  • My family and I are planning on making a trip to Florida soon and we want to rent an SUV and we r considering this, but my main concern is that if its comfortable at all or does it have hard seats

  • i have bought this car a week ago, amazing car!

still waiting for ferrari 458 spider 8 months later :D

    wowww i cant wait

  • I live in Australia & I REALLY HOPE the 2011 Ford Explorer will be released here!

  • Best suv beside the range rover

  • too much way too much thats just gonna cause more wrecks

  • WHAT! IS THAT JAMES MAY?!?!

  • the engine on the 2010-present Ford Explorer

    Engine

    2.0 EcoBoost I4

    3.5 Duratec V6

  • Mazda CX9 has better interior

  • whats with all that electronic junk in the car? touch screens and funky interfaces... dont people do enough other crap in their cars that distracts them from driving?

just give me a few knobs and be done with it

  • @tooclamin i agree completely. this is why i love cars made in the 90s and before that.

  • @tooclamin I agree with you on that; but most customers of today have spoken that they want to have every new technological device available in their car (Ipod hookups, cameras, DVD, sat radio, navigation, vehicle health reports, etc...), and have "ooh and aah" type touch screens, all while talking on their cell phone with their right hand and drinking from the Big Gulp in their left hand, and then maybe look up at the road once in a while too.

  • @drc1981 In many ways it's scary, but Ford is just giving customers what they're demanding to have.

  • its syncrhonic? i drove a hydromatic one here in venezuela it feels strong and confortable at the same time but its hydromatic and whit the destroyed roads here they broke easy... oh well and of course ford should get rid using plastic material in their cars...

  • for fun we went to a ford dealership and drove one... true it felt like a car... but for some reason that made me and dad not like it, but we liked the exterior, just when you get in it, it feels cheap and theres plastic everywhere, it felt weird, like unconfortable, i felt really high up in the rear seats, and we didnt like it, but thats just our opinion, my dad was like hell no i aint giving up the 4 runner for that. made me laugh, but yeah its just felt like a bad mix in the explorer interior

  • It looks pretty nice, but I don't think it's driving out the competition. I haven't even seen one on the road yet.

  • an american magazine interviewing an american car maker. british and aussie accent?

  • Love the British accent - there seems to be a focus on high tech - Sony sound system , led screens and the like ergonomics

Yet if I want a GPS or sound system those can be had third party ( its not as good true as factory installed)

Yet the Explorer I buy is to pull and haul boat trailers and the like - not a high tech wow whiz vehicle to drive to the mall

  • the 2011-present Ford Explorer is assembled in

    Chicago, Illinois

  • Wuuuaaaooo mi papa me var tambien k chido!!!

  • How are you suppose to use that and drive at the same time?

  • I think the only reason they made it a V6 is so you can save up on gas.

  • @gunzkid123 what happened to big V8's and rear wheel drive's? That's easy, Japanese and Korean competition and $3.50 a gallon!

  • Its not being released in New Zealand. Come on Ford, what gives.

  • its a mini van

  • to complicated

  • Id rather have a dodge durango

  • my dad works for ford. he just bought this car. beyond fucking amazing

  • @MauerTwins7 I thought workers got Ford for free?

  • @ConfusedSponge No way. There is no way my dad got a $36,000 car for free. I think they get some sort of discout

  • everybody turn on ccaptions hilarious

  • ESTA BUENO EL CAROO

  • Very gooooooood car

  • I hate the new v6 angine,too slow

  • Unibody- no problem, V6- I can live with that, fwd- EPIC FAIL

  • @ronmann606

    no AWD option?

  • @JeremyFuhenstasser Ya it does have an AWD option. But it has a FWD design meaning a sideways engine, different length half shafts, therefore numb steering, 90 degrees to get to the rear wheels. In other words its a cheap half ass way of doing awd. Heres an awd performance test kinda long and boring but worth a watch watch?v=ooQRxlChvMw

  • sad that they dont make real vehicles and more what ever happen to a big car with rear wheel drive and a big powerful v8 under te hood instead off all these v6 riceburners front wheel drives

  • so its just a soft offraoder now. no locking diffs no wheel articulation no ground clearance. im afraid jeep grand cherokee is much better.

  • BRING BACK A NEW 1ST GENERATION STYLE FORD EXPLORER WITH A NEW 4.0L 24V TiVCT

  • Why can't ford bring the 2006-2010 models back?

  • bring back the v8 explorer or bring back the bronco

  • Is that may on the right seat?

  • @lefabuleuxtonio i think it is

  • Comment removed

  • the people who are saying this car sucks are just mad that they cant afford a 45 thousand dollar vehicle

  • @jw112490 hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha i know, right? i really really really wish this SUV would come down in price, though. :( maybe i will lease one...

  • Just got a limited today fully loaded awesome SUV!

  • so the new explorer looks like the edge.. wow that sux balls.

no wait...they neutered it, so i guess no balls anymore.

  • both sound english, why the left hand drive car?

  • So... why wont the government outlaw these screens in the cars? You cant talk or text while driving but you can look at a giant screen with to many buttons? Thats more dangerous then talking on the phone because at least you can still look at the road. This you cant.

  • @JMxE15 I haven't been inside the new Explorer yet, but I do know that a lot of Ford's Sync and Navigation and other type features in the center console, are not available while actually driving; so that would eliminate any chance of being too distracted by that; the phone calls are handled by Sync, which alerts you of an incoming call, and then you command the call to go through and it's played through the vehicle's speakers; so it is totally hands free and not touching the screen either

  • Why do car makers put electronic switches around cup holders? I don't understand that at all, that is a setup for you to back into the shop, because someone spilled their drinks on the 4WD switch. Poor design.

  • I have my 2000 Limited V8 5.0 and it is a BEAST! The explorer is amazing! It can be used as a sport suv (in my case, I've done modding) or a party car (throw in some subs and a amp!) EXPLORER ALL DAY EVERYDAY!

  • THOSE FORD TOUCHES R JUST A PROBLEM WAITING TO HAPPEN!!!! watta peice of junk the exploder is !! DURANGO OWNS IT IN EVERYWAY!!

  • my 1999 5.0 liter V8 engine ford explorer still kicks ass :)

  • IDK why everyone is putting this SUV down the explorer had to change sometime its modern and into the future, its a beatiful SUV and everything breaks down EVERYTHING! same with everything has normal wear and tear, its a beatiful SUV and can handle everyday life!

  • POS

  • Ok, sorry for misunderstanding fellows!

But honestly I don´t understand why some people critized the Explorer only because it´s a FORD product!

I owned a 1996 Explorer XLT without any troubble.

All carmakers had and will have failures, but this product seems to be a very good starting point. (very efficient and powerfull V6 engine, strong steel unibody, 4WD (not for off road use), very nice design and interior, excellent crash test results, and an affordable price... aren´t this good news?

  • @hernanmunoz Also own a 96 XLT, it is still running, no problems so far :)

  • @hernanmunoz I agree; I think it's a good direction for the Explorer; a change had to be made

  • @hernanmunoz with how many miles? The reason most people hate ford because they do give alot of problems. What i have noticed with ford's is that they can last but they require high maintenance. Once you slip up a few times it all down hill from their. I have a friend with this van with 140000 miles. Which was surprising . I am a beginning mechanic and have experience with cars.He keeps his car in extremely good care. For example if one wheel bearing would go bad he would change all!

  • Esta "hernanmunoz" muchacho es mas loco de Chavez, si esta es posible; jaja

  • Yeah, but it's front wheel drive based 4wd. This thing sucks. No V8 option, and it doesn't even have a frame anymore. The whole point of buying a suv is for utility, and Ford took that away with the 2011. This is just a oversized Ford Taurus now.

  • @redneckfl1 In some ways I agree; Ford will be alienating the traditional body on frame V8 SUV Explorer buyers, but look at it from a business perspective on their end; the old Explorer had both a bad reputation after the Firestone tire issue, and they weren't hardly selling any of them for the last 5 years the way they sold 10 years ago; so if they keep rehashing the same Explorer idea, they're going to get the same result. The only way to appeal to new Explorer buyers is with a new Explorer.

  • @drc1981

My friend; BRIDGESTONE issue was due to JAPANESE NEGLIGENCE and not FORD responsability!!

You should be more informed and read the final sentence please!

Bridgestone new about this problem several years before, but simply stayed off...RESULT: same as TOYOTA!!

    FACTS: NEGLIGENCE.

  • @hernanmunoz My friend, you might want to re-read MY sentence actually; I did neither point out blame or responsibility for the tire issue; I only stated it hurt the Explorer brand; my point was that regardless of who was at fault for the Firestone issue, the damage was done to the Explorer brand as a whole; you couldn't give those things away after that all went down. And the Explorer sales went downhill for various other reasons to this very day. Take a few chill pills please.

  • I have a 2002 Explorer and I have NEVER had any issues with it. I love the Explorer. Picking up a new one in 3 days. And FYI, the new Explorer is 4wd. You have the option of either front or 4wd.

  • @ashley22d Dont be fooled my marketing, its automatically enguaging awd. This no low range or locking center diff, like in previous explorers. Many cars uses the same type of system as the new Explorer

  • I read a couple of comments about pulling up to 5k. What a joke. I can pull a 6500 lb camper with gear. Put 2 adults, 4 kids, and a lab in my 03 v8 explorer and go down the road with no problem. You will f****d up this new explorer. What a joke to take away from what was a great suv and make it into a nothing mobile. Long live the real exploeres. 2010 and older. Hopefully the new explorers are discountinue by 2012.

  • I believe that ford made another mustang 2 mistake. Take away an great suv and make it into a pile of wasted material. Just like the mustang in the 70's; Ford did it again but with the explorer. Thank you ford for taking away a great suv. I will never buy a ford ever again. I will keep my 03 real deal v8 4x4 7000 pound pulling real off road explorer. When she finally dies I will buy another full frame suv. Not interested in a car or edge want-a-be.

  • once an exploder always an exploder...

  • @lamorsa92 No kidding!?

    And you were inside!! Hahaha

  • @lamorsa92 No kidding!?

    And you were inside!! Hahaha

  • It's front wheel drive, so it's not a real Explorer anymore. Why do the automakers insist on ruining good vehicles with front wheel drive. If I wanted front wheel drive, I'd just buy a shitty Kia Rio or something. It's getting to the point, that if you want rear wheel drive and a V8, you practically have to buy a pickup truck now. At least they haven't turned the pickup trucks into pussymobiles yet.

  • The right door is ajar

  • is that james may in the passenger seat!!? lol... it looked like him from behind.

  • @seadoofan83 u dumb fuck how can u say its ugly, it looks a lot better than the previous explorers, open up ur fucking eyes

  • Just more electronic shit to repair after 50,000 miles.

  • @jeff2all And thats why I'm soooooo happy, we got more jobs now :)

  • no 4x4 it's a soccer mom vehicle now

  • @dave777blaster It's not even a 4x4 ... it's an ALL WHEEL DRIVE that cannot send power to both axles at the same time locked in like a part time 4x4.

The car has no transmission fill dipstick, so if your leaking on the road ... you best have a ford garage around at 100+ and hour to pump the oil through the tranny drainpan. There is no way to tell level except pumping the total amount of oil into it, which means a total flush.

Enjoy ford's new maintenance intensive suv's!

  • @dave777blaster

fuck that this thing is great off roading rode along with a brother in law of mine mudding and once you set that dial to mud it performs great computer controlled 4 wheel drive.

  • you know the future is coming super soon or pretty much here when you see cars like these. Now its time to put this type of stuff in all cars and make it somewhat standard.

  • is that James may ?

  • I love this car

  • Yeah, capacitive touch...GREAT idea while driving. LOL, nice work Ford.

  • really cool concept.

but i agree with the idea of waiting out a few years.

technology is going to be the death of us, despite this vehicle being sweet as hell,

i don't trust it just yet?

  • @hellohopeanne i looked at one yesterday and ford is pretty confident about it being reliable, theyre offering a great warranty and all of the ford and sony products ive owned i havnt had any problem with reliability

  • they only haev 290Hp thats sucks..

  • @Griffin596

The direct injected 3.5L TiVCT has plenty of power/torque for this vehicle forget hp stats. This is not your traditional SUV. You get the power you need with less fuel consumption and and better ergonomics. Test drive one and see what I mean. By The way, they will be introducing new engines after the first model year (including a 4 cyl ecoboost twin turbo believe it or not!) The 2011 Ford Explorer's can also tow up to 5k lbs.

  • @Griffin596 That's a hell of alot my than the v6 has in my explorer...

  • -Smart TECH.

    -Better materials.

-FORD is going to take the cars into another level.

    Seriously FORD F@#%ed GM

  • Nice song : Misery MAROON 5

  • I have a video Slideshow about The Ford Explorer 2011 with download wallpaper Links

    /watch?v=YvYoYDIs01w

  • I'll take a mustang

  • You dont need all of these little gadgets.. And good luck with this crappy cv axles. And last but not least, we are gonna make this a police car? hahaha

  • A pillars to big

  • can we japanese get new explorer immediately?

  • Ford need to start making a right hand drive version of the Explorer again!!!!

  • haha thats my friends dad! paul is awesome

  • uhmm.. it doesn't have a Floppy Drive and DVDRW Combo.. FAIL!!! lol.. Seriously though, the more tech gadgets they put.. the more it will likely fail.. i mean, how much time does the average guy spends time inside his car and play with all these stuff??

  • @BedShaker0909 have you ever been inside a BMW? the amount of rediculously useless gadgets in them makes this look like an original NES controller. i actually drove one of these cars and the ease of use of all the tech in the explorer is actually very nice. its all stuff you actually need in a car, not stupid fluff that you need a manual to use like in bmw

  • @ADD8oi yea...but its still not a BMW.... lol

  • @knowsall101 actually no, its better rated though :)

  • A lot of you are just complaining for the sake of complaining you always have to find something wrong with it can't appease everyone i suspoise. Don't like it don't buy it! Christ or go back to Goverment Motors or GMC= Gay mans car.

Ford Trucks have always kicked the chit out of GM Truck wise and the Mustang has always kicked the chit out of Chevy and Dodge.

  • this explorer looks amazing. and with almost 290hp stock thats just outrageously cool, my parents 03 4 runner has about 240 i believe and thats fast as hell i cant even imagine this beast :)

  • too bad they doesn't sell this car in my country.

  • damn that is so sexy, hard to believe an American car could have such a sexy interior

  • i used to think americans couldent build proper cars but i think this has changed my view i want one but i bet u theyre to fucking expensive as usual !

  • Benzfever" the wood grain is an option or your could get the Lincoln navigter that obbioulsy has the wood grain

  • Ford does make their own steel. At the Rouge River plant. They also make their own paint and glass.

This is an awesome effort. IMHO, the new Explorer has raised the bar to a whole new level at the $40-50k price point.

Honda and Toyota are very nice vehicles also (I own a 2003 Toy) but they're gonna have to offer up much more to compete with this.

    WELL DONE FORD!

  • Damn this is such a small car. Paul: IN USA, WE DON'T CALL THIS CAR AN SUV! IN LONDON YOU MIGHT CALL IT SO!! AN UGLY ASS DESIGN, TOYOTA ALL THE WAY

  • @alialimali lmao this car is around as big as toyotas bigger suvs, 3 rows and bigger than the outgoing model is pretty big. pauls been in the states long enough dumbo

  • Hyundai THE ONLY CAR COMPANY THAT MAKES THEIR OWN STEEL!!! ....Does Ford make their own very best steel??? nope....HYUNDAI BEAT FORD IN CAR TOTAL CAR SALES IN 2010...lets bash Hyundai??? oooops!!!!

  • @juanlozanoism HYUNDAI sells prices....not cars!!! my wifes tucson is rated to get an average of 8L per 100 km. we have a very light foot and the thing takes 11-12 L per 100km. their steel is shit, 2009 tucson v6 mac tow cap. is 1000lbs. a honda civic 1500 WTF!!?!?mabye hyundai should have another company to make their steel..oh yeah and hyundai should also have an another company make their motor gaskets. and transmissions and 4wd drive systems. HYUNDAI sells prices!!!not cars

  • @wrecks1984 are u dumb??? hyundai also makes their own steel and also they build ships. They are the #1 in building ships in the world, so their steel and materials are much highly advanced than other companies. Research before u talk shit

  • @hangene92 yeah i'm dumb, hey 2009 v6 can only tow 1000 lbs. and santa fe 3.5 l can tow is rated at 1500 and 3500 with brakes, meaning that its the frame that is not strong enough to take the stress when braking a trailer. Why is honda civic towing capacity 1500 lbs?? cause steel is stronger. and i never said hyundai does'nt make their own steel. my wife owns a hyundai right now, and that was the worst mistake of our life $30K trash can.30000 km, motor gasket seal broke, radio broke, brakes fail

  • @hangene92 re read comments before posting...i NEVER said hyundai does'nt make their steel

  • @wrecks1984 re-read my comment before ur posting also, I said hyundai also makes their steel. Which Im trying to say that hyundai is a very reliable company.

  • @juanlozanoism ur right, hyundai makes their own steel, and dont forget, they also build ships, hyundai #1 biggest ship builder!

  • Very nice. They seem to just get better and better each year. I love my 2004 Explorer. Before that I used to have a 1993 Explorer. I can't wait to get a newer Explorer.

  • nice redesign on the explorer, too bad this car is still a ford, if it was a Honda or toyo I'll be buying it.

  • @bornwithanattitude - someone asked how the Mitsubishi SUV compared to the new Explorer, considering it's only $20k. Like I said the interior of the Mitsu pales in comparison to any new Explorer.

  • How much? i dont want the tramission to get screwed

  • Interior looks exactly like the interior of the Mitsubishi Outlander Sport! Along with the soft dash.

  • @keifu22 the interior on those is very cheap. Explorer is wayy better

  • @rick15666 dude, this is explorer.

  • Ford Explorers have been around along time...

  • buy a land cruiser !

  • i officially <3 ford

  • lets hope its dependable.

  • THAT IS SO BAD ASS

  • Here's a little history lesson. The Chevy traverse. (Same size). is also FWD. And Cadillac stuck to FWD when almost all brands used RWD.

  • @SecularTechnology chevys suck and y r u acting like its good that they have frount wheel drive THATS A BAD THING

  • @jman1059

It's not as bad as people think, and I'm not trying to support chevy or anything.

  • very impressive vehicle

  • Fucking sweat

  • where is the docking station for ipods

  • Where is the wood grain?

  • Yeah, I'd wait a couple years whilst they work out the wrinkles with all "first year" models. Look at all the issues they had with the first year Ford Focus.

  • @RaguelAngelofBalance

    Yeah you re right!!

    Look what happens with TOYOTA!!

People should have wait a couple of years before buying: a Prius, a Lexus and many toyota SUVs...FATAL ACCIDENTS, never FORGET THIS MY FRIEND!!

  • @hernanmunoz Yeah, and buy the last model year if you buy used. They discontinue a vehicle when its perfected. GM is especially guilty of this!!! (1996 Impala SS, 1987 Grand National, 1998/9 Monte Carlo, etc).

  • Gadgetry gone wild!!!

An invitation to distraction while fiddling with overly complex controls and displays.

    A design disaster.

    Ford should be ashamed.

  • JJJEEEZZZUUUSSS I want it

  • the guy is flipping us off

  • I think Ford is already beginning to surpass GM as the best American car company.

  • @EmperorEmpanada what do you mean beginning?

  • They completely copied of the Grand Cherokees Select Terrain System. Not the least bit impressed.

  • @QuinnsTheBest

Actually, you have it completely backwards. Technically, Jeep got it from Mercedes Benz who in turn lifted it from Land Rover. Land Rover was owned by Ford and was sold off after Ford dismantled the Premier Automotive Group (PAG). Ford still retained the technology.

  • @FLLMTR Very true... I am so glad there are people that know their facts and let these ignorant people know who has what. I hate when I hear people say Ford copied something..

  • i want one

  • congrats on Ford, their finally stepping up their game and making cars that people will enjoy looking at.

  • when is this coming i want to buy now ?

are they front wheel drive why ? :(

  • dam i wish i was old enough to buy this car

  • If you use an Australian accent it sounds more sophisticated. Gee, wouldn't want to get any dirt or cow-dung or fish guts on the luxury carpeted floorboards. No, wouldn't want to do that...

  • Ford is proud of what we produce. Also proud that our Company is family-owned. There is the source of our pride.

  • @Martin00028Guitar Family Owned???

The fords are listed to own a total of maybe 5,000,000 shares while the company has a share float of 3 billion.

I like fords I have had a f150 for 6 years and really like it, but ford is owned by shareholders not family.

  • @kingmike40 Henry Ford and his family built the business from scratch and still own major shares of the company. The company is also owned by stockholders and investors.

  • Ford really is a force to be reckoned with now.

  • Nice work Ford you guys are putting out Top Notch products! And I mean all the way down line from the F-series trucks, the New Taurus SHO, the Mustang (305hp and a awesome 31 Mpg) The sharp looking Fiesta ( 40-mpg) And Now this Explorer WOW! Very Nice!

  • im am not gay!

  • always loved ford trucks, and its nice to see that they are to really make a statement with their other vehicles, but i'm not a fan of the touch sensor for the rear defrost and climate controls, in the winter when you jump in the suv with gloves on and want to blast the heat you will need to take them off to use it. Not a big deal, but an inconvenience.

  • sony and ford ,good combo,,,,,,,,

  • Ford in our days is superb aa they always have been... Good on the USA for making such great cars and showing other car brands they mean business :) Great walk through video thanks :)
