  • The Jewish faith and the Christian faith are intertwined. As Christians believe Jesus was God incarnated on earth the Song of Songs is just as much theirs to love and sing as it is the poetry of the Hebrews. I wish the people of the Abrahamic faiths would stop bickering over what belongs to who. At this point isn't it fair to let the love and beauty belong to all in hope of inspiring hope and peace? How many more wars must the people of these faiths fight to put aside the pride and arrogance?

  • Beautiful rendition!

  • This is not a "Christian" song - but a ballad used at weddings in Palestine. Enjoy it as a wonderful love song.

  • she is singing from song of all songs...(song of solomon)

its about Jesus and His love for His bride...

    here...sinead..

    and me..

and all who love Jesus Christ

  • @hadassah37: If this is from Song of Solomon, how does it have anything to do with Jesus, a mythical character purportedly born some 5 centuries after this was written?

  • With your beautiful tone and the compassion it conveys, I wish you'd do a song that speaks as a bridge of harmony between the St8 and GLBT; a community of one. After all, we all belong, we're all precious and all gifted.

  • Hebrew poetry sang by an Irish charmer.

    absolutely lovely.

  • @Caladan1 Yes the Song of Songs is beautiful Hebrew poetry. Song of Songs: A book of Tanach authored by Solomon, depicting the love between G-d and the Jewish people, employing the metaphor of the love between husband and wife. In many communities it is read on the holiday of Passover. This is quoted from Chabad.org. It is not an Xtian song.

  • @AndrisGreen - sry I don#t believe in a God - just like I don't believe in Santa. I grew up and put away childish things....

  • @cervusadfontes Funny thing, I don't know if you did it intentionally, but "I grew up and put away childish things" is actually from the Bible

I Corinthians 13:11 "When I was a child, I spoke and thought and reasoned as a child. But when I grew up, I put away childish things."

I'm not starting anything religious, or getting involved in any religious discussion, I just thought it was interesting, especially if it was unintentional.

  • @Luneae I'm ex benedictine monk. the ref was deliberate. but ty all the same

what year was this recorded in

anyone know?, wa this before she was preg?

  • it's from her latest album

  • dark am i yet lovely as tents of kedar (does anyone know what tents of kedar) are

As the pavilons of solomon neither?(either? (mean) i love this song, i just do not completely understand the words.

i know who solomon is. was

majestic as lebanon stately as cedars (help me with cedars) anyone know let me know

    thanks

    art

  • Milagromic: All these lyrics are adopted from the "Song of Solomon", or "Song of Songs", in the Old Testament of the Bible.

"Kedar" are Bedouin Arabs in North Africa. They lived in the desert in black tents. To live "in tents of Kedar" was an expression that meant to be cut off from the Jewish community.

And the cedar ... is a tree! It's the national symbol of Lebanon!

  • yeah

    thank you soo much

    art

  • tthe last part of this song reminds me of a song

i wrote called rosebud around 1978.

    art

  • dear panchamkauns:

    thank U for your reply

    it is milagromac not milagromic

    milagromic cool also.

    are you a songwriter????

    please let me know

    art

  • where are you from?

    kindly

    arthur

  • I"m from GA

  • oh yes i love this one also!

in what year was this recorded?

    does anyone know

    kindly

    art

  • its on her new album..this is much better than the album version which is a bit flat..

  • I LOVE the new album, Theology. It's mainly religious themes but the songs are sooo beautiful and harmonious. It's slow and gentle, though, be warned! I prefer the London Sessions over the Dublin Sessions, which are slower and have more flute, etc, I think.

  • i agree that with the new theology album her career may hopefully rocket again-needs the right exposure tv appearances, promotion etc, just try and think of anyone else with such a voice, such honesty, beauty etc etc, hope theology goes top 10

  • i got the impression she didn't really care about her career when she pulled the pope stunt ; )

  • ask her sometime

personnaly i think she was very young sucessfull

she did not like the abuses that she witnessed

in the church. she really cares about the child abuse issue. regardless she is a wonderfull singer

    art

  • But I think this album might be the start of a new phase in her career, Asaddo.

I hear that sales of her new single is quietly picking up speed in Europe. And apparently the tix for her upcoming gigs in LA and NYC sold out within minutes of going on sale!

  • i'm really looking for the new album. I saw the Dublin Castle Show in May, great, but there were only a few songs from Theology. I'm going to the show in Limerick in July.Think it's so sad how her career has declined and she is now a joke to most people. A great talent somewhat wasted.

  • Don't worry what the WORLD thinks. Worry what you think. I think she's still beautiful, brilliant, lovely voice, and lovely, deep, meaningful songs!

  • Esta cancion en su version Dublin es preciosa, es muy dulce!

  • Just want to express how inspired is this melody. Thanks again for beauty !

  • What a majestic powerful shining song ! Thank you Sinead for this old time hebrew poem, that is still modern and universal.

  • I thought you found him Sinead? A.A. Alma

  • Lovely, Sinead. Just brilliant, darlin'!

  • "rasta-fuckin-fari" she is as classic as they come...

  • I don't think she said that. She said something about Jah Rasta-far-I. This is a Rastafarian concept. Her new album combines aspects of Old Testament Judaism, Christianity, and Rastafarian religious themes.

  • she always say rasta-fucking-fari in her gigs

  • i agree, she is not meaning to express

    profanity in any way!!

    just a delightful great preformance.

    take care

    art

  • after careful listening

    maybe she did say Rasta-far-I.

    no difference, still great song

    art

  • @bargainmom she is singing to Jesus Christ...from the book Song of Solomon..

the whole song is from teh book. song of all songs...is a picture of Christ's love dfor the true Church...Sinead loves Him..i love Him..the church all those who trully love Jesus are born by the Spirit and washed in HIs blood..these will shine like the stars in heaven forever...the rest will burn in hell forever...

  • Give her a break, she's nearly 40. :)

  • I've never heard this song before-what a treat! Is this on the new album, maybe? Nothing compares to the beautiful and brilliant Sinead.

  • Yes this song is from her new album "Theology"

  • Never heard this song before...but why she looks so different?

  • She recently had another kid so maybe that's why? Not sure but I agree.

  • Sweet.
