@markab71 - I'm just guessing here but I think it's for coming to speak with Tucsonians after the tragedy of the shooting that left 6 dead and one of their reprisentatives, Gabby Giffortds, in the hospital.
Well...thanks for saying that. I was a little disappointed with how it came out--I missed the 50 or so motorcycle police that preceded the limos. Mr. President sat in the back of the second limo, and from the sidewalk you could see him and he did wave back at all of us--and none of this was picked up on the poor video quality. It was still very moving. Heckuva lot of SUV's and vans tho!
@3mountaingirl The number of SUV's & Vans in the President's motorcade is predicated on not just his security detail, but the number of Staff & Press accompanying him. Based on the reason for this visit, there was considerably more media & Staff then usual. I have yet to see President Obama's motorcade 'live,' & I only live 30 minutes from the White House & work in Wash. DC. Lucky you :-) I use to see Bush's frequently due to Cheney hospitalization in Virginia. Wasn't exciting :-)
