It depends on what you want to do - if your goal is just general fitness then either machine is good although the treadmill (because you are moving your own body weight) will burn more calories than the cross trainer.
If you want to train to improve your running fitness then you are better off running. Also, if you want to improve running then you are better off running outside.
If you want intense workout nothing like the treadmill.....trying doing the reverse stride on the cross trainer to give your legs killer workout.

its not better its just as good but it doesnt danger any of ur joints , its gd cos it works ur arms aswell
