So true! I rent my books or sell them online now. Chegg.com is great (you've probably seen the chegg adsters like the one below offering you discounts) about 85% of the time. Beware, though: coupons usually don't work, and if your book ends up lost in the mail or late the customer service is AWFUL.
I always buy/sell online. So much cheaper than the bookstore and I get more money back. Also means I don't have to worry about them not buying my books because they either have a new edition or they've already met their quota of used books for the next semester. >_>
no, but it's about the only way to reclaim some of the money lost buying overpriced books you'll never read again. so a lot of people still do it.
though, tbh, i usually just hand them the books, zone out while they're checking the prices, and take what they give me. no god arguing (as matt demonstrates ^^: )
Beacuse they're expensive. I bought mine at half price online. Plus, they won't always buy your books back. I bought four books during summer term and they wouldn't take any of them.
This is exactly how campus bookstores can rip students off when selling back textbooks.
Heard about affordtextbooks dotcom the source for cheapest book ? check it out today !

Better World Books is good for customer service and the prices are reasonable. ^^ The bookstore, unfortunately, is evil.

CHECK OUT CHEGG.COM YOUR TEXTBOOK HOOKUP
Use coupon code CC115065 to save between 5-15% on your order and when you sell books to chegg.com get an extra $5.
Chegg has saved me over $600 in two semesters alone.

This would be even funnier if it wasn't really what it feels like to try and sell your books back sometimes.

I just sold my books back yesterday, and that is totally how I feel. Ah, university bookstore, why do you hate me?

If you feel that way, why did you sell them? Do they require you to sell them back?

I've been there - it's a really nice store. Why do you hate it?
