As much as i'd like that kind of GF, (relationship-wise anyway) I am unsure of my orientation as sometimes i feel quite asexual? But im still straight? If that makes sense...
@AnotherAccount5 Don't listen to this video, it doesn't reflect the real life, people say their cute to each other all the time, it's not a flirting only thing, such videos infuriates me seriously, you can't summarize life in a few minutes.
Judging by what is said in this video a "flirting" conversation would be...
Stopping a random girl or guy on the street, you say, kawaii, she says kakkoii, you say asobi ni iku, she says un, dou shimasho, hello, this is not real life, it's a video game ...
Thanks for putting this video together. I am trying to improve my Japanese, not to pick-up girls, but to know when to say something, what to say & when to remain silent. One tip I like is not to always speak Japanese otherwise people presume you know a lot. So sometimes I just prefer to be a non Nihon Go speaking gaigin. If that makes sense.
This guy is so fucking boring. I don't like how he can't pronounce Japanese properly. I mean, just fucking copy what she is saying. Even I can do it and I don't speak Japanese
@xXxIIIShadowIIIxXx Well daisuki means both "like" and "love", so the shortened "suki" is less meaningful I guess. Imagine confessing your love to a stranger haha
@markshiftplusone So I need a car to get a girlfriend ? Then I'll be single for the rest of my life because I don't have a car nor do I want one, ever.
Hmm I should buy one and just to say have one ?
Of course I'm kidding, I just wanna show you how redundant your comment is.
My tip for everyone, be yourself, life is not black and white there aren't rules for flirting, or dating, you don't even have to flirt in the firstplace, just be yourself and stop listening to such videos/comments.
@victoriaisntsosecret When I was taking my first semester of Japanese, I was taught that the particle "ga" is used with non-action. But it was never explained fully. The only other time we went over "ga" is to express the location of a non moving location such as department store but even then it had to be used in conjunction with arimasu (non living thing) and imasu (living/people).
I think you got it a bit wrong there. "Ga" has nothing to do with actions vs non-actions or location. When you are talking about location, you are probably refering to "ni", which is the destination/location particle.
"Ga" is the subject particle. It marks the subject of the sentence.
Have a look at this sentence:
"I went to school yesterday."
Who went to school? "I" did. So "I" am the subject of the sentence. In Japanese, you use "ga" to mark the subject of a sentence.
@TheCrazyStudent ga is actually not for the seuject, trust me im studying japanese, and the subject is marked by "wa" (hiragana for "ha" is used, but pronounced wa" so it would be "watashi wa" if you say "watashi ga" you mark yourself (watashi = i) as OBJECT! clear? "ga" is for the main Object of a sentence, so dont go and talk something you thought you learned by wtching anime, kay?
I find your post very amusing. With no info to back you up whatsoever, you just blindly assume that I have learned my grammar from watching anime? Dude, that's hilarious! I don't even like anime, so I barely ever watch it! I have basically studied Japanese grammar since the first day I started with the language. And I'm always using reliable resources in my studies.
But I don't mind if you want to learn grammar the wrong way. Be my guest. Hope you'll have fun. :)
@victoriaisntsosecret the "ga" particle is used just like the "wa" particle. it is used to mark the subject. but there is also a little bit difrence in them and when to use which one. for example--> watashi wa suzuki desu (i am suzuki) it could also be--> watashi ga suzuki desu it has the same meaning.... but there is also a difference.... i can't explain properly coz even i am still learning Japanese... and i am still struggling with the uses of these two particles.....
@TheCrazyStudent japanese people tend to knock the beginning off a sentence so this whole sentence would be watashi wa anata (eek rude! sorry!) ga suki desu. because you're not saying the subject in this sentace it's assumed to be you. ga is marking who or what you like so as Japaneseheavymetal says, it's marking the object (of your desires lol).
If ga is marking the object, then let me ask you: What is wo (を) marking? :P
In the sentence "Watashi wa anata ga suki desu", where is the actual subject? You may think it's "watashi", but it's actually "anata". The sentence translates to "As for me, you are likeable." "Watashi" has no verb linked to it here, so it cannot be a subject. "Anata" has a whole predicate connected to it, which makes it a subject. Limited character input here, but google it if you really wanna know.
@TheCrazyStudent ga is used with certain verbs as an object marker. hoshii is another verb that uses ga instead of wo. google it if you really wanna know
As it so happens to be (check the dictionary to confirm it), "hoshii" is not even a verb at all. "Hoshii" is an adjective (an 'i-adjective').
Kuruma ga hoshii desu = (a) car is wished for (The car is taking the action of being wished for = subject)
In English the natural way would be "I want a car". In English, the same thing is expressed by using the verb "want". Different languages work differently, and that is important to understand.
It matters bigtime wheter "hoshii" is a verb or an adjective, because adjectives can not have objects connected to them, but verbs can. This proves that in the sentence "Kuruma ga hoshii desu", "kuruma" is the subject, "hoshii" is an adjective and "desu" is the copular verb. (In Japanese: "A car is wished for / wanted for") I just wanted to try to clear some things up. It's up to you what you want to do with this info.
@TheCrazyStudent dude i'm really sorry but you're teaching your grandmother to suck eggs right now. I can speak Japanese, I don't teach it, i don't ever intend to. Maybe you should spend your time replying to the messages that want help. I have no interest in Japanese grammar spoken in English
the guy was saying kowaii instead of kawaii which means scary not cute. XD pronounce better buddy or you'll be making some unfortunate girl cry or laugh in your face.
@Vonii27 while the first part is true, they will understand what you say. I lived there for 1 year and I NEVER heard any 20somethings person say kowagaru. kowai(I misspelled it) is used all the time and easily understood for what it is. even by many foreigners.

Respectfully, this is video is not about how to flirt in Japanese... This video is more about vocabulary.
If I may offer some friendly tips on what you need to know about flirting with a Japanese girl:
1. Have a job
2. Have a car
3. Keep your extensive manga collection a secret
4. Do not try and impress her with your deep knowledge of anime titles and story lines
5. Unlike American girls, being polite, respectful and funny will get you farther than being playfully sarcastic and funny.
