@PikolUploader well myst V was in 3d, and it didn't look as good, because once you go 3d you loose the photo realism

why would you never play an adventure game? there are quite a few of them that are really great, myst, grim fandango, monkey island, the non 3d leisure suit Larry games, day of the tentacle, etc etc

I would only ever play this game for the artwork/graphics, if I REALLY had to play it. I've never played Myst, and I probably never will, because it's an adventure game.

But I must say, out of all the game i've ever seen, these games have some weird graphics.... Really weird.

@Ve It's an adventure, but only in the sense of "exploring" and solving puzzles. It's essentially a logic game. The real kicker is that from floara to fauna to machine and enviroment, everything is in harmony with real science. Even the dream world could be explained.

But yea, it's worth playing just for the graphics. All the MYST games except V have actors spotted into the picture green screen style. MYST 1 2 & 3 have had the best graphics of their time. Just...don't play with subtitles. o_0

@gakiyarou What? Not even. You even said it yourself in the video, 3d vs prerendered. Sadly prerendered went out of style even though it looks a lot better. People wanted direct control over their character, or at least the sense of it. That's what they were thinking at least, for me I wish some very well done prerendered adventure games would come out from time to time. :(

@TehRPC To expand on my comment, I haven't played Myst V but I assumed you had greater control over your character. If it has the same controls as Myst IV I have no idea why they wouldn't have gone with prerendered. :(

@TehRPC ya it was like playing a first person shooter in terms of movement, all real time. Which is great and all but it didn't look nearly as good, and just didn't feel like a myst game.

@TehRPC I thought this game did a wonderful job with the pre-rendered graphics, and It did feel, at least to me, that you were in direct control of your character.

@aetRene becouse stupid as people that want 3D dont know about game development and yes this game look great but remember is 2D not 3D when you change to 3D you have limitation like max polygons and texture and special FX this just need good hi res textures

have you ever played myst before?

its an adventure game-- the genre is primarily pc based-- no fighting or action, you basically just solve logic puzzles. No replay value whatsoever but a lot of fun to play once through.
