didnt rape and steal and kill, only to realize 2000 years ago (given their 250,000 years as homo sapiens, and we've had similar ancestors before that) that doing such things was bad. WAKE UP, there is no good from the bible. at all.

  • maximum waiting

  • i have no idea what your saying. thanks for nothing. XD

  • Gordon Freeman is my favorite theoretical physicist...

  • its like watching the big bang theory...

  • The future: Deus Ex

  • god damn it,who was the asshole that started one of those retarded religious arguments? fucking troll

  • "Can't create a nanobot that is large"... well, that wouldn't be so nano, would it? haha!

  • Why the fuck are people arguing about religion here? Fuck's sake, this is about carbon nanotubes and nanotechnology, stop bringing your unrelated bullshit in here.

  • anyone who likes this should watch minutephysics

  • and what would prevent the nano bots from turning me into a freak. i'm not sure if i want to be the incredible hulk.

  • There should be a picture of my Dick

  • Hey look its Asian Bill Maher.

  • I only watched this cuz somebody said something about super saiyans

  • if nanobots change us we can turn into super saiyans.... can't wait for the future

  • but will the pencil break that is the true question

  • @MrFreemaan Physicists* ? Otherwise, I was not aware that physics were countable.

  • I came here from Scishow, and expected the characteristic clip-to-clip abrupt transition we all know and love as internet viewers. It was almost surprising, and sort of funny, to see otherwise.

Which means Kaku did a great job of one-shotting this recording without any pauses.

Unrelatedly, Physics of the Impossible is a great book.

  • @AexisRai Physics in general are awesome.

  • It would be awesome to have someone like him to answer my curiosity everyday, and know that the answer is not just wild guesses.

  • Umm... I think this video Is NOT about gods and religions but about Graphene and how strong it is, so why don't we take this conversation elsewhere.

  • @govcommunications what has proven god exists so far nothing theres no proof religion is bs if a god existed then so be it but if that god existed he would never want anyone to cuss others out just because they dont believe in him you retard if u really believe in god then stop cussing others out because of their beliefs youll be sent to hell if god really existed bro

  • Man this stuff sounds like its straight out of 40k

  • why are you argueing about religion? let people believe what they want

  • HEY ANTI-RELIGIOUS RETARDS: He just got done telling us, that it may be possible to reinvigorate (a.k.a. resurrect) ourselves, with nanotechnology in a few decades!

So if human dumb fucks can do it, why can't a x-billion year old universe do it as well?

There is immortality in the universe, there is an immortal god: Jesus Christ

The next time he comes (soon), he will destroy all the evil greedy pig fucking chimps, that are still running around (pain in the asses) on this amazing planet....

  • what i really would like to know is, where do i get these pencils that support elephant's weight? i coulda used those back when we had pencil wars on the bus

  • Religion sucks. End of argument. I'm not bashing on anyone's beliefs, just -religion- in general.

  • @MrFreemaan You are a fucking dip shit! Put a spoon up your faggot ass, and get yourself a treat....

  • @govcommunications Precisely the response I had expected from someone. Lemme guess, you're somewhere in the Central/South-Central U.S, right? Religion sucks. As a pastor once told me as he walked down the street: "Religion was the worst thing to happen to Christianity."

  • @MrFreemaan Yeah I dont like Religion Either Religious people killed Jesus

  • @MrFreemaan it does until you are dying

  • @jaysoncainepizzatime Threats of hell... so original...

  • @IlluminatReptilian way to make an assumption about my personality and tolerance for others with different views than i have. i called you the A word because of your intolerance for religion. your view of religion is extreme and ignorant. other athiest don't offend me like you do. that being said, im sorry for calling you the A word; i was just mad at the comment.

  • For a second, I thought he was Steve Jobs.

  • @bigthink Wouldn't our own bodies reject them though, as we reject a virus and such?

  • @havenasp I feel that these nanobots would fall under same circumstances as knee and hip replacements. Where they will coexist within our body, but not actually bond to it

  • @havenasp Nano-tech has the potential to be so small that u could put the markers on 'em so ur bodies would recognize them as part of us, but we're nowhere close to that today.
