  • MAN, I've played drums in black clubs since 1964, when I was 14. I had false ID and the owners didn't care because I was a good drummer and the band liked me because of that. This video is RIGHT ON THE MESSAGE. PLAY YOUR MUSIC AND BE FREE. GREAT VIDEO. MUCH TRUTH HERE!!!!

  • Just watched the part talking about Sound Barrier. Dude, the reason you guys weren't marketed well wasn't because you were black. It's because you were still playing glam metal in the 80s.

  • this video is wierd

  • Sorry guy, kids don't listen to Prince because his music is a bit dated. Prince isn't bad, but he's not relevant either.

  • The plight of Black rockers is not that different from any artists who don't fit into convenient molds of marketing schemes. The phonograph record business started off marketing to three markets. The general public, poor rural Whites and the Black market. The labels have changed -- Race>R&B>Soul>Urban but the categories haven't changed. If you don't fit into a pre-defined category they don't know what to do with you. I'm kinda glad the era of giant labels came to end.

  • Blackmore, May, Van Halen, Tipton, Gilmour, Young, Vai,Iommi, Whylde, Lee, Rhodes, Page, Townsend, Sykes, Cavazo,Hendrix, Cooder, Clapton, Winters, Richards, Harrison. These Are the Gods of Thunder.

This is why we have Rock and Roll!!!!

  • @ratmanf13 I agree that all of the guitarists you listed are proficient, but they are not the reason why we have Rock n' Roll. They continued the Rock tradition, but that's not saying anything.

You're thinking 70's and 60's, but rock mostly started in the late 40's and the 50's. The black (Rock) artists that were mentioned in this documentary are of course the inovators and pillars, but the list also includes Presley, Buddy Holly, Lewis, etc. for making it massively accepted.

  • I think the only reason these guys did not have any fame was that they did not write a good song!!!! The reason Hendrix made it, and Prince made it, was they were and are good song writer!!!!!

  • @StarKiller6900 really? seriously? these guys actually had huge success but mainly over sea's and they didn't write a good song? did you ever hear Black Flowers, Servitude, End The Rain, When Problems Arise? those songs are fucking great!

  • @The8starr No.

  • Who are the 143 that dislike this!?!?!?

  • @FedExHumper I'm gonna guess and say racist Whites and Uncle Toms. But that's just a guess.

  • music unites us all ... we have white rappers and black rockstars ... so i don't see the problem

  • weeping drama... what's all this shit about black man white man... sheer racism... there are always a lot of grey areas in any industry... if there was a hendrix there also was an eminem... huh!... if music was only about the business of sellin' n marketin' n mass-production n all that crap- for all you know- the chinese r gonna whip your asses at it anyway

  • Great, another fucking movie about a black guy showing the world how evil white people are.

Thanks for keeping us enemies, you dumb fuck.

  • @jazcmx : you're getting all wrong. It's about claiming some of teh fame. Sharing, if you will. Sorry it makes you feel bad. But it's needed, to bring us all on equal footing, you know?

  • @jazcmx : also, it's not really about racism amongst every day people like you and I, and every day life (because most people are much more open minded that we as a society give them credit for) but about a system and a corporate culture that historically have mainained a systematic institutional discriminatory practice..(btw, I'm a black girl that loves Metallica too!). Most of us black metal heads are trying to understand where all this came from... almost to legitimize us. That's all. Peace.

  • its sad the way music is segragated]are three any blk goth bands]i did know blk people started roc n roll] i luv the energy in rock music]im blk ,but i like goth music my favorite artist= marilyn manson]im glad2 see blk people sing hard rock!]ididnt see ice tea's"body count" or jada pinket smiths band]they say Jimi was the 1st&legendary rock artist&strange it just stopped there]then other people took rock over &made it their own]

  • they should make a documentary about how white people are discriminated against in the rap game.

  • Sara Hill is hot! Nice Documentary, though it was a bit one sided by making rich white people of "holding down" black rock artist/music when in reality their music wasn't all that great, average at best.

Check out some great black rock bands on youtube:

Sound Barrier - Rock without the roll

Follow for Now - Holy Moses

Black Death - Night of the living dead

24/7 spyz- Don't Break my heart

  • @Volumesofdoom I know your comment is 6 months old and everything, but I agree, why are these artists so bitter. thanks for the band names, though. as a black person i like to see other black rockers so i don't feel like a weirdo. peace.

  • It is funny how skinheads are into metal, which has its roots in non-white genres of music.

  • 'Rock' could destroy the barriers of black and white. In fact it does just that. But only when the black plays it for some reason. Rock makes us all 'one'. And the powers that be fear that kind of a coming together. Rock could literally eliminate racism. I saw it happen in '68 when Hendrix played. The capitalists and lawmakers do not want that to happen.

  • Very good doc. I just do not agree what Cody Chestnut said "they" took it and put a european face on it [sic].That's tap dance rhetoric. There wasn't a "white" comission to steal out of envy. Hendrix wasn't appreciated until he went to England and returned to the states to conquer.

  • For people who say music is music. If your culture was marginalized by a dominant culture for centuries, and certain elements of your culture was stolen for commericial profit by others, would you feel the same way. As an african-american I'm happy this documentary was made to remind us that our contributions to rock music did not start and end with Jimi Hendrix.

  • "super negro" lol i have always known that this music was co-opted by white folks to make money, and also i think because the kids were into it but the parents wouldn't buy the records of a black man

  • Amazing documentary! I dated a Jazz musician before and there were the same issues/questions concerning their art too.I recommend this to all musicians to watch because it's gonna ha[[en to just about every genre of black music.

  • @bohemia1355 *happen*

  • There's no way you get Beatles ,Zep,.Police Floyd outta America just like no way James Brown,Little Richard or Jimi could've been White Brithish..

Get a grip on "Style creativity" and sound scape!

This is just as radical as the ugly racism practised in the biz..

Too easy to play the race card when your shit don't fly..

  • Just saw this moving doc, very good but how do you leave out SKUNK ANANSIE!

  • Listening to Neil Young for years and I love Rick James never would of thought they played in a band together. Gobsmacked.

  • The real reason Shuggie Otis never made the big time was because he turned down many opportunities to perform with established artists and snubbed people in the industry. He even turned down Quincy Jones!!! You only really get one good shot at fame and Shuggie blew it all by himself.

  • in responding to this video, I like it a lot. everything that is said is the truth as the day is

long, I loved purple rain, and noone but Prince could have laid it to track. Damn good

video guys, kool man kool!!!!! thresher593

  • Music is ALWAYS bouncing every direction, back and forth, between ethnic groups.

For example, Irish folk and religious music, and English drinking songs, influenced county music which influenced and was influenced by black soul and gospel, which influenced white music, and so on And West Indians influenced African rhythms, influenced Caribbean and Latino beats, and in reverse as well.

  • One of the great things about so-called music piracy is that it's initiated the fall of the music industry. People say that like it's a bad thing sometimes, but it's starting -- slowly, to filter out the individuals who do it for fame/riches and the others who are doing it for art, who will still be doing it when they're about to enter a retirement home. On one hand you can be bitter that you didn't blow up, on the other hand you can be glad you still have integrity and weren't blinded by fame.

  • as currencies mirth sedates

the consummed is worth it's wieght

    insurance sees curt fate.

So collaborate....white bards blood of scotland

meets a far away love from africans

through a greeted star above our smacked hands.... says I

  • African American culture is amazing. i'm white and my poetry always sounds like some beat rap, I know where most of those influences come from. I still get amazing compliments from all races, so thank you all for the influence, and you're welcome, don't get stuck in the past young black kids, break the world off another piece of that amazing, before cindy lopper and britney spears eat our souls... underground hip hop might save the world... poets make the man poop his pants.

  • who cares about color,,,music is music,,,,

  • Check out myjoox . com for free movies!

  • The documentary is awesome! I'm black and native american (black injun), but I consider myself as a rocker of another color. Thanx 4 posting this. BTW, Fishbone Kicks Major Ass!

  • I like the documentary but, they also forgot about Eric Gales who's a blues-rock musician.

  • Hio

  • 1 HOUR! WTF

  • Great video. I hate having to feel like I have to defend myself to people who assume because I am a person of color that somehow I shouldn't be into indie rock, alternative or whatever. People always look confused when I don't bust out with some rapper or r&b singer that I listen to; rather respond with some rock band that they've labeled as "white music". Someday society may come to the consensus that music knows no boundaries and it is genderless/raceless/classless.

  • @ladychickana

Right on..I totally agree...Often times, people dislike what they don't understand. It's easier for people to put labels on people then to actually try to understand where they are coming rom...

  • @ladychickana Most people in America lack history. They don't know about the Chuck Berry or jimi hendrix. He don't even know that Rock n roll came from the Blues,R&B,and C&W being mixed together.

  • @oramikleepunk Its sad that some people dont know Jimi

  • @ladychickana lol who made the fukin sound of the instruments its obvious you blacks did not? so you didnt really make rock because the people brain and energy in making the instrument is more than a person playing it? would you not say all these greats les paul fender, rhodes if not for them you would have no music so show some respect you fukkin fool there is no rock without the fender or les paul or hammond organ blacks made the rhythm and set up but the sound of rock was made by whites!!

  • @ladychickana - society knows that music knows no boundaries - its about corporations and money - the most profound part of this documentary is when Angelo talks about how some lawyer or something - felt "give A Monkey A brain..." needed to be re-done

  • "Give A Monkey A Brain And He`ll Swear He's The Center Of The Universe" If you haven't already done so; discover it NOW.

  • Please help support indy filmmakers. Check out The Empty Playground teaser on youtube

  • @skeletorphd KRS-One is not the Godfather of Hip Hop Rakim was a much better MC than KRS-One but dont get the credit.

  • @rizor Yes White Rappers do struggle and that needs to be addressed too, it just shows u how the Music Industry feeds into stereotypes thier needs to be more Black Rock Bands the same way there needs to be more White,Latino and Asian Rappers.

  • if your good enough people will hear you and like your music i love chuck berry and jimi hendrix and these guys here are amazing its the dam music industry they shun all good rock n roll now regardless of race in favour of mediocre emo boys

  • see how bad media and just how things have portrayed black people. you white folks better do some research and get educated on black rock musicians.

  • Aren't you guys tired of fighting about this black and white stuff? You all know this crap never ends right?

  • @CelestialSymph0ny Yes it can end and I'll stop at nothing to prove that... times are changing

  • You're really quite amusing, CelestialSymph0ny. The individuals in this movie discussed their experiences in an unjust industry, which is, in reality, a microcosm of the larger society. MAJOR PROBLEMS STILL EXIST. You're expecting the victims of injustice to NOT discuss it and find a solution.

What really makes me laugh is how uncomfortable some people get just by the mere discussion. Is that the mark of a guilty conscience?

  • Dude, Here's lot of exciting movies and drama series! Check this out, bit(dot)ly/aPJpXN

  • I'm a black rock musician. My influences were black rock musicians. I can sit here and spit out "facts"(which sadly enough most of you are wrong.),but whats most important is how you got to love rock and roll. How hearing, seeing, and even being inspired got you to rock music. Things have gotten so complicated over the years and we,as fans and musicians, have continued to divide ourselves. With that said, keep an open mind, watch your money(LOL),and learn from each other.

    Sprout

  • and look at the appearence of most of these bands and guys.. stolen looks form punk and "white" looks. and Im not tryign to take fomr the black man.. i know where they stand in are great pioneers..but not only blacks were pioneers..and white ppl took rock to a new level creating hundreds of genres and defining it itsself.

  • @ThisYoungLibertine holy jesus fuck hell...you just don't get satire don't you

  • @akira357 Oh no. I got it very much.

  • I agree with you brother and i am "Black" myself. Yes tons of caucasian musicians have made great strides in rock music..i LOVE metal.August Burns Red, As I Lay Dying.its the fact that my generation has been raised in an age that continues to portray Rock music as "White" music.that is what this video is about..that is what we need to fix.the misconception..No race can own music..music belongs to the world..but credit should/and has to be given where due regardless of color, race, or nationality

  • PS jimi hendrix was half white..so was Scott Joplin ..who most say invented Jazz which inspired blues and rock.

  • Jimi Hendrix was also Native American. i hate saying the words "Black" or "White" those are not races."Black" people all have African roots..but often have Native American, Hispanic, AND EUROPEAN roots..aka "White" ..that's why racism is stupid..everyone on this earth is related somewhere down the line. Very few people are literally black or white. we are all just different shades of brown...some very light..and some very dark. by calling each other "black" or "white" we are seperate ourselves!

  • @ThisYoungLibertine Jimi Hendrix was not half White he was Half Native American

  • @JadaBlaze01 He was Native but also White and Black. Look it up.. the internet is full of information.

  • Blacks didnt invent the genre, they inspired and helped pioneer t..they have been there since the begining..everyone wiht a brain knows this.

  • But hell if you talking about music you gotta go all the day back in the old ages YO

Chinese people first invent music when they start naming their children "ching chang chong" that likes the first ever song have been made. But hell, nobody want an Asian to be the King of Music, its always have to be a black and a white. Fuck meng I find myself the only one who talking about this shit..fuck meng! fuck

    /satire

  • Rap started in Africa by way of "griots" who were story tellers and they recited there words rythmatically like in rap. White people never knew rap until black people just like they never knew Rock until black people. As always though white people will steal and claim it as their own. Just like they stole chinese inventions.

  • hello rock and roll was invented by black musicians first...chuck berry

  • @moloci21 yeah meng... back in the days "rap" was first invented by a bunch of white red necks down the country side. But hell, nobody want a white guy to be the King of Rap, they just had to but a Black African guy to King of Rap but hell i didn't care...those ghetto do wat they wanna do.

  • HAHAHAHA if you say that lil wayne is a top rapper you have no say in anything, if you even consider his generation of music rap? you dont know music, cause he doesnt know music, that shit is all trend and if you've seen him play the guitar you'd shit yourself laughing and crying for music.........im not starting nothing i hope but you seriously dont know jack if that's what you listen to....

  • 140 Haters

  • @mustang1834

HAHAHA i made myself a spokes person? really? Even a blind guy on the street would know that majority black people don't listen to rock AT ALL. Infact you don't even have to be a retard to not know that. BECUZ IT ALL OVER TV AND SHIT! ...not to mention youtube.

If you are this fucking ignorant and dumb I dont need to waste my breath anymore. Either you can take the truth or be dumb 4 the rest of your life...your choice

  • learn some history , and keep your fucking mouth shut. stop being in denial . And no matter how dumb i am , you will always be dumber. and you dont have a choice ......

  • sounds like you the dumb one. you do not know what we do. who are you GOD? fuck off

  • AND WHO MADE YOU THE SPOKES PERSON FOR WHAT BLACKS SUPPORT AND DONT SUPPORT ????? case in point - lil wayne , a top rapper , influenced by rock music...

  • @mustang1834 Lil Wayne was not inspired by Rock he knows nothing about the Genre he is just trying to crossover which aint gonna happen,if any Rapper Knows about Rock and should make a Rock Album its Andre 3000 from Outkast.

  • akira357, if you think that music has no reflection on race or life experiences then you are naive. Of course race had a huge influence on blues and as a result, had a huge influence on rock and roll. Whether you want to admit it or not, the roots of rock and roll came from the accomplishments of very talented African Americans, and current artists were fortunate enough to learn from them.

  • @JenicaFreiss Seriously you people need to learn how to read properly. I'd never said anything about rock not being influenced by African Americans...

What I did said though, is that those guys in the video are dicks and cant appreciate anything beside their race. I mean get over it! blacks don't even support black's rock anyway...

Beside if you listen to like Metal and Death metal nowsaday it dont sound 1 bit like the old school so fuck off.

  • First learn how to talk"Seriously, everytime fucking time". 2nd in case you did not know , there was a bit of discriminating going on when black folk 1st had opportunities in music. It was nothing for white artist to use styles(blues, soul) and songs from blacks(ELVIS)...

  • @mustang1834 wtf is learn how to talk seriously?

yeah, because for some reason Michael Jackson was being so discriminate by white people that he was crowed King of Pop.

    /sarcasm

LMAO you fucking joking about the lil wayne song right? oh okay...so I guess that "party like a rockstar" pretty much sum that up too huh? ahahhah cuz that's a total influence by WHITE rockers.

  • Hmm. There's an ad for a Visa Black Card in the corner of my screen. Irony?

  • Basically, individuals who have not overcome some form of personal pain can duplicate mechanics but obviously can't "feel" the art form, a necessary prerequisite for producing great work. Although there will always be exceptions, it's worthy of argument that a megastar like Bob Marley wouldn't have taken reggae to the summit had he grown up in a mansion with servants at his beck and call...

  • Race is a construct and "blacks" were identified as such so that the fruits of their labor could be extracted from them with impunity. If we want music to truly "have no color" let's do away with the false idea of race and let every man stand on their own merits going forward. Until then, it must be cited that blues were created within a unique cultural incubator that included several factors like poverty and a systematic oppression of humans based upon something as insignificant as phenotype.

  • well stated

  • Blues is easy to play, but hard to feel. - Jimi Hendrix

  • meng...at the beginning of this video I thought that blacks metal band was cool, but in the end they just want to talk shit and claim this and that of black people.

Seriously, everytime fucking time I see blacks talk they always talk about THEIR RACE! nothing else. They would not appreciate anything that had nothing to do with THEIR RACE

COLORED MUSIC you said? you mean BLACK MUSIC? because lol I dont think black is the only color that consider color...if you know wat I mean.

  • Explain this, Akira....I mean, Race is still an issue in the USA-and I can say truthfully that I see the same attitude with Whites, Hispanics-hell, now the latest is Euro vs American!!! Explain "What you Mean".

  • Music should be colorless. Period.

This is more of a record label issue than a black versus white thing. The gate keepers make all the decisions and tell us what we are going to listen to. Anything is marketable with enough money. Record label execs dont even like music for the most part.

  • There is so many things intrinsically wrong with the opinions on this video. Yes, one can argue that early rock music may have been influenced by the blues, or black music. Im a song writer, and one of my musical preferences is rock. I dont consider myself influenced by black music. I derive influence from everywhere. Why cant a songwriter create a song without someone saying that sounds like rock, and rock was created from the blues,So therefore your song has been influenced by black music

  • One problem with something like BET is that the criteria for the network is founded in showcasing R&B and Hip Hop... The presence of white R&B and hip hop artists is evidence of that. That being said, in a way, a large part of black culture is limiting ITSELF of what is deemed the "preference of black people," not necessarily by outside forces.

  • Truth be told. The current state of music is on the crappy side. And most of the people getting famous or awards, are NOT the most talented. Eminem won rapper of the year, but Mos Deff album was far more superior , and conscious that Eminems.

You even have white people saying he's the best rapper ever? Are they trying to pull a Elvis again lol.

  • @zerohero35 I just wanted to respond to your comment by saying this. Eminem is a great rapper. He's not the best rapper alive I agree with that. But eminem is by far no elvis. It's just that eminem is a very talented invidual and you can argue his race all day but he has great lyrical skills. Mos def as well it's just that mos def is underground. Trust me I think mos should win awards for his albums to but there not going to give him one and that's sad.

  • How is mos def underground when he hollywood movies hes no secret

  • He is underground when's the last time you heard a mos def song on the radio

I had to hear a mos def song on satelite

radio and I haven't heard anything from

his recent album. Just because he's known as an actor doesn't mean he's not still underground lyrically trust me compared to crappy rappers who get airtime he's underground.

  • Indeed....Mos Def is a Mainstream Actor, Period

  • what? when did Youtube start putting commercials in the middle of videos? I'm telling u, this shit is going down everyday.

  • its an hour and 10 mins... makes perfect sense.

  • Search up plain white t's look at the drummer! and raise ur inspiration by making peace!!

  • Black self-hate comes from eurocentric racism, so please research before you say that we are our own worst enemies...and secondly eurocentric racism is alive and well and HAS EVERYTHING TO DO with how SOME black peole act towards their own people. Get it right please.

  • @phrygian360 you cant "promote" racism if you dont have a system that supports it. There is no institutional systematic support for racism with "whites" as the victims.

  • i can relate to this for sure. why am i not a famous rapper??? cause im a white guy!! you have to be black to be a respected rapper! get a fucking grip. this is so stupid.

  • Comment removed

  • Fishbone is amaaazing

  • hö? 1 hour? a vid can be 10 minutes!

  • racism is such a convenient excuse for why your damn band isn't as popular as you want it to be. you fucking complain that fishbone isn't as popular as 311 or no doubt because fishbone is black. have you ever thought about maybe 311 or no doubt actually being better than you. i agree with the first part of this video but it gets out of control. you cant blame racism for all of your problems. yall can all call me racist if you want, this is just my opinion.

  • @JMorr1029 so very true. i read an article stating that they felt that the only reason the chilli peppers were hugely famous and not them was because they are black. its rediculous. i like fishbone but as far as marketability and radio friendly they are no match foe the chilli peppers. not too mention talent. this kind of garbage makes me mad and just promotes racism and propaganda. we are all humans with the same issues and oportunities. grow up people!

  • anyone who listens to any classic rock or rock n' roll for that matter should realize that blues and jazz is the musical basis. Shame on those in this generation (mine) who listens to the "rock music" crap nowadays who REFUSES to accept that.

  • i think i have seen it all now

  • this shit is crazy. cult of personality was a hit because it rocks it is good music like a lot of their other songs. rage against the machine is a latin front man a black guitarist and im guessing the bassist is "white" these dudes are sitting here disrespecting other people of ethnicty because they are jealous. why not give rage props for what they did? their black guitarist is better then yours so what? living color didnt get off after their hit so what? they are great musicians. wake up!!!!

  • So thats two bands out of how many ..........

  • AND COME ON!!!! NO ADS PLEASE!!!!!!!!

  • we all gotta know our roots in this music business.

i am a musician with little meganut, and i'll tell you

i'm into punk and emo, but i still remember my roots in rock n' roll.

its really opened my eyes, and has reminded me of my roots and music history and origins.

but i don't put a type of race on music...

we're all one within the music we play write or listen to...

    and funkadelic is the shit.

  • This movie has really opened my eyes, I've gotten to work with some of these musicans, and now I know more aout rock n roll. I used to dabble in it, but now this just makes me want to really get into it, so i can mix it with the other types of music I'm playing.

  • honestly when i saw this for the 1st time i was like wft it's a black rock group (amazing). i always liked rock music and had no idea that it started from jazz and the blues. it isn't fair but it does make sense it's not who comes out with it 1st but who gets it to a large crowd and markets.

  • The truth, and nothing but the truth!

  • Phil lynott - best black man ever.

  • super negro!

  • this deserves a lot more ratings and views infact it definatly deserves to be a fetured video

  • I wish someone would do a film on Howlin Wolf - one of the original stones had a huge collection of his stuff not readily available - I'm a huge fan of Living Colour but black radio never would fit them in concentrated on RAP

  • The sad thing is that "black radio" is not owned by black people, neither is BET.......

  • It's still not the "norm" in any way though, don't get me wrong.

  • Black people liking Rock music has become muuuch more acceptable in the past few years as Black folks have adopted aesthetics from Punk and Indie Rock and as (whether you like him or not) Mainstream Hip-Hop artists like Lil Wayne have tried to step out of the box. Also dare I say the Guitar Hero phenomenon had at least something to do with this as well.

  • That promotional video, AIDS in Africa, is one hell of a way to open a documentary that seeks to accomplish, but certainly stands in opposition to the mainstream narrative concerning Rock Music. This documentary is a Critical "Tour de Force"

  • Band Of Gypsys is astounding and surpassed The Experience in many, many ways.

  • 35:34 I would argue that the internet is a good medium created for music. No longer does the industry have a total stronghold, now people can find and download what thet like.

  • 16:13 what band is that?

  • Awesome Little Richard information, 50% ownership of the Beatles, take them back to America LOL but when Richard tells it with his ego and persona people think he's tripping or what ever LOL. I'v seen clips of Little Richard saying he was the King of Rock, and thats the first thing you think, awe man yeah right little Richard......hahahaha

  • Chuck Berry was the real "king of rock", not Elvis

  • vatican assassins

  • is that a band?

  • oh yes!!

    an orchestra

  • Finally got around to watching this entire video. It has been quite inspiring and I wish luck to any black musicians wishing to get their music out there! :D

  • If you let us make the money we need to exist, we'll get good at that, and maybe take our mind off the 24/7 babymaking"!

  • rock music is not "young music",it is the culmination of old experiences, you can't get away from that, it just is, and it happens that it is a black experience. It doesn't matter who rocks, just rock! It does matter however, who collects royalties. There are a lot of poor cats out there responsible for the rich producers and thieves who cash in on our groove, and then make strange of us. A friend said to me" all you guys do is make babies and screw,", and I told him"well, we are good at that

  • That second song sounded like God Forbid

  • you can disagree with how people interpret those experiences

  • id rather not tell a victim he is wrong, its like telling a raped person , they never got raped

  • funny... i feel the same. except about you. =)

  • you have a pretty good point there.

  • Great post, thanks, it's about time somebody told the story.

  • "We started music and civilization."

My god, a real Mesopotamian! I thought you guys were gone.

  • i am all about being true to one's culture, but im even more behind pushing the envelope and breaking boundaries, which these guys do, and are true to themselves at the same time....there is NO COLOR CODE for genuine raw musical talent...and we have to get really real about it....(i am white skinned!) the black musical culture kicks ass on white music...its just history and you cant argue with that!

  • no one can take your mind you have too allow them to do so .black have given up all the special thing about them.even to this day they cant see there true leader.

in there eyes he's a weirdo cause they cant place him..category

  • speak for yourself not me. I do everything from hip hop to metal

  • Yeah, black rockers don't exist anywhere.

Kinda like white rappers. wait a minute...

  • Funny dude. Peace.

  • I still exist. I'm an older artists, but I still rock!

  • We started music and civilization.

So it was in the beginning, so it will be in the end.

  • It's very weird seeing a rock band with all black dudes. I'm not gonna lie. o _ o

It's like they don't exist in the mainstream.

  • by the way , Diddy has stated that he loves rock n roll, even has a popular song that is rock , so what are you talking about??

  • The guitar, as usually defined, refers to a set of closely related stringed instruments created and used across Europe since the medieval period, making it a truly European instrument. The defining developments of the guitar occurred where it was especially popular during the modern era, in Latin Europe, namely Spain, Italy and France. Precursors of the guitar can be traced back as much as 4000 years to an Indo-European origin of stringed instruments once known in central Asia and India.

  • and africa, but they wouldnt tell you that

  • Go read up on the Banjo, and get back to me.

  • @daleyboyz i think you'll find with a little more research that there are many many different types of guitars, many originating in Africa and central/south america. Europeans write history, loosely speaking so of course they will embellish in their interest.

not to mention that the guitar was invented in europe. Try playing the blues without that.

How come we influenced the Rolling Stones, Beatles, Eric Clapton...they all claim BLACK ppl are the reason they started playing in the first place.
