you might like inuyasha or bleach. i would also recommend trinity blood, it's funny, can be sad, and it has vampires in it. ^_^

Flame of Recca is really nice! if you want with magic, funny and sad with bit romance "Flame of Recca" and also

"YuYu Hakusho" both is very similar, but YuYu hakusho have demons and good spirits and many things. Just try it!

A lot of anime are similar. Like both this and "Yu Yu..." start with a kid in the modern day who is actually from an ancient time, both have him first gathering a group, then raiding a mansion to save a girl, then taking part in a tournament. Come to think of it, even "Ueki no Housoku" is like that.

This anime version isn't so bad either. I like the style they're using. Not very tacky, unlike many animes these days... :D
